Hotlinking FAQ (All requesters, please read!)
Our Queen has asked me to write this, seeing as a lot of our banner requests have had problems with hotlinking.
Hotlinking is when you right click on a banner and press "Copy Image Location" or "Properties" to put it in your sig. This is bad for the bannermakers because it kills our bandwidth. As for the requester, if the banner is moved or deleted, it "disappears." I know that a lot of bannermakers will delete a banner from their servers once it is delivered to the requester.
How might one avoid this, you may ask? All you have to do is upload the banner to your own server.
To upload an image to a server, first save it to your computer. Then get a free account on an image hosting site, such as photobucket or imageshack, and upload the file. Use this link, and it'll be easier for both parties.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
www.tinypic.com is a good host for users who don't wish to start an account someplace. It will allow you to upload images without giving them an e-mail address or user name. (It's called "tinypic" because the links are short; it only resizes large pictures.)
Just make sure that you save the link after uploading your pic or you won't be able to find the pic again. Also, tinypic does seem to delete links that aren't used, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're using the link on the MNFF boards.
