Once again, I love your writing style and the character you've created! Teriffic chapter - can't wait to see what's next!
Author's Response: Thanks, SeaIsleWitch! Always nice to hear from you...whether here or over there ;)
This is very interesting. Both Severus and Athene are questioning the other's feelings and intentions for them, which implies that they are beginning to...perhaps...love each other?
I loved the backstory of how Athene came to join AWB, and how she spent the years preceeding the Final Battle. It gives insight on her character, and explains a bit why she is how she is today.
Severus' interrogation later (favorite color, why she came to Hogwarts) was quite funny indeed. I like how you can keep a balance between plot, humor and romance. Great job!
And last but not least, congrats on getting 100+ reviews. =) You deserve it.
Author's Response: I am always pleased to hear that people appreciate the backstory. I admit to shamelessly borrowing the comic timing of the "What is your favorite color?" question from Monty Python & the Holy Grail, and from my own childhood nurse practitioner, who used to do the opposite, suddenly inserting a question like, "And are you using any illegal substances?" amidst innocent queries about my seatbelt usage, green vegetable consumption, etc. She was a wily woman. Thanks for your support, Croyez!
"Do you regret coming?" "No, not at all. Especially that last time on your desk!" - simply brilliant! you weave comic relief into really heavy background so easily! more info on the two coming up? please update soon!
Author's Response: Cheers! CH. 25 is in queue.
Thanks for giving us a little bit more on Athene. On nose rings - left = North India, right = South India (presently writing from Gujarat, India, where i live) Been to Kenya too, MUST VISIT! Watch out in Nairobi tho - lot of theives, almost had my watch stolen right off my wrist...
Author's Response: Cheers for the info! I will update my notes (my friends' families hail from around Delhi, so that explains that!) Out of curiosity, do you know the reason for the difference? I would love to know--thanks! I am so jealous of your fabulous travels...perhaps someday (sigh). Have a lovely weekend!
Possible the most down trodden chapter yet. But I still loved it, although something bordering on absolute annoyance. Poor old Athene, I find myself offering her sanctuary away from the greasy slimeball... Heheh I still love it...I've got a bad feeling abouthow I'm going to react to the end. You could just keep it going, to remedy that though... Well done again Grainne! You are most excellent!
Author's Response: Cheers Orlaith! Would love to know what caused the annoyance (Snape's behaviour? Athene's sad sap stories?)...such feedback is always useful. Athene appreciates your offer, but I think she is developing a penchant for grease;) !
...and Snape is obviously toast! I know I have said this before, but I REALLY like your character development. You have given us a great insight into what makes Snape tick, and Athene is a masterpiece. I like the fact that she is not too saintly for him, but has her own faults. As a result, I believe that you create far more sympathy, and therefore romance into the story. If you write a book be sure to let us all know so we can go any buy it! Kenya is wonderful, but don't know about the beer, I was under drinking age when I lived there.
Author's Response: THANK YOU so much--I find your feedback incredibly helpful, Buckbeak22. And your support in the whole writing endeavor is much appreciated. I am so jealous you've lived in Kenya! Another unscientific study--2 out of 3 reviewers for this chapter have been there, which means you lot are all more worldly than I!
I read this a few days ago but didn't have the time to leave a comment. All i can say is, Good for you Snape!
Author's Response: Snape will accept any and all encouragement...he has no clue about relationships. Thank you for taking the time to write this, RebeccaO (not that I count, but it was fun to see "100" in the review bar)!
i absolutely love your story! it's funny, intriguing and sexy. please write more!
Author's Response: Thank you.
Love the Chapter as always. but unfourtunatly im in a hurry or else i would give you another poem any who from the great schulz him self "Thinking of you gives me the HAPPIES!!!!!"
Author's Response: Cheers, Kira!
HOORRAAH! I am so pleased that's all cleaned up, and even more pleased that dear Severus is happy! Kingsley Shacklebolt...well I never! But I can totally see it! I'm still of the opinion that you could keep this going forever (I will be ever so Snape-ish when its over!) I feel like the end is near...please prove me wrong!
Author's Response: We are much nearer the end than the beginning, but there are a few more plot wrinkles to iron out, and Snape, well...is Snape. He is no longer in complete denial about his feelings for Athene, but he has a ways to go before I'll bugger off and trust him not to cock up the relationship! Thanks, Orlaith!
I am so glad the chapter finally got through the queue! I got quite irritable, waiting for it. I love your development of Snape's character, and Athene's, as the impossibly sharp edges start to mesh. It is the first story I have read that makes Snape seem believeable, even though, you, like Athene must have been wrestling with him for chapters to get him to soften naturally. And I like the way he is softer, but not mushy.
Author's Response: Thank you very much for this feedback, Buckbeak22! I've said it before, but that is one of my main goals--to write a fairly IC Snape into a believable relationship. [Your second sentence made me smile, by the way, as it seems like something Snape would say--wink!]
You've made me absolutely addicted to this story! I never really thought of Snape as a loving sort of person, but you've got me convinced! Please update soon, I'm dying to read the next chapter!
Author's Response: I don't think he is either...which is why it is taking so bloody long to get him into some semblance of a normal relationship! But I would like to think that he has the capability somewhere in there, or at least the need...next chapter is in queue. Thanks for your comments!
snape rocks!!!!your writing is so funny! please update soon!
Author's Response: Thanks--next chapter is in queue!
Lol! This chapter had me laughing so much...Snape was simply excellent in Dumbledore's office--his sarcasm was very funny, and his closing statement (about the Ministry not having enough funds to cover for their programs) was great. Really, this chapter just cracked me up. =D I needed that after a long, tiring day of school, and an afternoon of schoolwork.
Great job, keep it up!
Author's Response: Thank you; I am always happy to provide a few laughs. Best of luck with your schoolwork!
Can i just say -Thank You.? ( for brightening my day)
Author's Response: And I will say thank you for the same!
Roared with laughter. best chapter yet. love the moss. he he he he! Snape is great. Ekkkk! nother poem for snape this time. When We Two Parted When we two parted In silence and tears, Half broken-hearted To sever the years, Pale grew thy cheek and cold, Colder, thy kiss; Truly that hour foretold Sorrow to this. The dew of the morning Sunk, chill on my brow, It felt like the warning Of what I feel now. Thy vows are all broken, And light is thy fame; I hear thy name spoken, And share in its shame. They name thee before me, A knell to mine ear; A shudder comes o'er me... Why wert thou so dear? They know not I knew thee, Who knew thee too well.. Long, long shall I rue thee, Too deeply to tell. In secret we met In silence I grieve That thy heart could forget, Thy spirit deceive. If I should meet thee After long years, How should I greet thee? With silence and tears. lord byron hope athen never leaves him! keep on!!!
Author's Response: Thanks for the praise and the poetry, Kira! (It does seem written for Snape, the poor sod.)
That was fantastic! Garh! Geronimo! Blimey!ARGH! I roared my head off when Severus laughed, realising moments later, that I too, laughed extraodinarilly similar to our dear Poitons master -- well in rythm at least. Then:***He is keeping (almost) civil tongues in their heads, and it is thanks to him that I am getting this owl off to you. By the way, if you are where I think you are, would you mind popping down to that divine little Muggle shop in Bakewell and obtaining some of those delicious puddings? Cheers!*** Fan - bloody- tastic! And then the whole thing about knights really got me thinking. Having read that I have a whole new outlook on history and life as we know it. I, garh! cannot tell you how -- I can't speak proper standard English now -- words simply cannot express my love for Squidbait and Snape, may their advenyure continue forever!
Author's Response: Slainte, Orlaith! I am sure the denizens of (wherever you are) are cowering in terror as your laugh resounds from street to street (or glen to glen). The story of Squidbait and Snape cannot, of course, go on forever (or the readers would all get knackered and go home, and I would never get my bills paid) but there is still a bit more to come. Thank you for being such a staunch supporter!
Magnificent, and I would not ever doubt Professor Snape's moss - I am sure he has it covered in case the Ministry try to research it. I love your work - have you had anything published? And the tongue twister was marvelous. I swear I am falling in love with Snape myself! Only one thing - I don't think Bakewell Pudding and Bakewell Tart are the same thing are they? Mind you they are both delicious.
Author's Response: In my experience the tarts are the little knock-offs they sell in the supermarket that, while decent, hold no candle to the real thing. Is there another meaning/lovely treat I am missing out on? I had some poetry and non-fiction published in very minor venues when I was younger, but nothing recently (unless you count annual reports at work.) I do write original short stories and essays, which I am hoping to get out there, so your encouragement means a great deal!
You've given away quite a lot in these responses, dear -- perhaps you could add the rest of your story in there * wink wink* You completely have me guessing. I can't wait for more!
this story is brilliant! i know harry&co are off holidaying, but will they, lupin, the weasleys, or anyone else we know appear anytime? please update soon!
Author's Response: Kingsley Shacklebolt appears in the next couple of chapters; the Golden Trio (and possibly others) will appear toward the end of the story. Cheers for reading!
