wow this again also made me cry. I understand why ron and hermione were caught up with eachother but poor harry. His guilt is eating him alive. He has to find his way out of this gloom it's finally over he deserves so much better. He can be happy and he promised to go back.

Chapter: Chapter 1: Run

After reading Part II today I remembered that i neglected to leave a review for Part I yesterday because my computer crashed, so thought i'd leave a quick one now.
I've very rarely come across a fic that while having so few chapters it still feels as though I've read a huge tome. This was one oc the most painful and saddening pieces and I loved it. I know that sentence sounds self-contradictory, but hopefully you know what i mean. You were so beautifully descriptive that i was Harry repulsed by having killed, I was Ginny wanting but uable to hate Harry for running and leaving. The post battle scene was very real, so differenct from the others I've read. Despite this being a Harry Potter fan fiction, if you remove the magic and alter the names theres a universal quality to it. I learned so much about myself, understodd things that have been eluding me for years, just from six chapters. The whole concept of being lost and the warehouse being a means of finding yourself again fascinated me. You seem to have thoroughly explored and explained one of the biggest parts of human nature in this story, whether this was the whole point or just a by product i'm sure i don't know, either way i thank you for it. The visits to his parents graves were the most heartbreaking and memorable moments for me, because thats exactly how I'd be, and have been on occasion after losing someone. And lastly I really liked the way you ended things. I have and always will have a soft spot for fluffy happily ever afters, however, I'm always most powerfully drawn to the more realistic of endings, something which you have so graciously provided. I apologise if this review is very disjointed and rambling, I often find it difficult to explain myself. Just know that you are a fantastic author.

Author's Response: Thank you very much for everything. And to be perfectly honest, I did intend this to be an introspective piece. In fact the entire inspiration with this story stemmed from a single moment in the books where there is a hint that Harry feels pity for Voldemort, and so I really wanted to explore that emotion and that reaction. In fact this remains one of my peeves with the final Potter book (and I hear that I'm not alone), that after all the set up for some true emotional introspection, JKR ended the series ina rather pedestrian good vs. evil kind of way. In any case this story marked a seachange in my writings here in that before this story everything was fluff, but at this point I had really kind of broken into exploring other themes and stuff. But I'm terribly glad that you enjoyed this because when I went and made that change it was all about inciting reactions and connecting with the reader and responses like this are exactly what I'm talking about. So thank you, and if I don't respond to your other review immediately, I'm sorry. Under the old system if I didn't have time to respond to a review I would at least drop a single sentence to say I read and would respond later, but now I can only respond once to a review.

i love your stories and i think youre AMAZING!! when i read the actual harry potter books i get this feeling inside... its like a lot of built up energy, and this tingly feeling that makes me smile... and its very exciting. I have read a fair amount of fan fiction, but it seems that only the series of fiction youve written gives me that same feeling. you are an awsome author, and i thank you for sharing you talent with others. =D

Author's Response: High praise, and I think that is something especially considering the fact that I don't think you've yet read what I believe the best stories in the collection are. I can't wait to read your reaction to part II and Part III. And, when you're done with those, I truly hope you'll come join me on the website where I have a good amount of extra material related to these stories (DONT JUMP AHEAD AND START READING IT NOW!), and then for my own story which, by the time you finish the next two stories I should be on chapter five or six for. Thank you again (note: yes, ever review response I give now will be a shameless self plug for my own website since I have finished writing fanfiction for good).

You are a terrific author and I'm so glad you're sharing your gift with this community. Absolutely breathtaking.

Author's Response: I thank you very much, I truly appreciate it. I'm not sure breathtaking is the right word, but if you insist... Actually, the funny thing is, you, and another reader, have yet to make it through the last two stories which I feel were my best work here. In any case, I hope to hear from you soon, and see ya on my website. Thank you again.

Ok keeping up with my little string of reviews let me just say that i absolutly LOVE the happy note that this story starts out on!! First sentence, "Smoke mixed with the stench of death as it wafted up from the cold, muddy ground."
LOL!!! Ok moving along... I love how this story portrays the aftermath of the final battle, cuz to be honest with u this is more along the lines of how i picture it myself. it seems like evey other story written about the immediate post-battle has everyone being all happy go lucky and what-not, but i personally agree with u that it would be something along these lines. by the way i love the pattern your stories follow *happy, sad, happy, sad, and so on and so forth. i guess i might as well add that this is also an exellent story!!! and now, without further ado ON TO EPILOGUES PART II: THE EIGHTH YEAR"!!!!!

Author's Response: Okay, I have been lagging on responding to my reviews, so I promise to respond to this one and many others sometime tonight... PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE! Just not right now as I got a bunch of other stuff to do.

aawww!!! great ending!!! i had never read a dark/angsty fic or watever and i was worried i wasnt going 2 like it. but i did, although that mite have something to do with the fact that u wrote it. lol! i think i'll stick with the romance fics though. :)

Author's Response: I'm honored that my writing let you take a chance. All I can say is that I encourage you to continue taking those chances. My latest work, and what I think and some of my readers think is my best work does not have much romance in it at all, yet, it is the story, or at least the prelude to the story I always wanted to tell. In a way, falling into a story is not about feeling what you want to feel, that's safe and kind of boring. It's about opening yourself up and letting yourself feel what is out there to be felt. Again thank you so much, it was an honor and I'm glad you're still reading my stories.

yay!!! congrats to ron and hermione!! great chapter btw!! i was afraid harry wasnt going 2 go back!

Author's Response: Thank you. Of course he was going to go back, what was I going to have him do? Really? Well, I'm glad you enoyed this one, it was really one of the hardest chapters to write, so I never get tired of people telling me they enjoyed it.

Chapter: Chapter 4: Conversations With Dead People

that conversation with dumbledore was so well written!! and i couldnt believe jacobs was a squib! but very good chapter!!

Author's Response: Thank you. One thing I do kind of miss is writing as Dumbledore. As you are reading right now, he sort of gets replaced by Rathius, whom I also love to write, but with Dumbledore, you get this wondrous flourish with language, this eccentricity in expression which is so terribly fun to write. Each sentence takes you on a journey and you have to kind of wind your way around it to get to even simple concepts. Thank you very much and I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.

that bearly made me cry!!! it was so sad!!! but who sent the letter?

Author's Response: Gee, okay, I'm going to warn you now, I mean, I definitely put some tear worthy stuff in this chapter, but I think you've got some much worse things waiting for you down the road. But, don't fret, I like the emotional connection when it develops. I'm glad you're making that connection with these stories.
