School Protection For Muggles
Do you think school within any given nation would be aware enough of Muggle conflict taking place, and offer any protection for Muggle-borns or children from Muggle families? After all, these children are supposed to make up about a tenth of the school's population at any given time.
Conflicts I'm talking about would be events such as the Holocaust/Nazi Occupations, Chinese Cultural Revolution, reigns of Pol Pot and Idi Amin, and probably a lot of others I can't think of right now.
What do you think it would take for the school to intervine?

Muggle-born wizards and witches are already at school or usually somewhere within the wizarding world, so they should be safe.

You might see some philanthropic fellows doing all they could to help, but I doubt humanitarian intervention would be official policy of any magical governments or schools.
Tim the Enchanter
I have to echo Tim on this one.
Whatever nice morals Rowling may have tried to teach about blood equality, at the end of the day, it's generally the pure bloods who control more of the companies, more of the government and that's just how it is.
Even Muggle-borns get integrated into the wizarding world and generally don't try to straddle living between wizarding and Muggle worlds.
Given this control, and given how most pure bloods feel towards Muggles (scorn or curiosity but generally no empathy), it's highly unlikely that they would make any moves to protect Muggles.
Hell, a large Muggle conflict just reflects their own superiority. "Stupid Muggles can't even take care of themselves."
So, no. I don't think the schools would be aware, not unless they were really, particularly progressive. I don't think they would try to do anything either, it's well beyond the scope of what they can do.
Besides, the wizarding world is shielded enough from the Muggle world that unless the Muggle borns brought it up persistently, I doubt that the school administrators would even know anything was wrong.
As for a longer conflict like World War II, the school might try to give the student's family amnesty in the wizarding world, but only if the student refused to go to school because of the conditions. Even then, I could see some particularly callous administrators deciding that the fate of a Muggle-born wouldn't matter.
