The poet was Wilfred Owen for chapter 45. Hope that helps!
Author's Response: Yep--lots of people "discovered" it for me!
Wow, I have just finished reading all the chapters you have put up and I can't wait for the last few! Its really lovely to have a different take on book 7. I did love DH but I was really sad that it was the end of Harry, thats why I decided to start reading fan fic but I never expected a whole other version! Thanks for making my last week! Please post the new chapters soon. So Sad Tura had to die :-( Poor Harry, but at least he got Sirius back. Keep up the good work! ~Fi~
Author's Response: There's still more left to this story, too...
oooooooh it was Toady??? As the traitor? Why didn't i see it coming? I'm so excited!! I think i like this version better than JKR's! (Oh JKR, please forgive me for ever uttering such a thing, I promise I'll go and re-read DH as soon as i'm done with this story, just to make it up to you)
Author's Response: Eh, she'll get over it.
how many chapters to you plan on writing? I had read this story but I lost track. I'm going to wait until the story is completed so I can start over. It is a much better feeling knowing that the story has an end.
Even though I haven't read it in a long time (not even the most recent chapter) I love this story BTW, just to let you know.
Author's Response: The story is 49 chapters. All the rest are finished and have been for some time. I just had to get through the middle. Glad you like it!
yay i get to pat myself on the back! I still think tura's death and pointless....-.-' but thats perhaps bc I liked her.
Author's Response: Well, there's still a few more twists to this story... read on.
Marvelous chapter. I must be bloodthirsty. I was hoping that Voldermort died an excrutiating death. But he's toast so that's all that matters. Eileen's mother and father must be related to the Blacks or the Malfoys or even Salazar S. Aren't most pure-bloods related? I say that because most of the PB's sure knew how to fudge up the self-esteem of their children. The author has totally cleared up the issue of why Severus is so deeply maladjusted. Severus not only had to put up with his hateful Muggle father but his hateful PB grandparents as well.
Breaking Fawkes' bond was another stroke of genius.Having Fawkes save harry and Snape is great. I hope we are due for a great shift in the relationship between HP and SS.
from ch 37
Peredhil may refer to one of the Half-Elven brothers, Elrond or Elros so for Harry to skim his mind and come up with half-blood was very neat.
Love this story. There seems to be a repeating thread. The Bad Boys and Girls of Heirs still have some source of light within them. Unlike Voldermort who was just bad to the bone.
Another great chapter ending. I feel bad for Fawkes. I hope he gets a chance to rest.
Author's Response: I think everyone has the potential for light and dark--so I try to bring out a little of each in everyone. Peredhil--that's exactly what the word means and who it refers to, good work! The Silmarillion crossover aspects of this story are my favorite part.
Oooo Fantastic chapter!!! I love how fast the updates are coming!! It makes me very happy and excited ;-)
Author's Response: I told you guys the rest of the book was done...just some of those middle chapters were killing me.
ok, I'm at aloss here. I desperately want to see this chapter art, but i can't find it!! I can't find the dean's corner, and the searches and google just aren't helping. AAAAARRRRGGGH. There. Frustration vented. WOuld you mind putting in the link to the art, or at least giving me detailed instuctions how to get to it? Thank you so much! Great story by the way! This is fascinating!
Author's Response: hmmm...you might have to be a member of the fanfic forums iin order to view the Dean's Corner thread. I think the easiest way might be to go to Photobucket.com and look in my album. I think it will let you do that. My member name there is Flibby, and then you'll want to look under the sub-album "Heirs of Slytherin".
original writer was Horace
modern writer was Wilfred Owen
Not what I envisioned for Harry's meeting with Voldemort.. Almost campy. I suppose Tura had to die but then why the reference to Harry's seed? Voldemort playing little mind games with someone he hates and who has beaten him before. Less than stellar.
Back when Tura mentioned her angel and how she had the job he had wanted for years, I felt it was Snape. Now I'm sure but somehow I must have missed something in a prior chapter. I did like the feel of the mental skirmishes. No offense to anyone but I have always felt that the Harry of JKR was too weak, too magically ignorant to be a real champion. Your Harry seems more like a mixture of James and Sirius, magically powerful, physically powerful and.way less childish. Love him. I'm hoping that all the people who were spoken of as dead was just blustering on the part of the enemy. But......
Author's Response: *pouts* Well, I suppose ya can't be on target every time. I've never really liked canon Voldy--Tom Riddle was scary and complex, but modern Voldy was boringly stereotypical to me. Standard hockey-mask-wearing-axe-murderer type. rnrnTura: You didn't miss anything in an earlier chapter--but a lot more will be coming up soon.rnrnHarry: I think with good influences like Siri, Lupin, and of course the rest of the Trio, Harry could grow into a pretty cool guy. The slacker Harry of canon always rubbed me the wrong way too.
Great chapter.
FYI Before you go paperback. I spotted a few typos in the preceeding chapters.
Author's Response: Yeah, one of the reasons it's taking so long to paginate is that I'm also proofreading it--typos, grammar, AND story continuity. I think/hope the final copy will be 99.99% correct--100% is too much to hope for.
wow. quick response. just make sure that next chaters up just as quick. lol
Author's Response: *snerk* Well, no guarantees there. I like to give people some time to read them...
wilfred owen wrote that fabulous poem. but, to be honest, your stories better. a great chapter for a great book. thnaks for writing it!!!
Author's Response: Awww... thanks! More to come...
Tura doesn't surprise me near as much as the Dumbledore thing did. But as in real life, believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. I'll wait to make a judgement. Still a great ending.
okay... you know what to do! get the next part up pronto!
Author's Response: *giggle* Let me give people a couple days to read it...
Interesting take on the horcrux thing. I was wondering why they weren't destroyed immediately. The writer had a plan for them. Can't wait to read about their destruction. Nice idea regarding the bonding of Fawkes. For me, there was not near enough punishment for Bellatrix. No where near enough. But that must mean she'll pop up somewhere else. Nice connective chapter.
I may have forgotten to comment on the wonderful way the writer did away with the portrait of Mrs Black. Loved it.
Not trying to write your story but isn't it time for Sirius to either discover a love child that he fathered or find someone he fancies? Just hoping....LOL
Thank you for offering your readers a chance to get a copy of Heirs. However, except for reading on Mugglenet, I audio all my books. It' s easier to concentrate that way.
Author's Response: LMAO--re, Sirius... Not on THIS archive, sadly. But I do have some "bonus chapters" elsewhere (and several in my head) that kinda touch on this topic...rn
excellent chapter........
as for the line dulce et decorum est pro patria mori, it was originally written by horace but later in a poem by wilfred owen
Author's Response: Very thourough! You're the first one to identify both sources.
Perfect chapter, perfect content, perfect ending. No offense meant to anyone but this is how the 7th book should have been and as long as you don't end it with.....19 years later, this is a smash. Smooches.
Author's Response: LOL, well, that was the ideal. It's not perfect, but I thought it came closer than DH...rnrnFunny you should mention...I wrote the last chapter for this well over a year ago, and it does have a bit of "Where they are now," but I think it has a totally different feel from Rowling's...you'll see soon enough, it's Chapter 49...
Sorry. The part about Dumbeldore, not even plausible to me. But of course I may need to read on for something more to come out. The writer totally redeemed himself with the Tura/Harry/Neville portion. And that biddy Umbridge, a stroke of genius. I am loving this Harry character. I am loving this author.
Author's Response: ! Well, it worked for me, obviously. Write me an email--I'm curious why you don't see Dumbles as being capable of this. BTW, I'm a "she," not a "he." Hee hee hee!
OH wow!! This is good. What a cliffie. Haary and Voldie, down to knives not wands, who would have thunk it!
Author's Response: Me, I guess! :-)
Let's hear it for the Vampires. Rock On! Ondossi is going up a few notches in my book. Didn't really want to touch on Harry punching a woman but, sometimes sh^t happens. Perfect, Ron is showing some leadership capabilities. I knew he had it in him. I am loving this story so much. This writer makes everything so visual. This writer is prefecting a character (Harry) who at first blush seemed to good to be true. Harry's character iin this story is the way he should have been from jump street. In the original stories he was a weak whiner but as I read thi story I know how the original stories should have read. A stronger, more rounded boy/man.
Don't know where this Tura/Harry thing is going but I'll definitely find out.
Forgot to mention that Viktor and Hermione are a great couple. Bravo. The writer was so smooth the way he had Ron adapt to the pairing. I hope Ron goes for Luna and it works out. Luna and Neville are other characters that I like a lot. You're doing so great it is time to bring Neville up to snuff. ( I know that I am reading and reviewing long after the story has been written. But I can hope, can't I? As they say, BRILLIANT!!!!!
Author's Response: Wow, cool! I'm glad you're enjoying it so. I just couldn't handle the whole Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione thing--come on, NOBODY marries their middle school sweetheart--especially if you have a 150-year+ life expectancy. Herm/Viktor is already cutting it pretty close.rnrnNeville has a few moments yet in the story, but it's gotta be about HP, right? I wish there was room to cover them all, they're all such neat characters to fill in.
