Open Membership in the SBBC!
It’s the start of a new year and now the start of a new era for the SBBC. After the great participation in our Open Season during November, Natalie and I have made the decision to get rid of the exclusivity of the SBBC and open it up to everyone–permanently.
This means anyone can participate in our discussions, activities, recommendations and chatter from January 1st, 2014. You will no longer need to complete the application process to join, although you will need to submit a membership request on the boards so you can access the forum.
Participation perks include being a part of our fun and interesting discussions, and discovering new fics and authors. It also means being able to enter our competitions and drabble activities. We will bring back the Ernie Macmillan Effort Award, as well, which awards 15 points each month to the person we think put the most effort into their discussions, activities, and general cheer within the SBBC.
There will be no deadlines for discussions or monthly requirements to fulfill, and you can come and go each month as you please.
This is an experiment. If we find that this is not working or it becomes far too chaotic, we will go back to closed membership. However, with fewer people on the boards these days, we feel like an open membership might just be the key to keeping our community spirit alive.
+Just click here and select Join Group for the SBBC. There is no need to put in an application.
+You must have at least 15 posts on the boards to gain access to the forum. If we see someone has been posting spammy and off-topic posts in other forums on the boards, we may not allow you to participate. We still expect discussions to be lively, thoughtful and welcoming, and if we see any offensive and bad behaviour within a discussion, we reserve the right to remove that user’s access to the SBBC.
+All people participating in a discussion must adhere to the existing SBBC code of conduct which can be found here.
+ There will be no deadlines for discussion although we will keep the recommendation deadline for the 15th of each month.
