Are they? The Greengrass' always seemed pretty obscure to me.
It was not in the books, but I think in an interview, J.K. mentioned that in a draft of the Black family tree, she was going to include the Greengrass' in the geneology as well.

And in the essay about Harry Potter's classmates that's on the Harry Potter Lexicon mentions the Greengrass' quite extensively.
