Strange, very strange, but I like it! I'd never really considered a Harry/Luna pairing. I always figured she'd end up with Neville. Very interesting, though. This shows a very brave Luna. I like it! :D
Author's Response: The last film implied Luna/Neville, didn't it? I think they would've been a nice couple, but even if all they did was share a kiss like Harry and Luna, I'm sure both would say it was worth it. :)
I know it's been a while since you wrote this one, but I was wandering around and I found this piece. To be honest I’ve always love reading your stories – mind you I’m not as a frequent reader as I was some time ago… still. For what is worth you are a terrific writer who happens to hook up the reader with such easiness, it’s hardly found in anyone else!!
Thank you for wandering around and finding this story! I've been gearing up to do what I didn't last year (limit HP writing to short stories and finish my original fiction/fantasy novel), and I'm going to print your review to help keep me motivated. :)
I hope you're having a wonderful holiday, and thanks again for finding the story. Your review was worth--and means--a lot.
This story reminded me of when I first started reading the Harry Potter books. I always had the impression that Harry was rather clueless about so many things; that he seemed to just be along for life's ride; that he took life as it came and did nothing to shape his fate. This story brought back those thoughts. I chuckled at the "unholy sight" of Snape smiling. And again, when Harry realized that Luna wanted (wait for it)--him?? Harry and Cho were worlds apart in what they expected from the date. I feel so sad for Cho--she needs to let Cedric go. After all, it was Harry who was with Cedric when he died and he's not brooding over it overly much. I didn't even think Cho loved Cedric that much--I think she was just in love with the idea. Wonderful story.
I think of Cho when I hear Garbage sing:
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains
You know I love it when the news is bad
Why it feels so good to feel so sad
I'm only happy when it rains
Pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me
I thought that way about Harry, too, that he was along for the ride,
until he figured out he had to be proactive, not reactive!
(As he did in the dungeon with Luna, heh)
I'm a closet Harry/Luna fan and I absolutely adore this story! Some of Harry and Luna's scenes in the books together are so close to being romantic and it;s so good to see something finally happen there, but without all the length of having to go completly non-canon (means I can read it repeatedly and often!) Thank you for such an enjoyable read :)
Author's Response: I'm with you about their scenes, and it was really upsetting to read about Harry squirming in embarrassment and pity at the beginning of HBP, just six weeks after Luna was the only one who understood about Sirius and made him feel better. Boys! :D
Arrrrg!! This is awesome! I always think that Harry and Luna make up a perfect couple. Although I'm not sure if Luna Lovegood is capable of luring a boy down to a dark private place to passionately kiss him and recieve a return. Well, Luna IS mysterious! Nice job! (The other thing I like about this story, is the appearance of SNAPE!!)
If Luna can create a lion hat and wear it in public, she can lure a boy down to a dungeon. :D She has hidden depths, absolutely!
I heart Snape, so any story with him making a cameo has a snarky sparkle for me, lol.
Thank you for reading this!
I've never thought about Harry / Luna before this, but now I'm definitely a bit more into it. I just wish that you had spent a little more time on Harry and Luna, rather than Harry and Cho. Otherwise, it was perfect :)
Author's Response: I felt I had to set up how awful it was with Cho for Luna to shine by comparison. :D Also, the moment in the dungeon is something that happened in a short space of time, so it couldn't be drawn out, but thank you for wanting more Harry/Luna. I'm afraid HBP made me think Harry's not right for her, sadly, but they'll always have that kiss!
Well, she overcame her fear of something. The dark, maybe, but only when she's making out XD I don't find it as hard as I should that Luna's got a little Slytherin cunning in her, or that Harry kissed her. It was believable and very sweet.
Author's Response: Every girl has a bit of Slytherin in her when it comes to making the most of the opportunity to be with a special boy. ;) Thank you!
Every time I read this story, it becomes more and more wonderful. I love the romance between Harry and Luna, Harry's reluctance at first, how he succumbs to Luna after a few minutes, and, in the beginning, Cho's annoyance with Harry. I also love how you described Harry and Cho's first kiss as soggy and such... It's hilarious!
Author's Response: Thank you for the fabulous Christmas present of rereading the story! As much as I love the Weasleys, I think Harry and Luna would have been such a great match!
I love this story. My heart was racing when Snape came into the room and barged in on Harry and Luna. It was amazing, though!!
Author's Response: My heart raced at the sight of a review, so although it's not quite what the Dove chocolate makers had in mind when the put the message 'when two hearts race, both win' in a chocolate wrapper, it's still a good thing! :)
Aww I love Luna! Shes so sweet and funny!
"the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be love in return" :)
Isn't love swell?
Oh I do love your writing!
It's... *looks in thesaurus* phenomenal (now thats a good word ;])
Author's Response: That's a splendiferous word! :D
Oh my God! Luna is my third favorite character, right after the Weasley twins. And this story is so her! I love it!
Author's Response: Hey, thank you for reading this! I get a little melancholy, thinking of how Luna would have brought childlike joy and imagination back into Harry's life, but oh well, I'm glad Jo at least gave her a husband who loves Snorkacks!
Not as convincing as other stories but ok!
Author's Response: Not convincing after HBP had Harry squriming in embarrassment over Luna, maybe, but at the end of OotP, it seemed like the pairing was very possible!
Ha! How cute! I pictured those scenes with Danny and Evanna. . . It was perfect! And believable, unlike most stories like that. . . I could go on and on with the compliments! Oh, I love your stories! I'm hooked on For bitter or for worse right now. Please keep writing! Thanks!
Author's Response: Thank you for reading my stories! I'll always be slightly wistful about how good Luna would have been for Harry, but in HBP I had to admit he wasn't the boy for her...sigh...
Awwww, that was really cute! Nothing like a good, fluffy romance to spice up what happened in canon! You did a great job with this! I think I'm going to go find another Character/Luna fic now! Thanks!
Author's Response: I have Luna paired with Wesley Roberts, (inspired by Westley, the farmboy who becomes the dashing Dread Pirate Roberts in the Princess Bride) in A Tale of Two Matchmakers if you don't mind D/G and have time to read a 50 chapter epic! :D
i realy liked that it wood be cool to ad more to this story were they get to gether.
Author's Response: After HBP, I don't know if I think Harry deserves Luna anymore, but thank you for wanting to read more! :)
This story is positively delicious! I adore the tricksy little Lovegood!
Author's Response: Thank you! I think Luna uses her eccentricity to her advantage, like a proper, clever Ravenclaw. ;)
Author's Response: X2! :D
Author's Response: Merci!
Oh, I really liked this piece. I'm a huge Harry/Luna shipper, and when I saw that you had written one, I was so happy. Your style and characterization are really nice, and it's so refreshing to read something with so much description. Well done. I love it.
Author's Response: Thank you, and I admire you for not jumping ship after book 6. I'd like to believe the HBP text influenced Harry to go for Ginny, but I think it was just coincidence, sigh.
