HAHAHAHA that was funny. I loved the modern major general one. I know the tune well because my dad will sing randomly.
I loved this! Your other story is amazing as well. Well, if rap was something I listened to, I'd definitely take you up on that. But frankly...rappers scare me. Oo Good job!
Great, now I have ;Modern Major General' stuck in my head.
But it was worth it!
I don't listen to rap and I can't write songs to save my life or I'd take you up on that dare.
I officially love this fic... I want a sequel! You find so many terribly written sorting songs in fanfics - a selection of well written ones is a rarity...
Brilliant. I got the melody of "Mack the Knife" stuck in my head though... I was wondering (I feel kind of stupid now) what is your translation of "Cogitamus ergo sumus". I couldn't find any good ones on the internet...
Very, very nice. I dunno about your sculptures, man, but you write very well and very diversely. The contrast between this and To sever the lining from a cloud is striking. An excellent read which must surely be one of the best humour fics here.
Wow :D You rhyme better than JKR, I think!
Author's Response: Ssh - she drops in at Mugglenet from time to time you know. Actually, the 'Philosopher's Stone' Sorting Song has really ingenious rhymes and wordplay, but I'm dead flattered!
If I listened to rap, I might be up for a shot at it, but I'm afraid it would take the sorting hat to make me stand it. That was immensely inspired insanity -- it does sound as if it came out of an immensely sarcastic schoolteacher's textbook. Very cool -- ended up reading the songs aloud and laughing through them. Is that nothing but praise? Of course it is! I have nothing to criticize -- very cute. Cheers!
I totally agree with Isis about the text book thing...Hey, I have an idea! Maybe YOU can write all of our blasted superbly-boring school books in the same mind set it took to create this wonderful piece of literature you have presented the mugglenet world with... nice job! :-)
Wow. That must have taken alot of time and the detail was incredible! I could have imagined it coming right from a textbook if it weren't for the subtle humor. Great job! Wonderful! Brilliant!
Author's Response: It certainly did take time...months, in fact, before I suddenly thought of how to do the Ravenclaw verse in the G and S version. Mac the Knife came together fairly painlessly once the idea of splitting the verses into wicked comparisons between the houses rather than 'one house per stanza' came up. I don't hink J K Rowling would approve, though. Dear me, no!
An inspired effort. Wonderful rhyme and attention to detail (like the hat's zipper gleaming in the candlelight). And I can just imagine the terrified firsties swarming out of the hall screaming as the Hat did its "Mac the Knife" song.
I just wanted to let you know that I'm the one who validated your story, and I absolutely loved it! That has got to be one of the best humor fics we've gotten! Nice job!
Author's Response: Thank-you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Anyone game to do Lee Jordon's 'rap' version?
