    Daily Prophet Exerpt

I need to know how to write an excerpt from the Daily Prophet. I'm not too familiar with the wizarding terminology, nor the Ministry terms, so mostly I'm looking for advice on how to make it sound more official. And what decree… degree… whatever they're called should it be - like how are those ordered?

Also, the excerpt I'm writing is about Professor Flitwick being fired, and replaced by a Ministry Official, if you have any additional information as to how that should be written. Thanks!

    Arianna-

The most valuable source of information that I've found when writing Prophet excerpts are my books and the Lexicon- in this case, particularly the Minstry Rules and Regulations page and the page about the Daily Prophet, which gives the places in the books where Prophet articles are.

The best advice about how to write this I can give you is to use bookmarks, mark all the places in the books where Prophet articles are, and just read those articles. Once you feel like you have a good idea of the writing style these articles use, write your article.

I hope I helped- if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

I heartily second the Lexicon idea.

Becca already gave you a link to the Daily Prophet page there, but in general, the Lexicon is priceless.

If you're talking about format of the article itself, you could probably take an example from any online newspaper. Or, for example, the BBC news site here http://news.bbc.co.uk/ or Reuters here http://www.reuters.com/ .

Have no fear, The Lexicon is here!

Every where I look there are links to the site, lol, and it certainly is a great source for information. Everytime I try to write this passage, when I re-read it, it sounds... dumb. But I'm reading the articles that have been linked, and I have a good idea of the etiquet, so that you both very much.
