Chapter: Till Next Year

What a sickeningly sweet chapter, I loved the end though, Harry will most certainly annoy his narrowminded relatives now. I'd love to hear about West's second year, just so long as Hermione is petrified before Mrs Norris and I don't have to see her all love stuck again. Don't get me wrong, West is a great character and you've really fitted him in well at Hogwarts, I mean he even got on Snape's good side for Merlin's sake, but he and Hermione were so irritating, I just wanted to throw a bucket of water over them. Eleven year olds, ...

Author's Response: My stars! You're the most flattering reviewer I ever had for a story, and the crowd at Snitchseeker.com can lay it on pretty thick. I'm embarrassed to notice how long it's been and I still don't have year two ready. I have the beginning and the end. The parts are falling into place like a chromosome copying itself. Err, if the heavy romance between West and Hermione bothers you that much you may wish to skip and wait for year three.

I don't believe in using a device that doesnt belong in a particular story even if it does drive the plot, so let me try to explain that. While most eleven year olds aren't likely to feel quite so deeply, remember that West is a Texan and his glands are growing up along with his skeleton. What's kept him out of trouble is the careful incalculation from his parents, youth groups, et. in honor, chivalry and other outmoded (in other locations at least) mind patterns. This explains his exaggerated manners toward Hermione and Snape. Being non-Texan, she may not feel this way about most boys but she's being influence by his personality. He's a picture of the more complete, adult fellow she'd eventually be attracted to. Also she, being raised in middle class England, finds him rather exotic.

As for Diversity Training, well West is an American and has grown up around such tools and methods by which his culture changes and perpetuates itself. I like to think Morningstar was not so offended by Bones's choice of words as her emotional response.

I don't think that all British wizards are xenophobes, (all the others seem to get along with West, the twins seem fascinated by him) but a few of them help stir up conflict to keep the pot boiling.rnrn

I loved this chapter, it was brilliant. I particularly enjoyed Snape's return and his snarky personality. Dumbledore was quite funny to, Hey wait a minute, this is My office I don't have to leave. Very nice method of forcing out Voldemort too, blood magic is as old as the hills so why not a similar phenomenon for the Native Americans.

Chapter: Return to the Past.

Wow, that was cool but scarey, letting Quirrel probe your mind. Ironic that Snape's spell prevented them getting to the route of his death. I loved the discussion in astronomy, and what West said was quite romantic, but more suited to a seventh year i think.

Chapter: Dumbledore's Plan is Revealed

I really think my favourite line this chapter was. From time to time Dumbledore glanced to either side and silently congratulated himself for the seating arrangement. It just sums up Dumbledore, a puppet master. I adore Dumbledore, and his for the greater good ideology may be admirable in theory, but when put into practice, it's cold, calculating and is a little like playing God, or whichever Deity(s) one chooses to believe in. Morningstar is an excellent character, very well written and knows his stuff, he didn't seem phased at all by Dumbledore's pronouncement, which is good for West I guess.

Chapter: The Game is Afoot.

Razmataz Prizon, hmm. And why do the majority of the wizarding world consider Americans barbarians? Oh and for the record, I think this diversity training and PC rubbish is going a little too far. I mean people shouldn't be offended by labels, everyones perspective is different and so long as they aren't using a term in a derogatory way what is the problem? People should be proud of who and what they are, and if others are ignorant then why not dispell that ignorance rather than take offense to it? Sorry, I just don't see why everyone can't embrace each others differences and live peacefully, thats what I'd make happen if I were all powerful for a day. Anyway.... back to the story, I'm torn between laughing at Snape's demise from the perspective of first year canon and being so dreadfully sorry for him as he seemed to be showing quite a different side to himself before his untimely death. My guess is that Quirrel did it. Oh and I'm sorry but i find it a little disturbing that eleven year olds can fall so madly in love, it's icky.

Chapter: It's a Sin to Tell a Lie

I glory in the label of productive member of society, an excellent retort to Malfoy's self important ramblings. Loved the song.

Chapter: Everybody can use a little help.

It appears Snape has discovered someone to whom he can pass his knowledge of the subtle art of potion making. And the best line, the armadillo bile should be shaken not stirred, can you just picture James Bond saying that?

Chapter: First Day Jitters

I loved this chapter, I doubt I've ever or will ever again see Snape impressed, however unwillingly. It was nice to see someone show some proper respect for an authority figure for once, even if it was Snape, that sort of thing is rare these days. And you've continued to make me laugh out loud, the latest was when West told Percy he couldn't cut in, I'd love to have seen his face.

Chapter: Pardon me, but I think I love you.

Just thought I'd check in again and say I loved West's thinking They've robbed fort knox last chapter when he saw the gold. And saying of Malfoy, that fellow just brightens up a room, by leaving it had me laughing aloud again, I swear my family think I'm mental. Oh, and West? Nice.

Chapter: There is more in heaven and earth...

I was planning on reading the whole fic then reviewing, however, this first chapter was just so funny it made me review. The comic timing was perfect, and George's last statement hilarious. Thanks for the huge laugh you've just given me, they're so rare.

Chapter: Till Next Year

Heck yeah, Ah sho' do! Hahaha sorry, couldn't resist. And, I would love it if you did Harry's first year at Dragon Fang. It would be awfully unfair not to.

Author's Response: Oh man, I didn't think anybody was still reading this. I'm working on West's 2nd year but my attention keeps drifting to my modifications of HBP (which is suffering because when I work on that I think about West's stories). Thank you, thank you all. I'll try to get back to it.

Chapter: A Horrid Little Christmas

Hahaha ball lightning! That's so ironic, I'm actually doing an experiment with ball lightning. No joke. Hey, after you finish this, you should write an epilouge- and tell us which girl Ron gets, since it isn't going to be Hermione.

Yay! West is cleared, Quirrel (though dead) is no longer controlled by Voldemort, and Snape is alive. I'd love to see what Snape does to his sub.... *evil grin*

Yay! West was cleared! (does a little victory dance for West). Snape's still a grouchy git.

Chapter: Return to the Past.

That has to be a false memory that Quirrell put in earlier and activated just then.Or maybe Quirrell killed Snape as West accidentally cast that lightning spell (Killing Curse = Avada Kedavra). He has to get off the charges! Really awesome chapter. Oh, and happy birthday. :D

So THAT was what Dumbledore did. That was amazing; hardly any mistakes, very well put together, and fantastic.
