I keep returning to this one-shot, to re-read it. Perfect length, not too ooc in any way, good dialogue and nice ending. A good ending is always somewhat open to interpretation...

You make the romance work as well, I never could believe Draco as a chocolate and flowers sort of type, it had to be a little more complicated than that.

All in all, such a great job. I think I read this the first time when I was about 15 or 16, I'm 21 now, and it's as alive as ever to me.

I read this and a few others in the series ages ago when I first found this site. All your oneshots are good, but for some reason this is my favorite. I think it's one of the stories that made me fall in love with DHr. You have Hermione and Draco just right here, in my opinion. Love their banter, and the way they keep altering the story when they’re telling it to each other. Fun reading about the “I Never” game too. This is going on my favorites list. Thank you for writing.

Author's Response: I'm flattered that you like my one shots, and I'm glad you've found a favourite among them. This isn't the deepest Hermione/Draco story I've written, but I still like it, so I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed it too. Thank you for the kind review, Gwinna.

“Devilish, yes. Handsome? Hell, no--”
“Even you can’t deny that,” Malfoy interrupted her.
“Merlin, you are self-centred,” Hermione observed, astonished.

Muhaha, this bit of dialogue made me laugh. I adore your conceited version of Draco. XD

What was also very clever of you was how Draco and Hermione kept altering the story to how they preferred to think of it--it made for lots of comedy and retellings (read: interaction, hehe).

The OOC-ness was all lovable and not annoying at all, and Ron's "murderous" expression was realistic.

she had done that fateful night, now afraid that this would be their last chance.

Cue the smirk at this sentence. :)

I did recognize Draco's reaction of "don't like it much" when told to go to hell as it was used in Two Lattes.

I do have some questions...is Butterbeer really alcohol? It has an effect on house-elves, but on people it doesn't seem to be considered alcohol, otherwise Hermione would disapprove (hence the lovable OOC-ness). Also, what year does this take place in while they're in Hogwarts?

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked my conceited Draco. I'm pleased with the outcome of the part of the story where Draco and Hermione keep interrupting each other's stories - I did spend some time thinking about what was the best way to do it - so I'm glad you liked it too. Oh, yeah, I guess the hell comments in the two stories are quite similar. Sometimes when you think of something to write you don't realise that the reason you thought about it is because you've actually used it before. Luckily this is the only time - I hope - that this has happened in my stories. No, I don't think Buterbeer has an effect on people either. I think what went through my head when I wrote this was to add something about them drinking something else as well or mixing it with something, yet it seems to have slipped out - of my mind and therefore the story... It takes place in their seventh year, as I say in one of the first sentences of the story. Thanks for another nice review!

Ooooooooooh... if the Trio had to play a game like that I would completly want it to be just like that! I liked how you kept it In Character but not so much of the swearing. I wouldn't mind a sequal but this ending is perfect too! I love the countdown, then the kiss... so romantic!

Author's Response: Thank you, Blackfairy, I'm happy to hear you liked it!

(Written for the Recommend Your Favorite (Non-Canon) Fiction)

New Year is such a fantastic story that I always read it again and again. It tells about one fateful New Years, where Hermione and her friends are in the Three Broomsticks, playing a game of 'I Never'. When it is revealed Hermione has done 'it' with someone, everyone is curious, though she refuses to tell anyone who with. She eventually leaves the bar, a little before midnight, and comes face to face with the object of her thoughts and her friends' curiosities: Draco Malfoy.

Now, this is where my most favorite part of the fic comes in. Besides the fact that there is a mysteriously unexplained friendship going on between the two of them towards the beginning, that is. It left me curious as to what could have happened between the two, what allowed them to act like that towards each other. Hermione's slight drunkness also added to the (somewhat sarcastic) hilarity of the situation. But what I love the most is how each gives a recollection of the fateful night, and make up something hilarious that turns the plot, only to be interrupted by the other. It is very cute and so well written, it makes you laugh out loud and smile. Funnily enough, I feel that the rest of this fic has a dark twinge to it, a shadowy edge of unsaid feelings and wantings and anger (anger mainly being from Draco, I suppose).

This story, as all stories by Eilime, is so fantastically well written and really keen to details. I felt as if I was there the entire time, I got so caught up in the moment they shared, only to be pulled back to reality when an interruption occurred, or, of course, the ending. Though, one thing that slightly irked me was that the ending was very open. I would love to beg the author for a one-shot, but somehow I feel that this fic is so great as is, that a sequel could be dangerous.

It isn't very long, though it is long enough to give you a fulfilling and great read of a Dramione fiction.

Author's Response: Oh, my... I'm truly flattered by this. Don't really know what to say other than thank you ever so much. The ending, however, which is indeed open, is not open for the sake of a future sequel (there will definitely be none), but for the reader's right to imagine what's to come, how the story is going to go on from here, what's going to happen between these two people. Basically, it's up to everyone's imagination. Thanks again, Sarakime.

This story is really good. but you should make more chapters..... it doesn't seem quite done to me.

Author's Response: Thank you, Kacey. To me, it is finished though, and I won't add any chapters. Thanks for the review.

this was brilliant. i love that without them being out of character or ripping each other to pieces we found out about their troubled relationship (or one-night-stand + an extra kiss). i loved the game of i never. i have always wanted to play that to be honest. oh i did love this story. definite favourite. i sort of wish it hadn't been the end.

Author's Response: Thank you very much for that sweet review, MISSoke. I really appreciate it.

I tend to judge a story as good if I reach the end, and wish there was more! I wanted this story to have more chapters!

Awww! I loved it!! For a while I've been writing D/G & have just been focusing on that ship, but I had forgotten how much I love Dramione :D
I loved all the flashbacks - they made me laugh out loud. I don't really know what else to say. This was so warm & fuzzy, lol :]

Author's Response: Happy to hear it! Well then it's good you came back and read some Hr/D stories :) Pleased to hear you liked the flashbacks. You've said enough - you've made a smile appear on my face, so thanks!

hunh? sorry i didnt quite understand this one, maybe it was 'cause i was eating while i read it but the entire story telling (where d and h told the "same" story from different points of view and were arguing about the authenticity of the occurence) thing was really funny... of sorts anyways ciao~s

Author's Response: I would love to help you understand it, but you didn't say exactly what it was you didn't understand, so there's not much I can say. I'm glad you liked the whole flashback sequence though. Thanks!
