    Dieter Heydrich, Part II

    Heil Hitler.

Some if not many of you already know who I am, but I hope you won't mind if I introduce myself for a second time.

My name is Dieter Eckhard Heydrich, and I was born on 11 December 1927. I am eleven years old and the second-eldest of the six Heydrich children. I have an irritating older brother named Hans at fifteen years old, and I have four younger brothers and sisters: Paul at nine, Marie at seven, Lena at six, and Albert who's four. I could tell you more about my siblings, but that's for some later posts. To move on to my parents, my mother is a hausfrau, and my father works for the NSDAP as an assistant for the town Gemeinschaftsleiter.

Concerning my appearance... well, I suppose I'll just show you! Here's a picture of me. If you were curious, I am wearing my Deutsches Jungvolk uniform in the picture - the DJ is the junior branch of the Hitler Youth, for boys of 10-14 years old. Anyway, though the picture doesn't show it, I have typically Aryan blond hair and blue eyes, much like my father.

And yes, I am purely Aryan, and so is the rest of my family and my friends and neighbours of my little hometown of Gemüsestadt, Thüringen. I am proud to be a youth of the Reich, and a member of the greatest race on Earth! But it doesn't end there, because on my eleventh birthday last year, I discovered that I happened to be an Aryan wizard too: a strangely dressed man named Professor Theoderich Odoaker essentially invited himself to our home and stunned both my parents and myself with the news that I was wizard and had been accepted to Durmstrang Institute of Magical Learning. That was by far the strangest and most exhilarating birthday I've ever had!

So, after endless months of waiting in agony and being pestered by my siblings to show them magic which I did not yet know how to perform, on 1 September 1939 I finally went to Durmstrang, where I am now. I feel I cannot adequately describe what Durmstrang is like in this short introduction, but I'll just say that despite the school having an infestation of Slavs, my four short months at Durmstrang so far have been nothing short of amazingly spectacular and wondrous!

I'm not feeling particularly energetic enough to describe every little detail about my life so far, so I'll leave my introduction at that. I'm sure you're curious to know about Durmstrang and my friends and classes, so don't hesitate to ask.

    ~ Dieter Heydrich

Dieter is the main character in my Grindelwald-era fic, Für Das Größere Wohl. Feel free to ask him absolutely any question you like. Don't worry, he can't hurt you! But I can't guarantee that he won't creep you out a little, though...

Anyway, this is the unprecedented SECOND THREAD for young Dieter Heydrich, and you can find the first thread here:

I'm guessing your a Muggleborn by the way your siblings acted. Had you ever heard of wizards before? What as the stuff you heard? Was it good or bad? And what did it make you expect of Durmstrang?

You said you have the tipical blond hair and blue eyes, well how do you view people that look different?

Do you get along with your siblings? Which one do you like the most? Why? Which one do you dislike the most? Why?

Well that's all I have to ask and since I don't know your lanuage, I'll say goodbye in mine. C'ya lata, Mate!

Hi Dieter! How are you getting on today? I've just got some questions that I hope you could answer...

You mentioned that you are in Deutsches Jungvolk. What does the organization do mostly? And do you know any over boys/girls in the movement who are in Durmstrang as well?

What about your siblings? Hans is too old to be in the Hitler's Youth but your other brothers and sisters, do they have plans to join when they are old enough? Would you be angry/offended if they choose not to?

Your professors at Durmstrang can't all be Aryan. Do you find it hard to respect or learn from someone who is non-Aryan?

To Tim, I've read a couple of chapters of your fic and I super enjoyed it. Can't wait to read the rest of it this weekend!~ And Dieter...he's one disturbing eleven-year-old..

    Hello Dieter!

I'm a proud Aryan too, but I'm Indian. And I have a bit of Dravidian blood so our typically blond hair and light eyes were lost generations before I was born. Anyway,

What do you think of the SS and the concentration camps?

    What does Hans do?

Do your younger siblings plan to be in the DJ too?

To the author: Well, I've been eyeing Dieter for quite some time... but I never really got around to asking questions. I must tell you that he's very different from the usual OCs that we get. Plus, I was just reading 'The Odessa File' by Frederick Foresyth, and the entire Nazi thing captured me... I can't believe what they did... I just can't digest it. I had done it in history earlier, but not in such detail.

But are you aware that Hindus are of Aryan origin too? The Swastika is a religious symbol for us. But we're described as the the 'peaceful and sincere Aryans'. I still wish the Nazis hadn't used the Swastika, though...

Hello there, everyone - thank you for the questions! I'll start with Black-Sand's.

I'm guessing your a Muggleborn by the way your siblings acted. Had you ever heard of wizards before? What as the stuff you heard? Was it good or bad? And what did it make you expect of Durmstrang?

Indeed I am Muggle-born. I had heard of wizards and other magical beings before from Grimm's fairy tales, but they weren't real wizards, if you know what I mean. These stories were written by Muggles, so the magic depicted is often quite inaccurate. However, I was never the kind of person who liked fairy tales, so I can't remember many of them to well and their depictions of wizards and witches never really had any impression on me.

Concerning my expectations for Durmstrang, I already knew what magic was going to be like, since I read through all of my textbooks beforehand.

You said you have the tipical blond hair and blue eyes, well how do you view people that look different?

If they look different, they just look different - I don't hold anything against them, unless they look really ugly! What makes an Aryan is not hair and eye colour, since those are just common but not necessarily absolute attributes of the Aryan. Remember, the Führer's hair is black!

Do you get along with your siblings? Which one do you like the most? Why? Which one do you dislike the most? Why?

Why do you have to ask this question? I like all my siblings equally...

Never mind. I'll be honest. I can't say I have a favourite sibling, but I do have a least favourite - my older brother, Hans. He's annoyingly cocky and irresponsible; also he's not mean, exactly, but he does like to tease. I think he might be jealous that I'm a wizard.

Well that's all I have to ask and since I don't know your lanuage, I'll say goodbye in mine. C'ya lata, Mate!
    Was that English?

    And hello to you, delirioustk.

Hi Dieter! How are you getting on today? I've just got some questions that I hope you could answer...

    Certainly. Ask away.

You mentioned that you are in Deutsches Jungvolk. What does the organization do mostly? And do you know any over boys/girls in the movement who are in Durmstrang as well?

The Deutsches Jungvolk is quite fun - we do things like go camping, hiking, service projects, and pretty much every thing you can do outdoors. This includes snowball fights with the girls in the Jungmädel! Well, that's unofficial, of course...

I'm the only person from my town who goes to Durmstrang, so there aren't any familiar faces. But I can already tell you that any Muggle-born there would be a member of one of the youth organisations - it is compulsory, after all, just like school is.

What about your siblings? Hans is too old to be in the Hitler's Youth but your other brothers and sisters, do they have plans to join when they are old enough? Would you be angry/offended if they choose not to?

Hans is in the Hitler Youth - its for boys between the ages of 14 through 18, and he's fifteen. I'm in the junior branch, the Deutsches Jungvolk for boys between 10 and 14.

    So, here's a little chart:

10-14 years: Deutsches Jungvolk (boys); Jungmädelbund (girls)
15-18 years: Hitler-Jugend (boys); Bund Deutscher Mädel (girls)

Next year, my younger brother Paul will be turning ten and will enter the DJ, and my younger sisters will join the Jungmädel in a few years. As I said earlier, participation in the HJ or the BDM is as important as schoolwork, and required for all German youth.

Your professors at Durmstrang can't all be Aryan. Do you find it hard to respect or learn from someone who is non-Aryan?

I have two professors who are Slavs, and it is impossible to learn anything from them. I wonder why they are allowed to teach at Durmstrang, considering how incompetent and plain stupid they are.

    On to the next person...

I'm a proud Aryan too, but I'm Indian. And I have a bit of Dravidian blood so our typically blond hair and light eyes were lost generations before I was born. Anyway,

How can you be a proud Aryan if you're part Dravadian? And yes, I have taken world geography, so I know who they are. India has a caste system for a reason.

What do you think of the SS and the concentration camps?

The Schutzstaffel does a very important job, keeping peace and order in the Reich. As for these "concentration camps," I don't know what you're talking about, unless you're referring to those camps the British used in South Africa.

Note that the story is currently in late 1939, early 1940. There were concentration camps for political dissidents and people deemed "deviant" at this point, but most people were generally unaware of them because of a sort of an "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. Germans knew that all the communists and others were arrested and "dealt with" somehow, but nobody really cared to look into the matter. Besides, they were troublemakers and Germany was a more peaceful place without them, they thought, so why worry about them? It is in 1942 when the Death Camps get going, and that's then things get scary...

    What does Hans do?

Hans is still in school and in the Hitler Youth, as he's fifteen. He wants to be a gynaecologist when he's older, but that's wishful thinking - he knows nothing about medicine. It seems that the only thing on his mind is getting into girls' skirts.

Do your younger siblings plan to be in the DJ too?

Well, not Marie or Lena, because they're girls...

It was nice talking to you all.

    ~ Dieter Heydrich

Well, thank you for getting around to asking some questions! And yes, I don't think there are many OCs out there who are little Nazi boys, so I believe I can safely say that he is unique.

Concerning the people of India, the Nazis did in fact classify parts of the population as Aryans, but others weren't so lucky. The caste system was praised as being a fine example of a method to ensure racial purity and prevent miscegenation between supposed humans and sub-humans. As you probably know, the swastika is an illegal image in Germany, but Hindu and Jain temples are exempt from this ban (since religions cannot be discriminated against).

Well that's all I have to ask and since I don't know your lanuage, I'll say goodbye in mine. C'ya lata, Mate!

Nope, it's Aussie (Australian). I am five generation Australian on one grandparent for each parent and sixth generation German desendent.

Note that the story is currently in late 1939, early 1940.
Now I'm a bit rusty on this part of history but it was after Germany had to give away their artilery? (not an actuall question).

What did you think of Hitlers inprisonment? If that's already happened.

What kind of propergander is on the streets at the moment? And what do you think of it?

Ignore them if their useless. (Is much better at mythology).

You mentioned friends in your first post. What are they like? Are they Wizards to or are they Muggleborn?

Do you want to be in the DJ? Does your brothers?

Has your brother, Hans, been treating you differently since finding out you were a wizard? How so? Are you greatly effected by it or do you just ignore it?

Your brother thinks about girl (duh, his fifteen). How do you see girls? Are you passed the cooty stage? Or are you mature for your age and have a tendency to get crushes?

That's all I have for now.

    C'yal lata, Mate.

    Well, hello again Sandy.

What did you think of Hitlers inprisonment?

Hitler was imprisoned because his love of his country called him to act - he was very brave to face this injustice, and this was the turning point in the National Socialist movement - it highlighted all the faults of the Weimar government and showed the nation that something had to be done about it.

What kind of propergander is on the streets at the moment? And what do you think of it?

Propaganda? Well, there's newspapers, the radio, posters, books, that sort of thing. And... am I supposed to have an opinion on mass communications? Sort of a strange question, if you ask me.

Note that "propaganda" had a different meaning at the time, and it merely referred to any medium of communication meant to convey information or ideas. Everything from novels to bibles to films would be considered propaganda.

You mentioned friends in your first post. What are they like? Are they Wizards to or are they Muggleborn?

First of all, Muggle-borns are wizards. Please get those ridiculous notions of Pure-blood supremacy out of your head. We're all wizards, regardless of "blood status."

Now, to answer your question, I have my Muggle friends which I've known since childhood (before I found out I was a wizard), and my new friends I've made at Durmstrang.

To start with my Muggle friends, they are Walter, Karl, and Erick, and I won't bore you with detailed descriptions of each of them. However, we spend most of our time together in the Deutsches Jungvolk, doing things like camping and throwing snowballs at the girls in the Jungmädel camp.

At Durmstrang, I have two friends who also happen to be my roommates. Ernst Busch is also Muggle-born, a little taller than me, and has black hair. I've gathered that his family is poor, but I haven't asked him to elaborate on that. Anyway, he's a little on the quiet side, but he's very nice and rather bookish - not that that's a bad thing, because he can help us with homework we don't understand.

That leads me to my other friend, Konrad Ritter. He's a Pure-blood from an old, relatively wealthy family. He looks something like me, but a little shorter. He knows almost nothing about Muggles, but he's quite curious to learn more about the world Ernst and I come from. Concerning personality, he's quite outgoing an can be enthusiastic for pretty much anything.

Do you want to be in the DJ? Does your brothers?

Have you been listening to anything I've said? I'm already in the Deutsches Jungvolk! And concerning my brothers, they have to join the DJ when they turn ten - remember, it's just like school, except in the outdoors.

Has your brother, Hans, been treating you differently since finding out you were a wizard? How so? Are you greatly effected by it or do you just ignore it?

Hmm... I would say Hans hasn't been acting much differently. He used to irritate me, and now he still does. But now he keeps jokingly asking me to teach him spells to do things like make skirts invisible. Yes, he's strange.

But am I greatly affected by it? No, not really. After eleven years, I've gotten used to him.

Your brother thinks about girl (duh, his fifteen). How do you see girls? Are you passed the cooty stage? Or are you mature for your age and have a tendency to get crushes?

Girls mind as well be from another planet - I don't understand them at all! Really, I have nothing in common with them. But they are fun to throw snowballs at.

    Have I answered your question?

Hey, Dieter! It's Nate again! Molly's trying to finish another chapter of my story, so she is letting me out to play for the weekend! About time, too! Those Arcane ScoRA brats have been getting all her attention lately!

I'm sorry, Nate! But I had insperation that I couldn't ignore!

Excuses, excuses! But I anyway, Molly, for some reason, wants Tim to write the rest of your story too. And since she says your working on a summer chapter, I will ask you summer questions.

When does summer vacation start in Germany? When does it end?

What is summer weather like where you live? Does it rain a lot? Is the sun really brutal? Does your town have any special summer festivals?

What grade are your classmates going into? What will school be like for them?

What are your parents going to tell people who ask where you have gone? What will they do when all your old friends ask if they can write to you?

Will you still be a member of your little Nazi Boy Scouts even if you're not living in Germany anymore?

What are some of the questions your brothers and sisters have been asking about the wizarding world?

Have you started reading any of your schoolbooks yet?

What do you usually do for fun in the summer? Is it any different this year?

Anyway, I suppose I have to get back to helping Molly with my own chapter. If you feel any ambition, stop by my thread. Molly won't admit it, but she desperate for ideas.

Well, hello Nate. You're not alone with waiting around for your author to finish writing a chapter or two! At the rate Tim's going, Chapter Seven probably won't be finished until May! He says that he has a lot of research papers to write and exams to study for, or he could just be procrastinating...

    Anyway, on to your questions!

When does summer vacation start in Germany? When does it end?

Where I live, the summer holiday starts at the end of June and lasts until mid August. However, because I now go to Durmstrang, I got a few extra weeks because term started on 1 September.

What is summer weather like where you live? Does it rain a lot? Is the sun really brutal? Does your town have any special summer festivals?

It never gets really hot where I live. Sometimes it can be quite warm, but nothing that's really unpleasant. Generally, it rains mostly evenly throughout the year, but it can be a little intense in the summer - the climate is more varied than if we lived near the Baltic, for instance.

As for festivals, there are some religious holidays, but my family isn't very observant (as in not at all). However, we do have a big rally on the sixth of July every year, commemorating the anniversary of the National Socialist Revolution.

What grade are your classmates going into? What will school be like for them?

My Muggle friends are now in the seventh grade, and school will be more difficult, as always - just like every advancing year is more challenging. As for going through school without me there, I think they can cope.

What are your parents going to tell people who ask where you have gone? What will they do when all your old friends ask if they can write to you?

My parents have decided that the best cover story would be that I was accepted to a Napola school - those are one of those elite National Socialist secondary schools. Since my father works for the Party, he was able to get some very convincing paperwork in case anyone asks prodding questions.

Also, it is just our luck that the post office and the local NSDAP headquarters are actually the same building. Father volunteered to work with communications, so he can intercept all the letters my friends write and send them to me whenever an owl is handy (which is whenever I send a letter to my family).

Will you still be a member of your little Nazi Boy Scouts even if you're not living in Germany anymore?

Of course! And who say's I'm not living in Germany anymore?

Besides, membership only ends when you turn eighteen.

What are some of the questions your brothers and sisters have been asking about the wizarding world?

Too many, and I'll leave it at that.

Have you started reading any of your schoolbooks yet?

Over the summer, I read through some of my textbooks from front to back, such as my Defensive Magic and Charms books. However, the textbooks for Potions and Herbology were dreadfully dull, and I never finished reading past the first chapters.

What do you usually do for fun in the summer? Is it any different this year?

I've still participated in many Deutsches Jungvolk activities, but over the summer before Durmstrang I did a lot of textbook reading, and I admit that I spent quite some time just doing nothing, simply thinking about what my new school would be like.

    ~ Dieter Heydrich

Thanks for the questions, Molly! Concerning the story... well, Dieter's right - I am working on several papers at the moment, and that's no fun. Also, I've been a bit distracted with writing for the Quidditch World Cup...

However, I did manage to write a drabble with Dieter for the Character Gymnasium. But, that's not the same as a full chapter.

Well, hello Nate. It's... nice to see you again!

Is there like a...Department of the Press...thing in Germany? Molly's writing a story about journalism and she told me to ask that.

Yes, we do actually, and it's headed by Joseph Goebbels. It's called the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, and it manages everything from the telephone network to the newspapers.

Who do you think is the best student in your year?

I honestly have no idea. I don't know all the students in the First Year, so I don't know for sure.

By class, who is the best student?

Note that the First Years don't take these classes all at once (there's more than sixty of us), so these students are just from about one third of the total class.

Transfiguration: Probably my friend and fellow Muggle-born, Ernst.
Charms: Again, Ernst. He has a very good grasp of the subject, and he likes to experiment with things in his free time.
Potions: Not me, that's for certain! I think it might be a girl named Else, but I'm not too sure. I'm too busy trying to figure out my own potions to notice who's doing the best.
Herbology: I believe it's some Slavic girl whose name I can't remember. Typical - Slavs seem to have an affinity for dirt.
Defensive Magic: That would be me. I'm by far the best duellist in the class, and Professor Bruno Schmidt chooses me for demonstrations more than anyone else. I find this to be a very easy yet exciting class.
History of Magic: No idea. It's not a hands-on subject, so the only way to know who's the best is to look at everyone's test scores.
Astronomy: I don't know who's the best, but I'm pretty good, actually. In the Deutsches Jungvolk, I learned how to navigate by the stars, so I already have some background knowledge.
Quidditch: Hard to say, because how can you tell who's the better player if one is a Keeper and the other is a Seeker? You can't compare them. But I would say that my friend Konrad is a very good Keeper. Unlike me, he grew up around broomsticks and really knows how to fly.

Have you recieved any letters from your friends yet? What kinds of questions are they asking?

Do you mean my Muggle friends? Yes, I have received letters from them.

My cover story for Durmstrang is that I am attending a Napola school, specifically NPEA Stuhm, which is conveniently located at the other end of the Reich, so my friends or relatives won't try a surprise visit. Of course, I get letters asking probing questions about what it is like to go to a Napola school. Of course, I am doing no such thing, so I have to be very inventive with my responses. I describe the classes as being focused on "practical skills," but I don't elaborate.

Also, I get asked if I've met any new people, which I do answer truthfully, but just without mentions of magic.

What about this Gerta girl? Can you tell us any more about her?

First of all, her name is Gerda, with a 'd.' But to answer your question, she is a giggling idiot and the most annoyingly girlish girl I have ever had the misfortune to meet. Might I add that she likes tickling unsuspecting people?

Does Tim has a class list written up for your year? Molly seems to think that very important, even if I don't know most of the kids.

I don't know if he has. If he has, I haven't seen it.

Or maybe he doesn't want me to see it... Hmpf.

I actually do have a list of some students. There's also some sensitive plot details on it, and I don't want Dieter to see them!

Guten Tag, Tatjana, I haven't seen you in a while! How is Denmark?

Well, I'm here to answer your questions:

Which book is your favorite book and why?

My favourite book might actually be my textbook for Defensive Magic class. I find the subject very fun and I always read ahead to stay on top of things.

But for actual fiction, I like the Sky Captain Otto von Von series. Set during the turn of the century in the Second Reich, the books revolve around Captain Otto and his worldwide adventures in his Zeppelin.

Do you like boxing (or at last want to do it?) because i have heard that many boys who are bit older than do like it.

Boxing is fun when you beat up your opponent, but considerably less fun when you get punched back! In the Deutsches Jungvolk, I preferred wrestling.

Your sisters, how are they like? Are they very much different from you? Do they look up to your or to your older brother?

My sister Marie is seven years old. She's pretty artistic and can draw a lot better than I can (I'm hopeless), so drawing is one of her hobbies. Like the rest of my siblings, she's hoping she'll be a witch and is the most inquisitive of my siblings when it comes to the wizarding world. But back to Marie, she's gotten some idea in her head that she's going to marry a two metre tall Norwegian named Thor Thorsten Thorgan and have fourteen children. Other than that, she's a normal girl (or as normal as girls could be).

My other sister Lena is six years old, and she's unusually energetic. She finds anything that doesn't amuse her within five seconds boring, so she's quite active, preferring to run around and climb trees than read or draw like Marie. Out of my two sisters, Lena is least like me - she has no sense of restraint or responsibility, and that's probably why she likes my older brother Hans so much.

But for my other younger siblings Paul, Marie, and Albert, I set the example because unlike Hans, I am a responsible person. And plus, I happen to be a wizard!

Do you like winter or summer best

I like winter the best, because then there's lots of snow to throw at people!

However, after having experienced a REAL winter at Durmstrang, I think I might reconsider and choose summer instead...

If you could choose to met someone, who would you like to meet, beside Adolf Hitler?

Probably Zaubererreich Kanzler Gellert Grindelwald, I think. I've heard quite a lot about him, and I would like to meet the leader of the wizarding world I am now a part of.

What is the best thing about Dumstrang?

    The magic, of course!

Thanks for the great questions, Molly and Tatjana! Now I'll get back to writing papers. Sigh...

I apologise profusely for having not produced another chapter recently, but I will get around to it once my schedule loosens up.
