“Nice hit, Jimmy!” That’s my brother, David. He’s going to Hogwarts this coming term, and he has been bugging me into training with him all summer. David wants to be a Beater, just like me. I don’t think he can manage it, though. He can barely even hold up the bat!
The warm sun shines and the soft breeze smooths over my hair, I swoop down on my broomstick and whack the Bludger towards my brother.
A sickening crack sounds through the small paddock. Racing towards my brother, my heart sours, this is the way life should be. Flying all day in the sunlight, not a care in the world, well…except for David.
“I dink I hab a brokenb dose.”
Great, just what I need…
It’s the first match of the Quidditch season. I still can’t believe I made it onto the Gryffindor team and I was on the team last year!
The weather is starting to get colder, I hate the cold. It almost makes Quidditch unpleasant, almost
Gryffindor are in front, of course, and I have saved my teammates many times from the Bludgers.
A cold gust of wind blows into my face and I shiver, as long as it doesn’t rain it’ll be ok…
Gryffindor versus Slytherin. Usually I would be jumping with joy at the thought of defeating those snakes again, but I’m sick. Madam Pomfrey gave me a Pepper-Up Potion; that really
should be enough to please her. But no, I have to stay in the Hospital Wing. My team needs me, they’re going to lose without me, I’m sure of it.
“Now, Mr. Peakes, you may leave.” I sigh, the match is probably over already and the Gryffindors will be picking up what’s left of their pride and running back to the common room without me.
It’s going to be hell. I leave the Hospital Wing with a heavy heart.
This is it, the final match of the season. It’s Gryffindor versus Slytherin again. But this time, I can play.
Gryffindor is in the lead, if only Ginny could catch the Snitch. Wait, what’s that? She’s seen it! I sit on tenterhooks, watching Ginny and the Slytherin Seeker hurtle after the walnut-sized ball.
She’s got it! Ginny just swerved in front of the opposition seeker and she got it! I zoom down towards my teammates, cheering. We engulf each other into a group hug and I hear Ron Weasley saying that he can’t wait to tell Harry.
It is a mass of screaming chaos, and I love it! This is where I belong.
As we all head back to the common room, I can’t help but think that Gryffindor truly is the best Quidditch team at Hogwarts, and I’m part of it!
