Hello! I'm fairly new to beta-ing at the moment, but English has always been my strongest subject and I've beta-ed a couple of stories and really enjoyed it, so now I've opened a thread!

So a little note to start this off: I’m the sort of beta who doesn’t only give grammar help. I leave lots of comments to try and make your story the best it can be, and I tend not to sugarcoat things. While I’m not harsh, I’m always honest. If there’s an aspect of the story you want me to pay particular attention to, say so.

All that aside, my strongest suits are SPaG, plot and characterization. As far as weaknesses go, while I’m a decent Brit-picker for somebody who’s not British, I’m … well … not British, so if you specifically need help Brit-picking I’m probably not your person.

I’ll accept any genre except for Poetry - AU is on a case-by-case basis, but I’ll generally take it. My strong suit genre-wise is definitely D/A, and I love Post-Hogwarts. I dislike Draco/Hermione and Draco/Ginny, so please don’t give those to me, but other than that I will accept any ship and can pretty much throw anything I ship myself out the window if it's necessary for the fic. I don’t beta Professors fics, ever, just so that’s clear, but as far as warnings go anything is fine as long as it’s handled well.

Like the majority of betas on here, Microsoft Word and track changes are my preferred ways to beta, but if you’d prefer something else that’s alright as well. My turnaround time is almost always under a week and generally within a few days, but if you have a specific turnaround time in mind then just say so and do whatever I can to get it to you by then.

Hi! My name is Ari, and I'm looking for a second beta for a story that I've been working on for a very long time (since after the fifth book came out) and am currently rewriting before I move on to finishing it. Since I started writing this fic so long ago, before the sixth book came out, I don't really think of it as AU, although I suppose it sort of is. As a beta myself, I'm pretty good these days at SPaG, but I'm always looking for ways to make things sound better, and I definitely make typos. Mostly, I need someone who's not afraid to tell me when something doesn't sound right or my characters are OOC or boring or make you cringe. I'm looking for anything that will make the story better. I have posted as far as Chapter Twelve on fanfiction.net and am wanting to fix through 12 before I start posting anything new. Usually, I'll try to send you the rewritten version, but I might be lost when it comes to a particular chapter, in which case I might ask for your suggestions on something specific that needs tweaking, just to get me going. And I really hope this won't be as much work as it sounds!

Permanent Y/N: Yes. I've asked Molly (OliveOil_Med), who beta'ed the first two chapters for me about two years ago, to work on it as well, but I'd like to have two sets of eyes looking over this. I'm not sure yet if she'll be able to work on this again.
Summary: Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville are back for their sixth year while Ginny and Luna return for their fifth. Something happened over the summer, something that brought them closer than they thought they could ever be. People who were thought to be dead keep showing up in their lives. And what is Harry's exact role in defeating Voldemort - and what do Fred and George have to do with it?
