Chapter: Curves

Hi! I read this story a long time ago, and did not review, because I didn't have an account then. Anyays, I agree that Slughorn is a perverted pedophile. And I can totally see Lily being creeped out by that horny Chauvanist. And even though Lily may have a beautiful womanly body anf face, she is still a kid. And no one, including Ole' Sluggie has any buissness looking at her that way. But what I also enjoyed about in the story is the relationship between Lily and Snape. I think that is definately a possible theory. I loved it.

Author's Response: Welcome to account-holder-ness! You know, I'm honestly not sure about Slughorn -- whether he is in fact a pervert or if he just seemed that way to Lily. There are certainly some creepy-sounding remarks in HBP, though. There are also a few that suggest that Severus didn't altogether like his Potions professor, and we know he doesn't consider that a good excuse for doing badly in his own class. Thanks for reviewing! The Severus/Lily musings have bunnied a huge number of stories for me.

Chapter: Curves

This was your first fic I read, and thankfully it led me to check out the Severus in Profile series. Now I'm going back so I can enjoy it all again! Oh and it did make sense with out reading itEoO, but reading Curves again afterwards made more sense, naturally.

And urg... the descriptions of Slughorn were so spot on; I hear the smacking wet lips and see the light reflecting off his slimy saliva and sweat. You're amazing.

And it's really nice to hear Lily's voice. Seeing her difficulties through her eyes is something Severus can't do; it clarified some of Lily and Severus' similarities, showing how it was reasonable that they would be close friends. It also shows how the relationship was two-way, not just Lily protecting Severus from the Marauders.

Everything's so wonderfully well-thought-out. As a reader it's a relief and a pleasure to read a fic that's smart, skillful, and stylistically pleasing all at once.

Author's Response: Thank you! This happened to be the sort of morning where a review like this is particularly nice to have. The relationship between Lily and Severus seemed to have the potential for two-sidedness to me, but from his own point of view -- well, he tended to feel permanently in-debt. Lily's Patronus was the only way to slip in her side of it all in the other story, and turned out to be one of those odd little coincidences that I've come to expect when writing about Severus. I had noted a certain Coleridgean line developing for him, and so wanted Lily to have an albatross. The fact that the only albatross common in the North Atlantic region happens to have black eyes, black wings, a white face, and a whopper of a beak was a stroke of luck. What would Severus bring to a friendship? Well, anyone he loves is probably very, very safe when he's around. Thanks again for reviewing!

Author's Response: Such a nice review I'll reply to it twice too! Thanks!

I loved the story, although it would be nice if you continued the story, because i want to read more. That's just me because I love to read and want everything to go on. I LOVED your story, it was wicked.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm pondering its future now that I'm not being carried off by a rabid plotbunny of a different colour. I know what happens to Lily over the next few months; making a plot with a tidy ending is another matter altogether.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I'll dig out from under the plotbunnies and see where I am, and perhaps this wil un-one-shot itself. Meanwhile, try "Curse of the Toad." James/Lily with a twist. It might tide you over for a few more minutes...

Oh, the self-consciousness! The awkwardness of it all! Being 16 sucked. I'd love to have my body from back then again but at the time I didn't know what to do with it. You've captured the feeling wonderfully.

Author's Response: Thanks! It did, didn't it? And that's a rather fine summary you've just written about the matter, too. I wouldn't mind getting that body back either, though it was better at 25 or so. *late-bloomer's sigh*

That's twice in one day you've made me giggle inappropriately. Tsk. For shame dear. *gigglesnerk*

Author's Response: For shame?? I take pride in my talents!

Ahh that terrible age of sixteen. When you think you know everything there is to know and adults are just stupid and don't know anything. You are still akward in your skin and hormones and attitude are raging everywhere you turn. This is a lovely addition to your series. Very well done, just wish Severus would come round and make up. sorry about the reminising it was such a long time ago couldn't help it =) Cheers VV.

Author's Response: Yep, that age indeed. It was a while ago, but acutely remembered. And of course he can't imagine that he could make up, or that he deserves to be forgiven if Lily would forgive him... Poor both of them. Thanks for review and cheers!

Alas, love is a joke with no punch line. No punch line what so ever. I`m off to go write letters to a sertain someone. And never send them. *sigh*

Author's Response: Good luck with the unsent letters to somebody clueless! And thanks for the review.

Aww a very good update. I like the way you showed how Lily could've been feeling at the time. I'm glad you added another piece to the lovely collection!

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought perhaps there was a shortage of stories where Lily has exactly the same worries and concerns anyone else would have, sometimes all piled up on top of each other. Harry tends to imagine her as perfect, and it rubs off on the rest of us. At sixteen or so, nobody's perfect.

Author's Response: ??? Yes, dear. Utterly inappropriate. You're waiting for Rosier and Wilkes to get swirlies, aren't you?

Poor Lily...Slughorn, following her with his eyes, and maybe she is being hypersensitive, and maybe she isn't...You know, if a teacher had been leering at me when I was 16 I doubt I would have even realized it. You know, she ought to ask McGonagall's advice as a female, or Poppy's, and she never will, because it hasn't occurred to her so far that they are not only authority figures, but fellow women as well.

What a particularly unappealing addition to what we know about Carter (What those of us who've read ItEoO--Do we really know anything at all about him from Canon? Was he even in?) But then, it is so sad about him and Annie...
(if you haven't read it, get with the program, people...)

Author's Response: And maybe he's just watching her because she's shrinking so, and he wonders what's wrong -- and maybe not. It's a tricky thing for her to ask about, isn't it? McGonagall would probably breathe fire at the very idea, too.

Unappealing? Yep, Carter is a soft-bodied and sneaky math geek. A basically good sort, though. He's an OC, found nowhere in canon. Thanks for the promo, and the review!
