wait. who attacked raj? was it st cyr or the death eaters?

Author's Response: Phillipe St. Cyr and his associates.

so I think I remember one of the "bad guys" said they just needed to follow hermione and she would lead them to the one with the correct bloodline...? so are they going to find raj now? crap, I'm going to have to reread this again...I barely remember the part where they mention evangeline. crap.

so that special book he lent hermione was the journal of galahad?!?!?

so this makes sense, the third party related to the knights templar. the frenchman is in this group, yes? what on earth is mcgonagall's relation to this group?

speaking of which, where does dumbledore fit in?

definitley full of revelations. of course, they are again easy to overlook by the hermione/sirius in the early part of the chapter if you are only paying attention to the shipping and not the plot...I think that was why I got so confused before i went on my rereading spree--it was a hermione/sirius fic, not a serious-plot fic. of course I was completely wrong, I just couldn't remember what was going on.

and now we know. hmm. honestly, i don't have time to read it again...I should have just printed out the whole thing.

thank you soooo much for updating! do you have any idea how addicted I am to this story? answer: A LOT.

Author's Response: mmm.... I don't recall off hand anyone saying they needed to follow Hermione to find the correct bloodline. Perhaps you're thinking of them following her to get to Harry? Or following 'someone' to get to some information? Evangeline is mentioned in the journal (the beginning of Chapter 11). * * * No; it was just a very good, thorough book that Raj lent Hermione, covering information about Merlin's association with Arthur and the whole 'Wizards interacting with Muggles' thing during that time period. The Journal of Galahad is said journal at the beginning of Chapter 11 - one hidden in Raj's flat. * * * The Frenchman Phillipe is associated with the Wizarding group that was a branch of the Knights Templar; he is the brother-in-law to McGonagall (her sister is Madam St. Cyr, who has taken over for her late husband in running this group). Aberforth is unaffiliated with the group; instead, he has just the barest assocation with the Order of the Phoenix, which McGonagall is heading. * * * lol... thank you! A benefitting addiction, I do hope. You're welcome on the updating. I've begun the next chapter, and have an extra couple days off next week, so perhaps if my muse is willing, it will be less time for the next update. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm - it's addictive as well! ;D

what's M rating? is that equivalent to Professors? or an R rating (american)? does it stand for mature?

my feeling is, go where the story takes you, regardless of rating. if people already like the story they'll keep going. you may want to put the line in your summary that says some thing like "rated blabbety-blah for future chapters..."
unless of course you want to write "this story is full of hot sex" which would be a bit of an inaccurate description, at least so far.

and an absolute yes on your mental picture of sirius black. though personally I think he's got darker hair. and michael easton works out, though i don't think he's quite as perfect a fit. tho very very close. why oh why did they make sirius's hair curly in the movie?? I just don't get it...

so sirius is 36? did I read that right? well, if he was the same age as james'n'lily, that would mean that they had had harry at age 16? or close to it? so...did you subtract the four years he was behind the veil from his actual age? which would mean that they had had harry at age 20, which is about right. so are you saying that sirius was not dead, he had just stepped out of time, as it were?

grr. I've been interrupted. must finish this lovely reading later.

Author's Response: Oh, sorry! FFN does their ratings K-M and I didn't change that for here, but yes, M would be Mature Only. Equal to Professors here, I'd say. Yes, I had every intention of just seeing where the story took itself, but I'm glad to know I've got support regardless of what I did end up doing. * * * Thank you! Yes, that should be Gary w/ black hair, but some of the shots make it look much lighter. I adore Gary, anyway. ;-) I figured Michael made a good Reg, and though I'm open for other interpretations, I haven't found another close enough to what I'd see. * * * If Sirius had not gone through the Veil, he would be about 40. To me, the most logical take on the Veil would be similar to stopping time. He was 36 when he went in; he'd be 36 when he came out. Everyone else, of course, went on in age, including his 'little' brother, Regulus, who would be about 39 now. So that would make Lily and James about 20 or so, yes, when they had Harry. * * * lol... I hope you get to continue soon; I'm anxious to hear what you think of the chapter. This one actually has answers! ;P

ALRIGHT!!!! I love answers! You're doing a great job. As for the rating, no big problem to me... go with whatever writes true then rate accordingly. I'm big enough to pay taxes and rent, I think I can handle a little rating change. :)

Author's Response: Hahahah! Yes; I've always thought old enough for taxes and own living expenses, old enough for most anything. :D * * * Yes, we finally have some answers, and for the most part, here on out there should be more answers and less mysteries, though one or two will pop up here and there. * * * Thank you! Hope you continue to enjoy... Cheers!

Whatever rating you choose is fine with me, but you can always do a lot of implication.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I am fond of implication, particularly subtle implication, and do it quite often as it is (see shower scene in current chapter). I don't have definite plans, but I just want to keep my options open, and wanted to get feedback from the readers as to if there was a strong preference either way. * * * Thanks, again!

Great chapter! Finally questions have been answered! I can't wait to see where this leads in the next chapter!

On a sidenote: Gary Oldman in State of Grace makes me drool EVERY time I watch it. I have half a mind to put it in the DVD player right now.

And I'm totally cool if you up the rating of your story.

Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: Oh, there are those out there who *don't* drool when seeing SoG Gary??? lol... ah, what a man.... * * * Yes, we're finally on the path of answers rather than all questions, and things are finally falling together. They've a few adventures left before the story's end, but hopefully everything is on the right track for all involved. * * * Thanks - it's good to know readers are supportive, regardless of where the rating falls. ;-)

I have had immense amounts of fun this week reviewing your story and getting such intriguing responses back. I really just wanted to say thanks.

and also--where's sirius's wand? and where's raj's wand?

and I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!

Author's Response: Sirius' wand is somewhere near Hermione's bed - not lost, just dropped. Raj's wand was left in the alley. It'll be retrieved. Good point of notice, though. * * * I, too, have enjoyed your re-reading and commentary. Good questions, really, and very good attention to detail. And you're welcome for the responses. Ask the right question and you'll receive an answer - as best possibly available, of course. :-) * * * About 45 minutes ago I finished the next chapter, and am now reviewing it for edits before posting it. Hopefully it should show up here within a week, depending upon staffing. And yes, there are answers, finally, in this one. * * * Thanks, again! Cheers!

I'VE MADE IT TO THE END OF MY REREADING!!!! AT THE EXPENSE OF MY CLASSWORK!!!! HOOOORRAAAYY!!! I can't wait for the next update...tra la la la laaaaa....

Author's Response: I love your tenacity, but don't sacrifice your homework for my story! Get those good grades.... then celebrate by reading. ;-) Next chapter soon, and some significant answers will be included. Cheers!

so phillipe IS on the "bad side"! I wonder if mcgonagall knows...

this whole thing with regulus makes me think of the chivalrous wooing of the mideival and baroque era (blame the literature class) because he doesn't really know her all that well, doesn't even know she's a muggleborn, simply admires her from afar and decides "she's the right one". tho I admit i do feel a bit sorry for him at the end...and sirius is just so clueless. ah, men.

Author's Response: Ah, but I never said *who* was on the good OR bad side. Philippe is just... well, it's complicated. But at this exact moment I'm writing up the last section of the next chapter, and the very words I was just typing are part of the explanation about to be given regarding Raj. Soooo.... you will get some answers next, I promise! * * * Yes, there is a bit of medieval wooing in Regulus' situation, but keep in mind who else is very 'medieval' in their manner and speech. Good clue, that. * * * Sirius now has a clue - a very big one. After this next chapter, there will be no question on either's part that a line has been crossed regarding Hermione and Sirius' *friendship.*

so madam st cyr is mcgonagall's sister...married to a young(!!!) frenchman...the same frenchman who was in the bathroom at the concert...who is plotting something...who's in league wih raj...who's connected to merlin and avalon and the lady of the lake and *merlin knows what else*...

was the chamberlain the one who searched hermione's office??

and yeh, I completely missed this first time thru...so blue is descended from zelda and the other man she married (is he important?) and she's still friends with jacob, who just happens to be visiting...just a question--she lives in france, yet she works in the british ministry. is that at all problematic?

Author's Response: heeheehee... wow. Um... a fair number of hits... and a few misses. * * * Yes on the siblings. No, St. Cyr is NOT married to young Philippe. She was married to his brother (now deceased). * Yes, Philippe is the one from the concert bathroom. No, he is not plotting with Raj. * Yes, Raj is connected in a fashion (but not by birth) to Merlin, et al. * * * Yes, Chamberlain was the guilty party. * * * Blue is Zelda's grandson. When she and Bubby did not marry, she went on to marry a Frenchman - Jonas Luminare (which, btw, is French for some form of luminate/light). She herself is not French, and she lives just outside of Hogsmeade, in Scotland. Yes, still a bit of a commute, but she's not there all the time. * * * I think that covers it, yeah? :D

does raj know hermione's dreaming, and that's why he's hanging around her? does it have to do with the "birthright of foresight" or however you put that?

Author's Response: Her dreaming has everything to do with her gift of foresight (highly ironic, as she absolutely *despises* divination). However, Raj's interest comes from two areas: 1.) he actually likes her and is attracted to her somewhat, and 2.) her position as Harry Potter's best friend (next to Ron, of course). He knows nothing of her dreams.

blue's french grandmama is connected to raj...hmmm...

Author's Response: Yes... and you've already been shown who... and how. ;-P

how did I completely not catch this the first time around?!?! ted saw them...he was eating with jim mcguffin, and told him his daughter was working security...because she's an auror...ted tonks works with muggle television?? hokay....very interesting.

Author's Response: Yeah, hindsight is 20/20.... The idea for Ted working at a Muggle television station did not just pop out of thin air for me... check out "...Philosopher's/Sourcer's Stone" - I think Chapter 2. Notice the weatherman talking about the owls spotted on 1 Novemeber. Look at to whom he was speaking, and how said anchor was interestingly enough not all that surprised (or seemingly not so). Rooted in canon, even if that's not what JK meant. ;-) * * * lol... and that's the way it was *meant* to be - you don't catch it the first time around, but it hits you when you learn the truth, especially if you go back over it. And here you lot all thought I was just rambling on to fill out the chapters....;-P

Author's Response: *Sourcerer's*

so there was an old scroll that talked about the grail? and the lineage of merlin? (and raj is related to merlin, is he not?) and only one of the lineage of merlin can have the grail, is that where you're going? no. wait. "birthright", you said. birthright is probably something else.

what was that thing a couple of chapters ago about the omen at the start of the seventh month? I'm guessing that already happened if hermione is thinking about going back to uni.

the revelation about ron is almost lost in all the other revelations in this chapter. but it gives me such a sad feeling. very stark and spare. being unsure in your feelings is hard.

Author's Response: I have to admit; if you put tihs kind of thought into your school studies, you should see A's in your future. ;-) * * * Very astute, yet again, be careful how you read it. Merlin *knows* of the lineage; it's not *Merlin's* lineage. Techncally - and on a more ecclesiastic and existential point of view - the Grail does not actually *belong* to anyone. Thus, you're right; the birthright is something else, but I'm not saying you're far off. * * * Oooh, even better catch - I"m proud of you! Yet, the seventh month... you assume the Gregorian Calendar. Never assume. ;-) * * * Yes, I feel a bit sorry for Ron, but Hermione must be honest and true to her own feelings, else it would not be fair to either of them. * * * Very good job!!!

ugh...I hate writing long reviews and then having them be deleted...I need to remember to save them...right. so.

so i went back to chapter 3, and the waterford event, which was the appearance of the dark mark in waterford over a pub and the death of 2 people, with one missing. I'm guessing that the girl the men in the bathroom were talking about was the missing girl, perhaps she was kidnapped? I am not sure if I really think they were death eaters. I mean, I'm not sure what to think. the french weren't involved, were they? the only connection I make to the french is fleur and beauxbatons...there was something else here in my deleted review that I've forgotten. oh well.

what I really think about when I hear "waterford" is crystal, Waterford Crystal. this is getting a bit far-fetched, but they are looking for a grail, are they not? are there any rules against a crystal grail?

and wait a second--grail--that goes back to avalon--holy moly. right. merlin. right. ung...

if I worked as hard on my schoolwork as I do in rereading this, I would get A's in every course. however...

and one thing I didnt' think of before--was it just a coincidence that sirius and hermione ran into david at that concert? backstage? why was he there? yep, this rereading is definitely bringing out my paranoia...

Author's Response: *laughs in high amusement* My, my, you ARE getting a mite paranoid. :-) * * * Yes, that was the event in Waterford of which they spoke. What a wonderful plot twist that would be, you know, having the missing girl involved... (thinks on this as a possibility for later chapters and other subplots). * * * As interesting as that would be, Waterford crystal (a lovely plant tour, I assure you if you ever have the time) isn't significant to the issues. Just a lovely Irish town on the water. * * * Avalon? Grail? Merlin? mmmmm..... * * * lol... perhaps I can inspire you to have such dedication to your schoolwork as well? lol * * * David was at the concert because he was a fan of the main act, Origami Legion. He'd worked the venue before, so he knew the best ways out without dealing with the rowdy crowds. And thus, it was just coincidence - lucky one at that - that he ran into them, or they he. * * * Feeling any better about it all? ;-P

stubby boardman is soo funny to read in retrospect...you really had fun with this, didn't you?

faintly french teenage voice...looking for raj, who was doing something dangerous in waterford, which also involved a girl....i want to assume that the danger in waterford was the translation at the beginning of the chapter, and that the girl was not hermione. am I too far off track?

Author's Response: Ah.... be careful how you read into the phrases. They never said it was Raj. They also didn't say it was a matter of doing something dangerous. There was definitely an event that happened in Waterford, and you were explicitly told about it... back in, say, chapter 3, I think. * * Was the girl Hermione? Good question. * * * Thank you!!!!!!! ;-)

Author's Response: One other point - I LOVE how you're going back and reviewing the clues and details - absolutely cool! Thank you, again!

"Flirtatious in a medieval sort of way, his chivalrous manner both charming and disquieting." raj isn't from the past, is he? somehow i don't think so....but I did see this passage... and he seems to have connections to a lot of old stuff...

and i still absolutely love the end of this chapter. the second time makes it better!

Author's Response: um.... I daresay, your re-reading of the story is bringing out both the paranoia and the excellent ideas. No, Raj is not from the past. But your notation of his connections... excellent observation. * * * Like Stubby's rant, eh? lol...

Name: mock_turtle (Signed) · Date: 11/12/07 8:55 · For: Chapter 8: Bring Forth the Past
"Trinkets not unlike those gracing the late Albus Dumbledoreís Headmasterís office were strewn about" I need to figure out this connection...as well as how much raj knows if he was debating how much to reveal...

Author's Response: Hmmm... the connection regarding the trinkets? Or Raj to the Headmaster? Or...? * * * Raj knows quite a bit, and in the next chapter (25), you'll finally be enlightened. ;-)
