Long Next Generation or Historical Fic?

I'm new to fan fiction but I am loving it. I enjoy fictions which the original trio are not central. So really I am looking for a Next Generation, Historical or Marauder Fiction or along those lines. Even something like the Alexandra Quick series would be amazing since I love that at the moment

    Currently I have read:
    The Alexandra Quick Series
You Want to Make a memory?
    Our Little Secret

anyone else got any other reccomendations. I am looking for something long perferably.
    Thank you

Someone to Watch Over Me and I'll Pick You Up by MagEd are brilliant if you want something Marauder Era (although it's actually James/Lily).

Then if you want actual Marauder Era there's Lions of Gryffindor by Equinox Chick which is a fab one, in my opinion.

Next Generation recs would be When Worlds Collide by jenny b and The Vindication Of James Potter by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor.

I've started writing a chaptered James/Lily and it will end up to be around 70K words, possibly more, and it's called Checkmate under the username xxbabewithbrainsxx. However at the moment it's only 16K, but rest assured I've got 50K already written and I'm posting the chapters as soon as I can, so click on my signature to read it (if you want) and if you do and you like it, please leave a review. I hope I've helped and happy reading!

Hi Lucien. I'm glad you're enjoying my Alexandra Quick series. If you like AQ, you might want to check out Hogwarts Houses Divided, which is a long Next Generation story.

    [shameless self-promotion]

I'm currently working on a long historical fic about Anne Boleyn, and it's called Ascendio. You should check it out, if you're interested in that era. There are nine chapters up right now, I think, and many more to come!

    [/shameless self-promotion]

Also, for Next-Generation fics, I know that Jess (ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor) has written many great stories, both chaptered and one-shot, about the next gen kids. Just check out her profile on the archives and skim through it for some quality Next-Generation awesomeness.

Possibly the best fic on this site (in my humble opinion) is also a Next Gen fic.

It's called A Little More Time and the author is Pallas.

The Cause by P ussycat123 is another good read (Marauder and also pretty funny).

If you like Remus/Tonks (with a bit of Sirius), I have Apparently Asleep on the site which links in with Lions of Gryffindor (you may recognise some of the OC's like Martha).
And I'm also writing a Next Gen fic called High (update should be here soon)

An excellent Marauder writer is Gmariam, so check out her author page here.

hestiajones has a number of oneshots on the site that are not about the Trio. She specialises in minor characters and OC's. Check out her author page here

What all of my recommendations have in common is that they are all unfinished works, but I hope you find these fics enjoyable nevertheless.

I strongly recommend JCCollier's Marissa and the Wizards, set in Brazil. It has excellent characters and amazing world-building.

OliveOil_Med seems to specialise in stories set in foreign locations, and one of my favourites of hers is Hermione. Although there is a sojourn to Britain complete with contact with the Trio, the story is otherwise set entirely in Australia, and is non-Trio centric.

Another story I would recommend is The Phoenix Revolution by AidaLuthien. This interesting story is set in the Chinese wizarding and Muggle worlds, but it is still in the beginning stages.

Oh, Tim, no shameless self-promotion? Thanks for recommending my story though. I guess I have to work harder at getting Chapter 10 out within... say the month. The Phoenix Revolution isn't Historical though (it's set in 2003) and while I suppose it could be ostensibly Next-Gen I highly doubt any Next-Gen people will show up. It is, like Alexandra Quick and Marissa, a look at the wizarding world outside of Britain though.

    Which leads to my recommendation:

Für Das Größere Wohl by Tim the Enchanter is Historical (set during World War II) and is rather long (15 chapters and counting). It's quite funny, if somewhat dark and is rather good.

Right first of all an apology. I've came to realise just how much I have read and have not. Some I forgot about in the heat of the moment.

I have already read Hogwarts Houses Divided, it really got me interested in the whole AQ series. Its full of twists and turns and defineatly one of the best I have read.

Also I have read High by Equinox Chick, its interesting as well.

And Für Das Größere Wohl. Its defineatly the most creative I have read ever and it is very meticulous, it is one of its charms.

But thank you everyone, as soon as I get this round of exams over, I will read the lot of these on rainy days. Which there are always many
