Ginny and Neville wandered down the halls, working their way to the Carrow’s chambers where they were bound to be. Ginny was trying to quickly come up with a song in her head. Truth be told, she had never done anything like this before, she wasn’t even sure if she was a good singer. There was no way she was going to sing anything that she had heard at home, her mum’s music left something to be desired.

The two dwarves were walking along the corridor to the Carrow’s quarters when Snape turned the corner.

When the amusement of the situation had worn off, Ginny said, “It’s time to get to work. Neville, do you remember the words?”

“Not really,” he said sheepishly.

Unperturbed and frankly unsurprised, Ginny said, “‘Camena somnia’ is the incantation, but it has to be in a song to keep them from being even more suspicious than they already will be. I’ll just sing something, and I’ll wave my arm like this —” she flourished her wrist as gracefully as she could, “— and we’ll both say it. Got it?”

“Camena somnia,” Neville mumbled. “Got it.”

“Let’s go.”

Ginny’s heart began to pound. Snape knew occlumency! How were they going to get past him? She forced herself to keep walking at a nonchalant pace. Beside her, Neville sucked in a deep breath. She turned to look at him. He seemed to be concentrating fiercely. Ginny hoped he had a plan. With every passing moment, the distance between Snape and themselves grew shorter, and the expression on Snape’s face grew more ominous. Then Snape paused, staring down at the pair.

“What – ?” he began, sneering, but Neville interrupted, bursting into song.

“Will you be myyy – my valentiiiine?” he warbled.

Ginny might not think Celistina Warbeck's song are good enough, but since when do dwarves need to have good taste in music?

Barmaid parachuting in to bring assistance and cause it's fun.

In a previous drabble it had been established that Snape was not at Hogwarts.

"Neville, stop!" hissed Ginny, tugging on his arm.

Ignoring her, Neville carried on anxiously waiting for her to join in so they could send Snape to sleep.

“Neville,” she urged. “Snape isn’t here, remember?”

But Neville kept on singing.

Then the sneering face of Severus Snape broke into a grin.

"Nev, it's me! I’ve taken Polyjuice Potion. I thought you could do with some help."

Neville looked closely. The figure in front of him certainly looked like the headmaster, but there was something about the smile that reminded him of ...

“Terry, is that you?” Ginny asked, trying to tell by the newcomer’s posture.

“How’d you know?” said Terry, his Snape-sounding voice nearly as unnerving as the original.

Neville perused Terry as well. “Yeah, I see it, too.” He picked up a lock of hair and tried to put it in Terry’s line of sight. “Clean hair.”

“Damn,” Terry mumbled before shrugging. “Not like any of their lot will notice — especially Amycus. That one’s dead stupid.”

Ginny looked at Terry accusingly. “Where did you get the sample?”

Blushing, Terry said, “Well, um, Snape sort of... sits when he pees, and...”

Word count is 99. And yes, I did gross myself out.

Right outside the door of the teachers' lounge, Terry stood at his tallest and his Snape-liest and strode inside whilst Ginny and Neville hid in the hall. Inside, several teachers looked at him strangely.

"Headmaster, I thought ye were out until tomorrow night," Alecto Carrow dared to say.

"My business was completed ahead of schedule. I saw no need to remain away longer than necessary." Terry had to try hard not to bash the Carrows' skulls together and reveal himself. Instead, he said, "If you two could come with me. We have some important matters to discuss."

The Carrows followed Terry-Snape outside the door, looking bemused. Neville and Ginny looked at them, wondering what Terry was going to say.

“Why can’t we just put them to sleep now?” Neville whispered, taking out his wand. Ginny stopped him.

“No!” she hissed. “wait!”

“I noticed something very... unusual in the school today, Amycus,” Terry was saying in a perfect mimicry of Snape’s tone. “Singing dwarves traipsing down corridors.” He sneered. “How did they get in with you two in charge?”

“Eh?” Amycus said, cocking his head. “Singin’ Dwarves?”

Right on cue, two very chubby dwarves appeared around the corner.

“Please, please, do not finish that sentence,” Neville said, shuddering.

“Yes, please don’t,” Ginny agreed, looking as though she might be sick.

“Well, you asked,” Terry replied. “For the record, I think you sound much better than that old bag, Warbeck.”

Neville blushed. “Don’t let my Gran ever hear you say that. She’s one of her biggest fans. Hogwarts is the only place I can escape her screeching. One of these days-”

“Hey!” Ginny broke in, “My mum drives us crazy with her too, but we have more important things to do right now.”

“Right, let’s get on with it.”

Ginny and Neville started, grossly out of harmony, but strangely in sync.

"Won't you be my valentine?
Alecto, Amycus, please be mine.
It's the fourteenth, my lovers... a,
Camena somnia!"

At the utterance of the incantation, both their eyes rolled back into their heads and fell to the floor in a heap. Terry smirked, and Neville squeaked in his dwarf voice, "Cool."

Rolling her eyes, Ginny motioned for Terry to help her. "Let's get them out of the way. We have work to do." They quickly complied and moved the prone Carrows into a broom closet down the hall.
