Chapter: Chapter 5: Fireside and Moonlight

I have a confession. I've read not only this fic without leaving a review, but also Everybody Does It and Right Here. In my defence, the reason isn't chronic laziness (though that is a part of it) but also being very very busy and as you probably gathered from my review in Shadows I like to be able to leave decent reviews. It's just the matter of having enough time. So I'm sorry for not R/R-ing but I haven't had the time and now I'm finally getting round to it!

As you have said in nearly all your responses that you like this story the least, it was with some trepidation that I actually started reading it. I admit that, at first, I was slightly disappointed. The story wasn't bad by any means, but it lacked a bit of the sparkle that Shadows had which marked it out as better than the rest. However I continued reading, partly because I was interested to see how you would end Harry's Good Day and partly because I am an obsessive R/Hr H/G fan and like fics which have both pairings.

Then I got to chapter 5 and my feelings changed completely. I now understand why you wrote the rest of the story the way you did and I agree with it 100%. I love the way you intertwined the two couples' stories and switched between the two so easily.

The talk between Ron and Hermione is dialogue written at its best and although I thought that it was a little bit drawn out, I really enjoyed the argument between Harry and Ginny too. I found the bit when Harry was listing all the people he loved very moving.

The final paragraph works really well too and you end the whole thing off nicely with the repetion of the title. All in all, very, very good. So sorry again for the delay in reviewing and I promise I will review the other two asap- I adored Right Here.

Well Done and keep writing,x~Diamond Quill~x

Author's Response: No apologies are needed, though I do hope you do get a chance to review the other two stories as well. And I truly appreciate the review.

Also, I'm sure you have noticed that I like to put some time and such in my responses, so anyway, here we go. Yeah, I make it pretty obvious that I like this story the least, and it's because of the meandering fluffiness of the first four chapters. To be honest I think that was just an excercize in characterization more than anything, you know, trying to anticipate how these characters would act in such and such a situation. The other part of the first four chapters was totally about me catering to a certain audience, and I don't know. And then yeah, there's chapter five, and I really liked writing that, and you'll notice that I continue to go back to that over and over again. I think with both scenes... Well, I used to beta read and such and before I got so engrossed in my own writing I used to read other stories, and two things I would see an awful lot are proposals and gifts. Like, I would read a scene where Harry proposes to Ginny, and as I read it I would tick off things that I would think were "wrong" in my head. And the gifts, like for christmas and birthdays, and it's just I think the whole scene started off with just wanting to do a very real or what seemed to me to be a real touching wedding proposal and showing a very real gift giving instance. What I loved about the locket is that I still get usage out of that now in epilogues part II. Okay, rambling now, and I should probably put this response out of its misery now. Thank you for the review and can't wait for the rest.

Oh and btw, I only read this last chapter, so I had the impression of a one-shot, which works just as good:)

Author's Response: I think for any other story I would have been offended, but for this one, I'm almost appreciative as this chapter is obviously more important than the rest. This is not only the chapter with content and substance, but it's also the chapter to which allude in other stories.

I like it. I like how Hermione refuses but Ron makes her understand, I like how Harry and Ginny has this kind of understanding eachother all the time, and I like those little moments where everything is good before the war begins.

Author's Response: Wrote a long review, got timed out, uber pissed about it. summation: Thank you, and I just realized that I pulled a lot of this story from military experiences, and those days before you have to go away, and how they change into something different as the hours to departure tick away.

I actually did cry at this story. I'm not even joking its so sweet. If Harry doesn't come back for a lifetime of good days, then i might have to track you down...
And if Ron and Hermione don't get married and produce hundreds of tiny little ginger children, i will track you down even sooner...
I actually think you are a genius.

Author's Response: YAY! I'm almost to the point where I cheer when I make people cry. I love it. Really, I love writing emotionally, and I love it more when those emotions carry over enough to induce tears. Thank you so much for that. As for you tracking me down... I'm pretty much toast I think...

this was a very good story definitely one of my favorites. Can't wait to read the others.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. It's the least favorite of mine that I've written, really. So Iguess that means I can't wait until you read the others also.

And also, do you just spy on in-love teenagers to get your material? I've never seen anything closer to it. Keep it up, though. ;)

Author's Response: No, and I was pitifully out of love when Iw as a teenager. I think maybe I live out my hormonal teenage phase vicariously through these characters is all. Thanks.

She was driving a Mercedes?! And I still love the passion and humor. You should do this for a living. (LOVED the comment about the Death Eaters....bwahaha!)

Author's Response: Thank you. Yeah, I imagine ifher parents are dentists, she's probably driving a mercedes. I wish I did this for a living, but I don't... just a hobby. Thank you so much for everything.

I love the passion. You don't find a story like this anymore. Ron's comment at the end just sweetened the deal. ;)

You have a wonderful writing style that I believe many others lack. While like any other female I enjoy the soppy relationship stuff it was great to see the subtle character developments you made for each and every one of our heroes. Well done on this fic, I will certainly be looking the others up, if only to see whether they reach my expectations!

Author's Response: OH wow, thank you ever so much for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed this story, and I gotta tell you, I really can't wait for you to read what's yet to come as I see this as my worst story in fanfiction. Thank you again, and hope to hear from you later.

That was definantly a great chapter. You threw me a curve ball at the end, totally unexpected. But thats what makes it great. I am such a Hr/R fan so that scene of the proposal had me in tears, than theres a double wamie with H/G on the love issue....pretty intence. What can I say, you had me glued to my computer. I cant wait to read your next stories.

Author's Response: And I seriously can't wait until you've read them. Especially if you're an Hr/R fan. For the most part I follow the progression of H/G, but I have a couple more R/Hr scenes up my sleeve, and I really can't wait for your response to those. Thank you ever so much for reading my stories. What's even better is that these two are just more like prologues. The Epilogues are the main event (sort of. In truth, the Epilogues are a kind of prologue to another story, but that's all besides the point). Well, I hope you love the rest. Man, september's been a great month for me, lots of reviews, getting back in the saddle for Part II of epilogues, and even a few nominations in the quicksilver quills thingy. Rock on.

I can hardly see the keyboard through the tears! Such a beautiful, sad, and happy story. Wonderful writing!!!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. Truth be told this is my least favorite of the stories I've written and still it is able to obtain such an awesome response from you, thank you. I really hope you'll read the rest of my stories as I think they're all better than this one, and even better are all in the same storyline, thank you so much.

Chapter: Chapter 5: Fireside and Moonlight

Firstly, let me say wow!! I am amazed at the quality of all the stories in mnff, and also this is my first review,so cut me some slack! I think that the last chapter was the most satisfying to read,as you conveyed the emotions in the last few paragraphs between Harry and Ginny so well i am shocked, and extremely jelous as i could never write like that if Jo Rowling was sat beside me telling me what to write!
I wanted to include a critisism in all of my adoration for you writer types, but I dont think I could find one in this paricular story,so that will have to be my only problem, its TOO good.I also feel that if you were to develope your iwn characters in another story then you would be a VERY successful author.I'm going to stop it there or I will find myself rambling and not go to bed tonight.WELL DONE i think you have done Harry proud!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Admittedly, this is my least favorite story I've written, but I'm still fond of it. It definitely gave me a chance to take the characters to another level. So one thing I can say is that if you enjoyed this, i would really encourage you to read the rest of my stories. As for your one criticism.. Um, thanks for that? Definitely not the harshest criticism I've ever had.
