I have the sneaking suspicion that Harry's going to have to cherry-pick the truth of what happened -- making sure not to even HINT the WHEN at all, of course. Because unfortunately, he's never learned what most of us know: You CANNOT lie to your parents -- it just doesn't work.
Love it so far, though.

You see, this is why I nominated this story. I can’t read a chapter without having a major reaction. Either I am crying, or laughing, or in this case, both. Not one other story on this site has this effect on me. I don’t have strong reactions to stories, unless they are really good. Heck, J.K. only made me cry twice in seven books. You have done it more in only eight chapters.
Lily and James can argue and laugh at the same time, as can any with a strong marriage. That adds such a realistic slant to the story and allows us as readers to feel their happiness. I do like that Lily called him on the fact that Ginny isn’t any less dangerous than Harry because she is a girl. If anything, it makes her more dangerous, because he wouldn’t be expecting it.
The invisibility cloak, how in Merlin’s name can Harry really explain about it without giving too much away? You did such a great job with his internal dilemma, not knowing what and how to say anything. Just by what he has already said, James should be able to figure out something isn’t right. He messed up being able to use the excuse James provided him with. I can’t see either James or Lily letting it go without a better explanation.
I do like the offer of the Unbreakable Vow. Nothing short of that would have made James trust him around Lily and the baby Harry.
This was a wonderful chapter, and worth every minute of the wait. Now I can only pray you don’t get writer’s block again. I hate waiting, especially when it is for something this good. Great job, and please, oh please, update again soon. See you then…
Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it! I was worried it was too short, but otherwise it would have dragged on and on and taken me way longer to post.
And don't worry, eventually Harry's going to have some explaining to do. See, that's the problem; when you know something bad is going to happen to someone, you can't NOT let hints slip, even completely accidental hints. Harry's shown that he speaks a lot of times without thinking, so it would be completely improbably for him not to let something slip. But I'm working under the idea that time is linear, kind of like in PoA.
I'm so glad you like Lily and James; a lot of times I feel that they're portrayed unrealistically. I tried to use my parents and other couples as models.
And don't worry, I'm working on 9!
