I also, like your other reviewers, liked this one-shot very much. It shows a very different side to Dumbledore and his life. This kind of story is very hard to find. I've yet to read one that reports not only on Dumbledore, but about his love life and from the point of view of the Daily Prophet - something that I think is very hard to accomplish.
We have always wondered about Dumbledore's love life. I know for a fact that each of us has thought about if he ever had a wife or still has one. And also if he has any children. I have always thought that either Dumbledore's wife died long ago before Harry came to Hogwarts, or he never had one. But this is a very interesting way to put things.
Apart from liking that you wrote about Dumbledore and his past life, I liked the fact that you did add a bit of humor into it with the triplet, who very much remind me of the Weasley twins *wonders if they were inspired by the twins*. The bit of humor with them was a very nice touch. It wasn't too much to make the fic seem like a humor fic, which it very much isn't. But, I did think they would play a bigger role. I think that you could have used them as something bigger than the part they played.
Other things that I thought you'd elaborate in this is the part of Grindelwald. All we saw him do was walk into the forest them disapparate. I admit that I did expect him to have a bigger role in this, even thought it was about Casandra's death.
But I do remember seeing a fic, I think it was by you (pretty sure it is) that has the scene where she died. If so, I think you could have tied a bit of that into this to make it better.
Overall, very nicely written! I like the way you made it all seem like a Daily Prophet article. Very nice and enjoyable piece!
Author's Response: Wow, KC, Thanks! Your reviews are always so appreciated. You always have such in depth comments to make. :) As for the triplets, they are indeed based on a set of twins. My younger brothers and their best friend. Chris, Skyler and Chad. The three amigos, so to speak. They fit so well into the mold for the bit of comedic humor I needed to lighten a very sad article. Thank you for your nice review!
Wow, brave of aberforth. I liked this... a clever way to look into the past by created a news article. Really original, like all of your writing.
Author's Response: Thank you!
Another great one!! I hope after book 7 Jo does something like this.
Author's Response: I would just fall over in my chair if she did! I love your reviews! Don't mind my short reply, I have to go kill some people.
Wah! That is something isn't it! I definitely wasn't expecting the 'Albus has lost the love of his life.' Very unique. I like it a lot.
Author's Response: :) Thank you so much! Somehow I pictured them as a late in life couple. After she had already been married and had kids... I'm glad you like it.
FIrst reviewer! I thought it was very good. If Harry Potter was real, you would DEFINATELY work for the Daily Prophet. Bravo.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review! I'm glad you liked it. Just a bit of funny information, you know, cause I'm funny like that. The triplets are based on my real life twin brothers (who could give Fred and George a run for their money) and their best friend. Chris, Skyler and Chad, whose names have obviously been legthened. The best part about them is the last name. When I was struggling for a good name, a friend, who was throwing out all kinds of generic American names, called out Morris. Then, when I gave her a dirty look, told me just to say it backwards, that it sounded funny. So I did, and I fell in love with the name.
One other funny fact. The reporters name is based on two of my favorite things in life. Santha comes from Chrysanthamum, my favorite flower (hopefully in keeping, however slightly, with JK's traditions). And, Rockeye is my FANTABULOUS Beta. Hence the name.
