    Secret SPEW V!

    Secret SPEW V!

In Jenna's absence, I'll be organising the exchange this year. Hopefully I don't go too insane.

Sign-ups run from now until November 24, 11:59(PST), and assignments will be sent out within a day or two.

Stories are due December 23rd, and will be posted beginning December 24th.

    Sign-Up Guidelines / Rules:
    • Post your request in this thread by Tuesday, November 24th (11:59PM PST).
    • Also include limits for what you're unwilling to write. Any ratings, characters, pairings, warnings or genres. Please try to be flexible with your limits/requests.
    • Requests should not contain anything inappropriate for MNFF.
    • Do not request a fic if you are not absolutely sure you will be able to take the time to write one for someone else. If you have to pull out due to unforseen circumstances, then please notify me as soon as possible so that I can arrange for another story to be written.
    • I will send out assignments on Thursday, November 26th.
    • This is a SECRET swap. Don't let anyone know who you're writing for. If you do, I will set my evil flying monkeys on you. If, of course, you use a SPEWer as your beta then they might figure it out, but if they let slip the flying monkeys rule still applies.
    • Use this format for your request post:

Limitations: (On what you can write)
If possible, include a couple of characters, pairings and prompts that you would like to see written. Please, nothing too complicated or specific; writers need room to work.
    • Please try to make all stories wintry or holiday-ish in some way. It doesn't have to be overwhelming, even just the setting. Remember to keep in mind who you're writing for. When requesting, feel free to mention a winter or holiday theme you'd like, or alternatively anything you don't want.

    Submission Guidelines / Rules:
    • The story must be beta'd. There are no exceptions. Don't PM to ask if it's really mandatory, I'll say that it is.
    • All stories should be rated appropriately for the person recieving it [meaning their taste, not their age.] If you're writing for someone who does not generally venture into 6th-7th Years / Professors, then do not write that kind of fic. Also, this pertains to content and warnings, as well.
    • If you wish to include smut and you know the person you're writing for will enjoy reading it, then you may write it.
    • When submitting your story, please include this header:
      <b>Warnings (if any):</b>
    • If desired, please also include a note from you to your recipient.
    • Stories should include all HTML tags [<i>italics</i>, <b>bold</b>, etc;]
    • Stories should be PM'd or emailed to me [Jennifer / jenny b] by the due-date.
    • If your story contains any words that may be editted by the forum censor, you must email it to me, or else make a very obvious note to me at the top of your PM, so that I can edit before posting.
    • If you email it to me, please send it as an attachment. Do not put the text in the body of the e-mail. (If you need my e-mail address, either PM me or use your stalking abilities to find it on my profile/LJ/somewhere.)

Stories must be submitted by December 23rd.

They will be posted starting December 24th.

This thread is for requests only; if you have a question, PM or IM me.

    Oh, I'm so in love with SPEW swaps! &hearts;

Character/Pairing(s): Marauders, Dominique Weasley/someone or OC or whatnot, George/Katie Bell, Harry/Ginny, Sirius/Emmeline Vance
Prompt(s): I would love to read a fic that was Lily/James with an emphasis on the platonic friendship that Lily would've have to have formed with Sirius (since he ultimately becomes godfather - and maybe this is even a friendship that is developed fully after he becomes godfather). If you go that direction, don't feel any necessity to go with a holiday theme. For any of the others, holiday themes are welcomed. Consider this song, if you're wanting some inspiration: Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. Tones of unrequited love or absent lovers with love being resolved and happy endings are some of my favorites.

Limitations: I don't do Snape. I won't write Rose/Scorpius because I've written a story recently about Lily/Scorpius, and so I'm much too fond of the latter to break them up in my head for the former. I include humor in my stories, but I don't write straight humor.

I've never done a swap, so here goes.

    Character/Pairing(s): Next-gen, Lily/Scorpius, Rose/Scorpius, Teddy/Victoire, Andromeda/Ted, Marauders, Marauder pairings, Regulus Black.

    1. a photograph: click
    2. a lyric: 'It got so cold out words just froze. We had to wait till summer to find out what was said.' - Motion City Soundtrack
    3. a quote: 'If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.' - Orson Welles
[in other words: happy endings aren't necessary, but something very wintery/Christmasy would be joy]

Limitations: I won't enjoy writing trio-era, historical, well-examined characters such as Dumbledore and Snape, or the Humour genre. I would love to challenge myself and write a Marauder era, but I am best at (I think) next generation characters.

Character/Pairing(s): Any next-gen would be wonderful. Preferably one away from the norm, which means I'd like something other than Rose/Scorpius, Lily/Scorpius, etc. There's plenty out there to choose from, and I wouldn't mind an OC thrown in if there isn't enough next-gen characters for you to make a pairing from.

Prompt(s): Something romantic, but not neccessarily fluffy. Teenagers in love. Fast-paced and full of action, but with room for more romantic moments. Rather than the traditional winter/snow/warm fire Christmas, give me something I can relate to. That doesn't have to mean a scorching hot Aussie Christmas (since the HP characters are usually in England ), but just something vibrant and different. Still Christmassy themed, but not wintry. Yes?

Limitations: I'm open to pretty much anything. And I don't really need to write this, since I'll be doing the assignments. >.>

Character/Pairing(s): Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Viktor Krum, Remus Lupin, Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Black/Malfoy. I would adore you if you could write me a Viktor Krum/Hermione Granger something. Any of the above characters can be paired off with another (even if they aren't listed here) to suit whatever you wish to write.

Prompt(s): I know that this isn't wintry or holiday-ish, but if you are inspired by R.E.M.'s Losing My Religion, that would be brilliant (the song is easily found on youtube, if you've never heard it). Also, I wouldn't mind something inspired by this line, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." Either of those would be great.

If, though, my author feels slightly inspired to do somethingy wintry and would like more of a nudge in that direction, then here is a lovely quote that comes to mind:

“Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.” - van Goethe

Anything inspired by that quote would be lovely also.

As you can see, I really don't want fluff. Please. If there is romance (please do include it if you like ) I would really rather have it be something more serious that provokes a lot of contemplation on the part of the reader. Or, simply put, I don't just want endlessly happy things. Happy endings are brilliant, but I'd like another emotion thrown into the mix.

That was fairly I'll apologize to my author right now.

Limitations: (On what you can write): Please no Trio and no humor. Just about everything else is good.

Character/Pairing(s): Remus/Tonks, Sirius/Lily, Regulus/Lily, Teddy/Victoire, James/Lily -- these are in no particular order. Any story with any one of these pairings would be great.

Prompt(s): Song inspirations: The Chain by Ingrid Michaelson or The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by The Postal Service.

    Quote inspirations:
"For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation." (Rainer Maria Rilke)

"Let me not to the marriage of true minds / Admit impediments: love is not love / Which alters when it alteration finds." (Shakespeare)

I'm not really looking for any specific kind of love story (unrequited, fluffy, etc.), but I do think I want some sort of love story for this swap. Some pairings lend themselves better to certain types of stories, so whatever my author feels inspired to write, I'm sure it'll be brilliant. Basically I'm open to pretty much anything involving any of the above pairings.

Limitations: I'm not so great at the Trio era, so any characters and/or pairings in that time period probably should not be assigned to me. Otherwise I'm pretty game for whatever. Marauder Era (excluding Snape, please -- Snape is really not my guy) and Next-Gen are both settings/characters I'm open to.

Character/Pairing(s): I'd love a Teddy/Victoire, Lily/Scorpius, or Bill/Fleur, but I wouldn't object to anything with Draco Malfory, either. Anything with Victoire, the Black sisters or Malfoys, and minor characters are love. Slash pairings are good, too, if they tickle your fancy.
Prompt(s): I won't object to a nice wintry tale or a holiday story, but I would love a story that's not centered on the holidays as well. I just don't really want a story full of fluff; it also doesn't have to have a plot, I'm fine with character driven stories.

“You may not love me today, tomorrow, or ever, but I will love you until it kills me, and, even then, you'll be in my heart.”

"Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets." -Arthur Miller

"In life we all have an unspeakable secret, an irreversible regret, an unreachable dream and an unforgettable love." -Diego Marchi

"The tragedy of life is not that man loses, but that he almost wins." -Heywood Broun

Some song inspirations (Easily found on youtube):
    • I Don't Believe You by Pink.
    • Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls.
    • Innocence by Avril Lavigne.
    • Only You Can Love Me This Way by Keith Urban.
    • Want To by Sugarland.
    • Before It's Too Late by The Goo Goo Dolls.

I'm listening to music, hence the amount of songs. >.>

Limitations: Nothing Maruarder or Snape, please. And I can't write Dumbledore or humor to save my life.

I'm excited for this. I'm hoping it'll kick my muse back into gear.
