This was a delight to read. I think Severus' assessment of Ginny is spot-on as probably the altogether most intelligent and most fearsome of the Weasley clan. She's a spit-fire. We just don't see enough of that in the books. You've done a great job with her here and the play between her and Snape is great, even if nobody would ever believe it happened. ;-)

I love this! Sets up a great precedent for the later Ginny-Snape stories.

What a wonderful one shot. After rereading canon for the millionth time, it's hard to imagine Snape doing something like that, but I'm afraid JKR showed us very little of his good side, at least not directly. That is why i love fics like this.

I don't think I could adequately tell you how much I enjoyed this story even if I tried. Suffice it to say, I would love to believe this is the way it really happened.

I liked that,a lot.I've never been much of a Snape fan (No offense) and the way you toldthis story made me see him in a different light. He was sacrificing how other people thought about him so a little girl wouldn't be uncomfortable and helped the same girl, and comforted her. I think it was really original and interesting and very well written. =)

Honestly, after reading your entire Snape series, I can only say I hope that DH is consistent with this. It's so well written, I just don't WANT it to become AU!

On the other hand, if it does, I'll look forward to more Snape stories from you!

Author's Response: I'm so totally utterly expecting to be AU all over the place when DH comes out. But -- I like this Severus, and this Ginny, a lot and probably will keep right on writing them. Thanks!

I think, this is my favorite part of your "Severus in Profile" series. As usual, everyone was IC, and yet Severus showed someone else, a student, that he is a good guy in the end. Ginny accepting him really showed her strength in character, which I think you portrayed very well. And the relationship between the two was quite touching. Almost Severus being the parent he never had. Really, I don't know what else to say, except that this is a masterpiece.

Author's Response: Wow! *blush* I'm fond of this one too, actually. There's so much we don't see of both of them, and yet we do know something of both, and some of it seems compatible. Thanks for the lovely review!

You really are leading up to an eventual Severus/Ginny romance, aren't you?

I really loved this. Superb characterisation, as always! (I wonder how many times I can elt you that before my reviews start getting spammy.) It was very interesting to read the quoted conversation from Severus' point of view, and to see paralell events the way you portrayed them.

And, of course, the conversation between Severus and Ginny is utterly heart-breakingly sweet! You keep surprising me by writing these cute, fluffy things. It's confusing to go from the dark and angsty to the cute and fluffy so suddenly...

As always, you manage to keep a red thread throughout all of your fanfiction. It's not easy to keep a universe so consistent when one also has to pay attention to canon facts along the way.

Very nice story anyway. Gold star and cookies for you! :)

Author's Response: *happily nibbles cookies*

Thanks for reviewing! I think, if you get right down to it, I love flangst. A little humor to sharpen up the dark edges, a little cuddle to make the angst hurt more, a little fluff to make the hard blow harder... Contrasts are cool. (How's that for a rambly reply?)

I think the canon facts help keep me anchored in this little Veridiverse; I'm consistent by working around these lovely little hints and details Jo gives us, or at least I try to be. Once I have a theory about what was going on offscreen, then that theory is entrenched. We didn't see where Severus went from the staff room in CoS, or what happened with Ginny in the hospital, so there wasn't anything to say they were not in the same place. Neither of them is likely to tell Harry, after all!

It's fun to see pieces of the HP stories from Snape's point of view. And I really love to see the caring side of Snape, because I do think he has one. I remember from COS that Snape's hands tightened on the back of the chair when he found out it was Ginny Weasley that had been taken to the chamber. Your subtle story catches that equally subtle hint from JKR and expands upon it gently. Excellent story. More, please!

Author's Response: Thanks! The funny thing is, the subtle moment that bunnied a lot of this story was a different one: "Bill doesn't like him either," says Ginny when there's a mass Snape-bashing going on. She voices no opinion of her own, which is a bit unusual for her. On the other hand, six brothers plus Harry and Hermione are a lot to disagree with. I'm pondering another story of Severus and Ginny, honest!

Ooo so giggley, not that Severus would giggle. Only a little smirk from him. Severus Snape has always been one of my favourite HP characters, but he's even more enjoyable through the complex characterisation you give him. You're such a writer, thinking up all these little vignettes showing us some yet unexplored part of Severus. So wonderfully delightful, a hundred times better than a bowl of strawberries and cream on a hot summer day.

Author's Response: Thanks for the lovely review! A smirk indeed, and I love playing with the idea that Harry has been overlooking all sorts of things about Severus out of sheer muley prejudice. Somehow he's the professor Harry knows the most about and still understands the least.

Another brilliant story! The way you portray Snape is just brilliant and i liked the way you compared Ginny to Lily.

Author's Response: Thanks! JKR suggested they might be a good bit alike; Severus had to notice too, which made me wonder how he and Ginny might get along. Interestingly, when her brothers are slandering Severus, all she adds is "Bill doesn't like him either." Her own opinion isn't given.

Ooh, good ending. This is very well-written and ties in well with canon. You have an amazing characterization of Snape. 'Nuff said. It must be from all your fics; you probably churn out wonderful writing such as this by now. But then again, maybe not. I've really nothing bad to say for it, other than Ginny's eyes are brown, not blue.

"There were other forms of magic in the world than the basic British Hermetic variety." Ummm...*admits she is confused*

But am I missing something? The stone, Cassandra, allusions to a secret...I'm assuming this ties into one or more of your other fics.

"Gryffindors forgot to be intimidated at the strangest moments." Possibly one of my favourite lines in this piece. So humorous, so Severus, and so true! And on that note, I must leave you...(I'm sorry that this review was distinctly abrupt)

Author's Response: As always, this Ravenclaw is delighted to have a review from the House ghost. Every now and then Severus turns up for a cup of coffee and gives me another Legilimency lesson, and another story comes out of it. Whether that's easy writing or not I will leave to the readers' imaginations. "Hermetic" is from the traditions of Hermes Trismegistus -- it's an esoteric but legitimate term for the variety of magic we generally see in the Potterverse, but I like to think that the various branches of Shamanic magic would have followers as well. Unfortunately a lot of this ties to a half-fic that I cannot learn the end of. I'll go fix Ginny's eyes; for some reason I just assumed they matched Ron's.

I loved the interaction between snape and ginny. dont know if any more chapters r planed or not but it would be interesting to see more in this story

Author's Response: There are other interactions that might be worth a story, but I'm not sure they'd make chapters, exactly. *ponders* Thanks for the review!
