For the parenting prompt does the minor character have to be a child or can they be interacting with their parent as an adult?

Eleanor Lupin-That girl definitely counts, and thanks for pointing goldensnidget's question out

goldensnidget-i'm not entirely sure what you mean. He's definitely a minor character, yes, but do you mean you'd write his story the way Ron would read it? In that case, then yes, I think it would count.

Sly Severus-They can definitely be an adult. A child or an adult--either is fine.

Alexxxx. You know for the 31st July prompt, does the whole story have to be set on that day, or can we have flashbacks etc set in the past and not necessarily on the 31st July?

Amazing banner by the fabulous Toni/TM_Wandstick and prettiful avvie by the wonderful Nadia/majestic_ginny.

The majority of the story and the entirety of the 'present' of the story has to be on July 31st, but yes, you can have flashbacks to other days not on that date.

Alex, I have a few questions and these are fairly silly, but I had to ask--

    1. In the Travel prompt, does the country/city have to be described in detail or can I just base the story in a particular city that he/she hasn't ever been in?

    2. In the Music prompt can the song be totally unrelated to the situation in the fic (like in songfics, the song and the plot are generally related)?

    3. And for the July 31st prompt, can I have one part of the fic occur in July 31st one year and the second part happen in... say five years or whatever? All events however, will occur on the 31st of July, but in different years, though the first part will be a flashback. Is this acceptable?

    Thank you!
    ~ Pooja

Pooja: 1) No, you don't have to describe it in detail, but the place mentioned does have to be a real place.

    2) It can be completely unrelated, as long as it's playing for the majority of the story.

    3) Yes, you can have different July 31st in your story--that idea definitely works.

... Godric's Hollow counts as real, right? I'm writing a travel fic where Grindelwald goes to Britain, but he's mostly going to be in Godric's Hollow with a possible side expedition to Diagon Alley.

Yes, it does. I meant to clarify--places like Ottery St Catchpole and Hogsmeade do count as 'real'.

Do our entries have to be of a serious nature or can they be humorous?

I was writing a serious look at Blaise and his mother, but it hasn't managed to solidify. One of the plot bunnies that I've had buried is a bit of a parody of the Mary Sue trope of "canon character turns beautiful because they've been under Glamours all along!" In this case, Blaise was under a glamour to appear as white, blonde and female. Except he's not. The story would still fall under the parents prompt since it would involve Mrs Zabini explaining why she kept her son under a glamour as a daughter... but would that work?

Either serious or humourous or any other tone or category you choose is fine, as long as the focus is on the characterisation of your chosen minor character.
