After nearly two years of inactivity, Hogwarts is finally re-opened to the students of MNFF! This time around, I'll be the Headmistress, and I am excited to have all of you who choose to sign up. We have a GREAT lineup of classes that broach so many areas that, as a mod, I've seen that people crave in terms of direction and expectation. We have a couple returning professors, along with a batch of first-timers, but I believe it's one of the strongest groups Hogwarts has seen in ages. Our cast includes:
Equinox Chick/Carole
the opaleye/Julia
clabbert2101/Bella
hestiajones/Natalie
minnabird/Minna
ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor/Jess
babewithbrains/Soraya
the owl/Sophie
iMusic17/Ellie
Maple_and_PheonixFeather/Maple
Padfoot11333/Lily
This year, we have eight different subjects that are taught at one of two levels. The differences between the levels are: difficulty, the amount of out-of-class assigned work, and possible points to be earned. First years tends to be on the simple side, requiring little outside research, and generally run between 4 and 8 weeks (with the last week being the final exam assignment). These require weekly participation in the lessons posted by the professors, with a max of 10 points per week. Max points of 15 for the final exam.
OWL Levelis a bit more difficult and tends to require students to venture out of the classroom for information, with a strong likelihood of homework. Running between 6 and 8 weeks (with the final week being the exam), this is a more rigorous course and not for the casual student. The discussions should be very interactive, with multiple responses to lesson posts for a user and few/no spammy or irrelevant comments. Lessons have max points of 15, with top points for the finals set at 20.
We have the following courses, along with links to their respective sign-up threads:
Most of the courses have a posted cap on the number of sign-ups, but for the few which do not, please note that these caps are subject to change due to unexpected popularity of the subject or (we hope not) lack of interest due to too few sign-ups. Our professors can only donate so much of their time, so if you miss out on a course, please be patient and wait for next term to roll around.
IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT
All sign-ups are due MAY 31st! No exceptions, no latecomers, no asking. Why? Because classes have a HARD start date of June 1st. If you're not sure if you want to do the class, if there are a number of spots still available, you can sign up anyway to reserve a spot. However, if the class is close to its limit of available slots, please do not do this. If you decide at any time before sign-ups end that you'd rather not take the course, please PM me, Jess, and I will delete your sign-up post. If you decide against taking the class after sign-ups have already ended, please contact the professors in charge of the class directly.
We will have a waiting list of three per capped class, so if the class you want is filled, sign up anyway until the thread is locked. If someone happens to drop out before the class starts, the first on the waiting list will get the available slot. Also, if you are wait-listed, during the next term when classes are hosted and if that particular class is available again, you will be contacted BEFORE the public sign-ups start as to whether you'd like to take the class and will get first dibs.
With that, let the lessons begin!
