We regularly purge inactive members in order to free up server space. Any account that has been inactive (no log-ins or site visits) for one year are deleted, even including former mods and admins.

Since you were sorted before, we can place you back in your previous house, if you wish. If you'd like to be put back into Gryffindor, just send me a PM; I'll put you there and send a message to the head of house to greet you in whatever fashion they might happen to greet you (I really don't know, to be honest).

So... this may be an odd question. But, then again, maybe not. I have been an Author on Mugglenet since I first joined in, I believe, 2006. There have been more than one period of relative in activity. So, the question? I knew you would be thinking that by now... The question is. I joined the forums once before in 2006, though there does not seem to be any record of that. I was sorted at that time in to Gryffindor and I had made several posts, even created a few threads. I realize that all that stuff would be archived by now, but I was wondering what happened to my earlier account? was there a purge of inactive members at some point, or would it be possible to find it again? It would have been based on the same e-mail I used to join again recently.

How do I get sorted? I sent an email to SortingHat and haven't received a reply yet.

Hi all! Long time, no see.

I have a question regarding fic content. I wrote a fic that is a remix of the "Silence of the Lambs" movie. It includes some graphic violence (though nothing that hasn't been approved before) and a touch of cannibalism. I was wondering if it would be okay to post that story on MNFF.

Under the Submission Rules, there is a list of fics that MNFF does not accept, including ones that misuse sensitive topics such as rape (and cannibalism, too, I assume, though I don't think my fic misuses it at all), as well as fics that are extremely graphic. These rules seem to leave some grey areas, and I've read some rather "grey" fics, so I thought I'd pose the question instead of submitting, offending someone, and then possibly being removed from the site.

    Thanks for your help!

To add to what Jess said, we also have the FAQ list (which isn't correctly linked in the first post of this thread and I am about to fix) which answers your question and any others you might have nagging away as well. Good Luck!

To make words links, just type out the word you want to be linked. Then highlight the word. After that, click the little globe symbol in the reply box with the chain-looking thing in front of it. Paste the link into that box and okay. Then you're good to go. You can also do the same with adding links to pictures (like signature images for archive stories) by highlighting the picture code and using the same linking process.

I do apologize for this if it isn't the correct place to ask. I occasionally see words that are links. If you hover your cursor over the word, the color changes and it is underlined. If you click on the word(s), it will send you to an url in another tab. I was wondering if you could tell me how to do this? I'm posting in the group Poetry, Anyone? and knowing how to do the above would really help me out. Thank you!

I can't find anything that indicates that your account is deviated or lacks permission to post (especially as you've recently submitted). Try submitting again or tomorrow and see if it wasn't a one-off server flippage. We've been having some random bugs, so maybe that might've just happened while you were trying to submit. Just make sure you save a copy of your summary and save your coding so you don't have to do that all over again every time the archives wonk out.

If it doesn't work again, let me know and I can give the admins a jingle.

So, today I got on to submit a story to the archives, and while I can navigate the rest of the site just fine, it won't let me go to the "add a new story," or even "manage stories." I have been trying all day... It won't work on my computer, my laptop, or my iPod. While I am not panicking at the moment, I hope that I can get this fixed really soon since I wish to put up my Terrible Two-Shot entry. Help!
