Default Ancients Rune Professor

Was it noted anywhere exactly who taught Ancient Runes at Hogwarts? I've looked in the Lexicon and all it states is Bathsheba Babbling was slated for the position in an early draft of PoA (source, JKR scrapbook on her website), but didn't make it into the final draft. Hence, it is not canon.

Just curious if it was mentioned in DH. I read that book a bit fast and can't remember if anyone - Hermione for instance - mentioned it. The other thing is I don't know if the Lexicon has been comprehensively updated since the release of DH.

The entire Lexicon hasn't been updated since DH, but I've read Deathly Hallows seven times now, and I have yet to see a mention of an Ancient Runes professor.

I think you have free rein to either use Bathsheba Babbling or an OC here.

Hope that helped!

No, there is no named canon character. But, in my story I used Babbling and then I replaced her with the OC in my fanficton Unwelcomed Affections.
