I liked this.... Im a huge Hermione/Snape fan... The only problem I had was that Snape kept referring to harry as, well, Harry. Other than that, very well written. ^_^

This is a great fic! It show the light and dark sdes of Severus, and his isolation and pain. I felt so sorry for him - he hates himself. And nobody should ever feel that way. Nice writing!

Great one shot, although I think it would make a great longer story as well.

What a great story! I loved the balance in Severus and Hermione's dialogue, how he explained the situation just enough to make sense. I mean, I like that he didn't just pour his heart out to her, because he is still a very guarded individual, but I liked that he was open enough to talk to her about things. Especially after Harry calling him a coward in HBP, I think that Severus would really want someone to understand his predicament.

But more than anything, I love your writing voice! This line was one of my favorites: "And there it was -- the truth! Hermione laid it out in front of him like a bloody corpse at a murder scene." Your style is so simple and honest, very easy to read! Great, great job! :D

Wow, this was... intense. It was a real rollercoaster of emotions, something that is very rare in the presence of a character like Snape.
Overall, I thought it was a really good story. If anyone is bound to trust Snape, it's Hermione. After all, she's spent six years trying to defend him in front of Harry and Ron and she'll be more receptive to his side of the story than anyone (except maybe for Remus).

I really liked the way you characterised Hermione. It was like she was walking a thin line between respecting and fearing Snape as a professor like she did before, and trying to stand up against him. That clearly shows when she is brave enough to kiss him, but then blushes over calling him Severus.
Snape was also well written, although I think he gave in to her somewhat soon. Maybe it would have been better to save the kiss? I'm not sure. I can understand why you did it, the man is desperate for touch and recognition, but still, I'm not sure if he'd let his guard down that far. That doesn't mean, however, that I wasn't rooting for them anyway hehe.

I do have one small nitpick: in the beginning, just before Hermione confronts Severus with murdering Dumbledore, he calls both her and Harry by their first name. I think it would be more canon for him to call them by their surname, as he does in the books.

I will read more of your Snape soon, and for now, this is definitely going into my favourites!

Author's Response: Thank you! It's ages since I had such a thoughtful review so you certainly made me smile :-) I agree with you about the first names issue; it's something I probably didn't think about at the time. I am really pleased you enjoyed it, though. Laura x

Nice plot and idea...two beings that really have many things in common. Not very different from each other. Well, done.

well, i am still trying to get used to the snape/herrmione ships so for that, i think it is good, but i didn't get the reasons for hermione liking snape, i thought it was only because he had kissed her. anyways, i like it.
