This is the third piece I've read from your Severus in Profile series (other two being Happy Birthday, Lily Evans and A Flash of Scarlet), and I am feeling more compelled than ever to finally sit myself down and read everything from the beginning.

Please forgive me if the above sounded disrespectful. I love the way you portray Snape - it may be the only portrayal that fits my image of him and the canon image.

I utterly adore the line about Lily's eyes looking through James Potter's spectacles. The 'letters' to Lily broke my heart into pieces.

Brilliant. Startingly brilliant.

Poor Snape, missing Lily. Well done, another amazing one-shot.

There you go again. With your perfect description of the everyday life and thoughts. maybe that is really your strongest side ? haha, well for my matter, its really nice to read something like this for a change, overly dramatic storys are really damage to the brain. You apparently focuse a lot on Snape, and I really love that. I think i may have to read In The Eyes Of Others, since all your fics somehow seems to be connected with it.

woah... what exactly are you implying at the end? Good story though

Author's Response: Heh. Only that Severus has flashes of self-awareness about how difficult he can be, too, but if you're just determined to do the Darth-Vader thing, go right ahead! ;) Thanks!

I never thought I'd feel sorry for Severus Snape, yet my immediate reaction after reading this was 'aww bless' .*cringes*. I really liked it, it was very intriguing to get such an insight into his mind and a welcome change to have Harry painted as the bad guy through his annoying, inconsiderate behaviour. *Is so shocked at thinking good thoughts about Snape she has to shake head violently.* Well done. xx Dquill

Author's Response: I figured Harry had all sorts of opportunities to express himself about his least favourite teacher, and it was the teacher's turn to think a few thoughts on his least favourite student. Can you tell I spend a lot of time around professors? Thanks for the review!

this is absolutely delightful!

Author's Response: Thank you! This one was rather fun to write, in its own difficult and sometimes-dark little way.

Well written! What a clever idea for a story! I really like it.

Author's Response: Thank you! I have to admit this one came on after a couple of months of modding the queue and a few years of watching my spouse grade student papers. It was a natural fit.

What a nice story! I'm not exactly sure what the "solution" is though... howcome comparing the grades would make Harry's work any better? Oh well... that's probably just me! Anyway... I love how the letters to Lily are sort of mixed in to the plot of this rather short fic... and it's great how they become less and less formal. Also, Snape seems very IC and his thoughts are easy to follow and make sense!

Author's Response: Ah. Severus is being subtle -- Ron's essays have better marks, are about the same quality or maybe a little lower, and are written in black ink. His and Hermione's are proof that a Gryffindor can get a better grade than Harry is getting, and thus evidence against basic favoritism, so further indicate that Harry is himself doing something wrong. But... Severus? Say something flat-out, or even through only one layer of indirectness? To Harry? Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed this, and that the other stories you've read have brought you back for this one.

I loved it. Brilliant work, I wish I could elaborate but I must scurry off.

Author's Response: Thank you! Good luck with the scurrying, Ravenclaw ghost.

Great story!
I like to see Severus' thought on Harry. And your stories always seem so canon. I hope your write more with their interaction.
Thanks for another great read.

Author's Response: Severus has been slipping in for a little morning coffee, communicating very little, and slipping back out before I notice he's dropped off another plotbunny -- I don't seem to get to make requests on subject matter. So we'll see what's next. I'm as curious as anyone else. Thanks for the nice review!

Are you implying there maybe a chance that Snape is Harry's father? I like the idea of Snape having multi levels in his personality, you have brought out a almost fatherly quality. This is a unusual perspective, I only wish it was longer and more detailed. Feel free to contact me.

Author's Response: No, I'm pretty sure James is really Harry's father. I believe Jo has made public statements on the matter, too, just for fanfic writers. On the other hand, I do think that Severus is a sort of unacknowledged father-figure to Harry -- the one who watches over him, corrects his errors, and holds him on his broom whether appreciated by the adolescent brat or not. The rest of the "Severus In Profiile" series has elements of this perspective, though in different time periods. Happy reading and thanks for the review!

Sev should count himself luckey. at least he wasn't stuck in a bare room with Harry. with nothing to do because after three hours you get too tired to fight anymore. trust me. i know.

Author's Response: I think I won't try to write that one. For one thing, I think Severus might be able to go for a good four hours. For another thing, I think he and Harry would gang up on me afterward. Thanks for the review!

I loved it! It is totally obvous Snape had a thing for Lily. And he takes his anger out on Harry, because Snape is allways thinking "that should have been MY child.."

Author's Response: Hmm. Interesting. That's one of about a dozen thoughts I thought he might be having, and different people see different ones in the story -- which is really cool, and the fun of reviews. Thanks for leaving one!

I love that we see a similar scene in canon, but we get an entirely diffrent perspective on it. I think Snape is so misunderstood. Not just by people that hate him, but also by people that like him as a leather-pants-wearing sex god. I think here, as in all your Snapefics, you characterize him perfectly as I imagine him. I love the comparison in the last letter between Snape and Harry. It think it shows understanding of how you can like both characters instead of chosing one and hating the other. Erm....Yay? Yay!

Author's Response: 'Leather-pants-wearing sex god" -- thanks for a very hearty laugh! He just doesn't seem the leather type, does he? Silk, now, maybe. Thanks for the review! I'm glad to hear my take on Severus has followers.

Very brilliant.

I love the feeling in this fic. Once again you have managed to incorporate humour into a serious work in a tasteful and good manner. I love Harry being all sullen and stupid, and I love Severus' mixed thoughts and feelings about Harry's behaviour.

The letters are a great touch. You seem to like letters. The last one says so much about Severus' relationship with Harry it's almost scary.

I would write a more substantial review, had I found anything to really critisise... But i didn't. And I'm tired, so there you go.

Congratulations on once again writing a sublime piece of fanfiction. It blows me away!

Author's Response: *huggles Maia* You're right; letters can say a lot between the lines, as well as within. Thanks bunches, as always, for a lovely review!

oh! i liked this! well done still a little confused but it was entertaining! :D

Author's Response: A little confused? Oh, dear. That probably means I was assuming that you've read my other stuff and not that you might find this first. *slap on own wrist* Thanks for reviewing!

Another great portrayal of Snape from VV. Really, I think to you are one of the best Snape writers around, and you never fail to keep him in character.

I loved this story because it incorporated little bits of humor and wit with the main plot of Severus pondering Harry's performance in Potions class. The dialogue between Harry and Snape seemed straight out of the books, but instead of seeing only Harry's point of view, we know Snape's.

I loved the letters you included to Lily from Snape; it was very original, something that you didn't need to include but made the story that much better because you did. I especially enjoyed the very last one, because it is so odd that Snape would compare Harry to himself, even in a negative way. All the same, I thought it fitted perfectly as you described the thoughts he was thinking as "useless".

Anyways, magnificent job. I always enjoy reading what you write.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review (and the plug in Ravenclaw House as well!) It always seems to me that Harry and his least favourite professor (or the other way and least-favourite student) were more alike than would make either of them happy to admit. They're both rather clever, though not always when they want to be; they're both exceptionally stubborn; they both are equally touchy and defensive, probably due to not-dissimilar upbringings. They just happen to also be permanently at loggerheads with each other.
