I truly loved this story. It's such a good start to your fanfic career.

Something I find truly remarkable about your fic is that while being D/A it's almost happy. Everyone who died, died for someone they love or to help bring about a change for the greater good.

Draco is so different that the canon Draco. I love the new him. He actually seems to care about something. You didn't make him fall in love with Hermione either, something I'm truly grateful for.

Your writing style is very nice to. The only complain that I have is that you fic is too short. (Not technically, but I wish there was more.)

Chapter: And They should Not Be Forgotten

Excellent story, very dark, very sad. I like all the LotR quotes.

I like how you had Luna and Neville die hand in hand and have everyone die peacefully and fulfilled, it shows that Death is more than just dark and morbid, as it is always portrayed in Life.

This is my point of view on Death:

If a loved one who died had a good and fulfilling Life, why mourn their Death for months? They have gone on to a better place than this war-torn Earth and you only make the Living miserable with your constant dwelling on something you cannot change.

Perhaps mourning for a few weeks, if they died peacefully and had time to spend with loved ones to share life secrets and revelations and reliving the good times with friends and family.

If they died abruptly, with no chance to make up for mistakes, undo wrongs or confess sins, then they should be mourned for the times you never got to spend together, but remembered and loved for the good times you DID get to spend.

But you must accept their Death after a while and not let it interfere with your Life. You have a chance at a good Life, and you should not let their Death cause your Life to end, what would they have to say about that?

I had a friend who was hit by a car. I hadn't talked to him for a few years and I regret that. But I do not regret all the good times we had when we were little kids. I know that I will see his someday and we'll have yet more good times. So don't see Death as a cruel thing to tear us apart, think of it as chance to be together forever. AND DON'T USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO COMMIT SUICIDE TO SEE THEM SOONER! That is NOT what I meant by this!

So if you find yourself depressed by losses, just think of this: Although they can no longer enjoy the good times in the physical reality, they are no longer in a place of suffering and darkness and one day, you will see them again. So be happy for them, and rejoice, do not regret, when it is your time to join them in that better place on the other side of the veil...

...boy, that sounded pretty damn flowery, hope you enjoyed a bit of my point of view on Death.

What I'm getting at is, Draco remembers all the times he could have enjoyed Life more. He could have had a friendship with Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest. He know that if he gives in to depression, then nobody will know the story, and he can't let that happen because he respects the actions and love of the friends. So he's getting over their Deaths, but never forgetting them.

If you don't like taking advise from a 14 year-old and want to be depressed anyway, then F*** you. You will go through Life alone and dejected, wallowing in misery over a loss that could one day will be replaced by eternal togetherness. If you spend your Life wishing for them back, then your Death will be spent the same way, always searching, never finding, because you couldn't simply let go and let Fate guide you to them.

I will remember and cherish the memory of loved ones and then, when it is my time to leave this world, I will spend the rest of my existence surrounded by the aura of love and peace.

OK, now I'm done. Point being, excellent story.

Author's Response: Wow. Your review kind of puts my whole story to shame :) And you are right of course... Well I'm glad you liked it anyway :)

This was so sad!! But very good at the same time - I never thought of it ending like that, with someone sacrificing themselves. Well done!!!
