Reviews For Electives

This was excellent. It's interesting to see what strange reasons nudge us to choose one class or another. I myself chose religious studies to fill up my timetable and annoy my support workers who insisted that my disability meant I wasn't capable of completing the same number of courses as my friends. Ironic that RS was the only exam in which i recieved a grade A. Anyway, my favourite part of this fic was - After two winters in Slytherin House, he had reached a conclusion. Hell might or might not exist, but if it did, it held no fires. It was stony and damp, with chill breezes at unexpected moments and cold toilet seats. - don't ask me why, it just really stuck out and gave me a wonderful mental picture of life as a slytherin. I like how you've given Remus an interest in animals, nice to see he doesn't always dwell on his lycanthropy as in other fics and it's something he carried forward to when he taught DADA in Harry's third year. And it's amazing how even in matters relating to possible future classes, James Potter can't help himself when it comes to Lily Avans, will it help him understand her joke about the electrician and the barmaid, I ask you. Have you another oneshot somewhere in which we hear that joke, I'd love to know what it was and if it is indeed the same one that Snape is thinking of?

Finally, someone showing something from a different point of view. It is wonderful

Author's Response: Finally? I'm going to send you to cor_leonis, capella_black, Kerichi, Slian Martreb, and BlackClaude for a little variety in your diet! There's some good stuff hiding in Marauder-Era, here, and a whole lot of Snapefans.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reviewing!

This is a great one-shot, as well as a cool addition to "In the Eyes of Others". Though I'm not sure why you didn't just add it to that story, I very much enjoyed reading it on its own, too.
Severus' thoughts make sense and are IC. His feelings about embarrassment are also realistic and very human. Also, the comparison between the Marauders, who do everything together, and Severus who does everything alone, it felt very clearly. All in all, this was a great part of your "Severus in Profile" series!

Author's Response: I feel funny wedging new chapters into a posted story, is all, and this was bunnied by a discussion of how to make Marauders more like real characters. "What classes did they choose?" I asked in the thread, and suddenly -- wham. Character sketch. Thanks for the review!

Love the last line, love the characterization, love the subject, love the story. Excellent. Well done.

Author's Response: Aw shucks. Thanks!

Very good way to choose courses. I think he should have taken Care of Magical Creatures, though. Just imagine the funny stories there could be involving Severus, Sirius, and something vicious and furry, other than werewolf Remus, of course!

Author's Response: And here I was pondering whether a story about Severus and something mad and hairy was coming on. He seems to be more in the mood for dark these days, so we'll see. *ponders* Thanks for reviewing!

Hmmm... This was rather interesting, yet at times confusing. It was good, but it was rather different from things I usually read. The vocabulary was smoothly blended into your story. I enjoyed reading it.

Author's Response: Thanks! Here's to 'different.'

I absolutely love these tiny snapshots of Severus! I really enjoy your series "Severus in Profile" keep adding to it!

Author's Response: Thanks! There's another one in beta- mode at the moment, and we'll see what happens.

A lovely little additition to your Snape collection, I love the idea that the foursome could be heard with ease from all over the hall. And I really liked Severus's way of choosing classes. Well done!

Author's Response: Twice!

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm sure all of the rest of us choose our classes for far better reasons. *whistles innocently* And we've all known a set of boisterous boys at some point, too, and unless we were they we were annoyed by them. Thanks for reviewing!

"That left less well-founded ways to choose a class. He knew he wanted to be as far from the dungeons as possible, as often as possible."

Yeah, good luck with that, Severus. As always, a wonderufl read.

Author's Response: Well, he does seem to spend a lot of his time in the staff room, the corridors, the courtyard, and the Forbidden Forest, or wherever else Harry can trip over him best... But yes, he does seem to be well and truly stuck down there, doesn't he?

Thanks for reviewing!

Hello again VV. As always your stories make my day a lot brighter. So glad to have you back with new bunnies. Cheers!

Author's Response: Thanks! More bunnies soon, I'm sure, though I'm working on some longer stories. I'm glad this was a day-brightener for you!

Very interesting view of Snape's decision-making process. I suppose that when it comes down to the choice between fire and ice for the end of the world, we know what he's betting on.

I'm glad to see someone used teir time away from the forums well. All I managed was getting Neville's gran into Madam Puddifoot's and snagging a good table for Luna and Ginny in the library...

Author's Response: Severus just dropped in to say he's betting on prats raining from the sky, but he seems to be in one of those moods today. This is actually an older sketch I dug up and still liked, so my time away from the forums was more of a git-er-done thing on the Masters. I'm looking forward to your Neville! Thanks for the review!

that was very well written, i enjoy the way you portry snape's personality and reasoning so well.

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! I enjoy working through his reasoning at various ages; this was a good puzzle for him.

Very good! It was fun to read, and I'm glad I did so.

Author's Response: Thanks! The original discussion was whether a choice of classes could be used to further a character sketch -- I'm glad it didn't seem too much like an exercise to you.
