We're on number two, as usual this is the place to ask Questions about drabbles and drabble challenges and round robins etc. Any questions posted in the Drabble Challenge threads will either be deleted or remain un-answered since I don't check those threads as often.
Just a couple of reminders while we're at it.
Please keep material at a PG-13 or below rating for your drabbles. There's no little warning pop-up on the forums and they are viewable by anyone so anything posted here must take that into account.
Also, please check over your drabbles for errors before posting and make sure to space the paragraphs properly so it's easy to read.
Thanks, guys.

Hi Mith!
Quick question:
In Ravenclaw Tower we're required to close all threads once they reach 150 posts. What's the policy on closing threads here at the Three Broomsticks?
I know mine only has 30 posts but I'm just wondering.
And do you prune threads like myownmuggle does for the Beta Boards or VV for the Duelling Club?

For The Scheme Unvieled, are we allowed to do two entries on one drabble?
Thanks!:)

It's the same policy for closing threads forum-wide, but I think if someone reaches that number of posts in here they might be allowed to keep the closed thread without deletion, at least for a while, to give them a chance to save all the comments from other authors... but yeah, we'll deal with that when someone reaches 150, I suppose.
I send old challenge threads to Hermione's Corner, but I don't really prune author's threads...if I did I would notify the author(s) of the thread before doing it...
Yes, you can post more than one drabble for the Scheme challenge!

When does the Scheme Unveiled Challenge close?
MithrilQuill
05-30-2007, 13:44
It doesn't, really. It's an open challenge, so you can pop in there whenever you're inspired and I award points every so often.
In the Scheme Unveiled challenge, you say "The response can be a continuation of the events, an alternate theory where you show what you think is more likely to happen in a situation like the one described in the drabble, or even an attempt to try a new style or literary tool that you felt the author of that drabble used very well."
Well, what about having another character in a similar situation? As in, one person wrote a drabble about someone in Azkaban, and I'm inspired to write about a *different* character in Azkaban...

For the Scheme Unveiled, is there a limit on the number of drabble responses you can do? O.o
Or are you going to put a cap on the number of drabbles we can submit? >>
MithrilQuill
06-02-2007, 14:32
Ok, I've thought this over and I think I won't limit the number of drabbles, you can submit as many as you want, but I'll put a cap on the number of points I'll award to one person at a time. So, I'll award points for that thread every week at the most and the cap is 15 points per person. I think that's fair.

Hey Mithril!
I was just trying to come up with something for the June Monthly Challenge and I had a good idea...but I don't know if it's legal. So here's my question.
Does the drabble have to be from Blaise's POV or can I have another character watching Blaise and it be from their POV?
If it has to be from Blaise's POV then it's no big deal. I'll just come up with something else. :)

I'll let you do that, just as long as Blaise is the main focus of the Drabble. :D

I was wondering about the limits of our freedom in our drabble threads... So far I've been double-posting every now and then, and no one pointed out that it shouldn't be done, since I see that almost everyone does it. Well, I don't really get any comments for a while now, but I keep on piling my drabbles in my thread. So, I was wondering if double, triple, quadraple post are allowed. I'm sorry for asking such a thing, but it's always better to make sure than regret, isn't it?
Oh, while I'm here - when our thread is so full of old drabbles, are we allowed to start a new one? If yes, what happens to our old thread?
Thanks, Mithril! I'll PM you about it when I gather the courage to say goodbye to my old thread :)

Yes, it is, I'm glad you asked. Double and triple posting is fine if you have a new drabble, but try to use your judgement and not overdo it. If it's still near the top of the first page you could just edit. But yeah, it's fine.
Oh, while I'm here - when our thread is so full of old drabbles, are we allowed to start a new one? If yes, what happens to our old thread?

You're only allowed one thread so if you wanted to start fresh the other one would be closed. I could delete it for you, or, if you want me to keep it a while so you can save all the comments you got I could store it for a couple of days. But yeah, when you want to start a new one, PM me and I'll close/delete the old one.

Oh, I picked the May one at the end of May so I'll do the same for June. It's like...the person who was the most helpful throughout June...

Um, I was just wondering, can we still sumbit to the June challenge...I've never been sure of the last day of a challenge...is it always the last day of the month? Sorry for the dumb question...and while I'm at it, can the Blaise story be told from his point of view, but be mostly about his mother? It's still about his opinion of her and told in his own way though. Annnnnnd...I'm not on my computer, I'm at my grandparents to help with my 12 little cousins, and they don't have a word count here, so I'm probably just gonna have to count, is it okay if I'm not entirely accurate? Yeah, you have until tomorrow to submit it. I usually post the new challenge thread a day before the old one closes so everyone has a bit of a warning. As long as you see the thread open you can submit, but I'll be closing it tomorrow.
It can be about his mother and what he thinks of her, yes.
I really only care that there aren't more than 500 words so I don't care so much if it's not accurate, just try to make sure it's not too long and doesn't go overboard. :D

Just a generic question:
What sorts of things do you look for in the monthly challenge drabbles? Like, what sets the winning drabbles apart from the others and what sorts of things give a drabble that extra "oomph"? :D Is it orginiality? Writing style? Theme?
Just asking. I love participating in the challenges and I was curious on how you pick the winners. It doesn't really matter to me if I win or not, though. ;) Feel free to complete disregard this if you feel it's innapropriate. *hides*

There's never any harm in asking! It depends on the drabbles submitted in that challenge, but in genrral I usually read them over once and then keep in mind the ones that stuck out in terms of originality or excptional characterization and then re-read those and narrow it down further. So yeah, characterization and originality, and it's usually a minus if I've read the same plot/idea over and over and over in fanfics...
But I'm glad you asked, I'll take extra care to be more careful with the selection in future and if you guys like I could post a little note on why each one stood out. That would probably make the judging process alot slower, though.

Hello, I want to enter the July drabble challenge, but the prologue I want to write is for one of my stories that is not on the site yet, as I'm not quite finished with the first chapter. But I think a prologue would definately fit the story, so my questions is, I guess:

Anyways, is there a word count limit on the drabbles we post in our threads here? I've got one that's quickly turning into a rather long one (I think I can submit it, actually) and I was wondering if I could post it here. Or would you rather I break it up?
Thanks!

The deadline for the monthly challenge is seventh of August and I've said that in both the Announcement thread and in here.

Hi!
I've already written my drabble for the september challenge, and posted it in my thread, but I have a question. My drabble is 511 words, but 12 of those words are from the quote I am using, from an unknown author. It would reach the exact limit, 499 without the quote...I was wondering if that's okay..

Just a few basic questions, as I'm new to drabbling:
After getting comments on a drabble you wrote, can you go back and change it to fit the suggestions and wishes of those who commented? If so, is there a policy on crediting these people, as their suggestions are openly in your thread?
What is the post limit in a drabble thread?
This question has, I think, been asked before, but I'm hoping to word it differently and more specifically in order to get a more specific response:
When our drabble thread gets too full and we ask for it to be closed, but left up for a couple days so it can we can save it, are we allowed to post a new drabble thread in the meantime? Or do we have to wait until the old thread is completely gone?
One last one and I'll be off, I promise:
Are points given just for drabbling, or only for challenges?
Thank you very much and I hope all these questions are in the right place. (I couldn't find the first Question thread, otherwise I obviously would have scoured it first.)

Well, since, as you mentioned, their suggestions are openly posted in the same thread there's no real policy about crediting them, but it would be good if you did.
What is the post limit in a drabble thread?
150 posts.
This question has, I think, been asked before, but I'm hoping to word it differently and more specifically in order to get a more specific response:

For the Weekly challenges, (the word beads), can we use present or past tense of the verbs?
Use the following words: hunt, calculate, camera, sharpen in a drabble, correctly both grammatically and in their definition.
So can we use "hunting/hunted", "calculating/calculated", etC?

CM: The challenge is to use the words in the state they were given to you guys. So, in other words, no. Leave them as hunt, calculate. At least for this first word beads. Perhaps later we will considering other tenses. XD
Selina: I'm not sure what you meant on how many drabbles you can post. If it's for a challenge, you can only post one. If you meant on your drabble thread and posting several drabbles in one post, then you'll have to figure out the limit yourself. The posting box doesn't allow more than a certain amount of words to be posted at any one time, but I've seen drabblers with up to five drabbles in one post. And if you meant, in your drabble thread. You're limited to 150 posts including the posts of those who compliment your writing.
Glad I could help. XD

I have drabbles I have written for in house challenges and I would like other views on them. Do I have to write original drabbles to have a thread here, or can I re-post the ones I have already posted in the Tower?
I would more than likely have more to post later, but I really would like feedback on the ones I've done so far.
One other thing? To enter the weeklies, I need a thread here, correct?
I hate to be a bother, but I just don't want to make a mistake and put one up if I am only allowed original or weekly challenge ones.

You can post drabbles that you've written for other challenges and original drabbles in your own thread here in the Three Broomsticks. You're not limited to just the ones you write on a whim. So go ahead and post away! You can post as many drabbles as you want as long as you follow the forum rules of no double-posting, editing posts, and no more than 150 posts per thread.

Used to dislike. You don't necessarily have to like them now, either, just try to show a more in-depth (and realistic) take on them and look around for other opinions on the forums and see if maybe you've changed your mind about them just a teeny bit. :D I hope that was less confusing than the original instructions, lol

Hello! :)
I'm working on my entry for the monthly challenge and I was wondering, do we have to write about one character only? I mean, can we choose a whole family? Like the Dursleys, they're all a bit similar, aren't they? I'm not talking about specifically every one of the Durleys, but just the Dursley family in general.

I guess that's fine, just make sure you characterize them realistically and keep in mind that they aren't all just one lump, but actually three different people.

In regards to the first question, yes. Rounds robins are meant to be posted in more than once by different authors. You may post only once. Or twice, or ten. The only rule is you can't go twice. And you can't post two drabbles in one post.
Capisce?
In regards to the second question, not necessarily. At the end of this week, I'll be looking through the drabbles and awarding points for participation, and well-thought out/written drabbles. Keep in mind though that even if you post ten drabbles, you may not get points for each one.
I hope you that answered your questions.

Hi Weasleyboyfreak
They're posted in the thread after it is judged. The thread is left open for a couple of days, and then moved to Hermione's Corner.
You can also look here (http://www.fanfiction.mugglenet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=181357#post181357) - I keep a list of the winners and the most recent weeklies.
OR you could always visit the House Points thread and scroll through it. XD
I hope that answered your question.

Any time of the year is perfectly fine!
And just a note for everyone to have patience with the October/November results. It might take me a bit because I'm currently doing exams. I will get to it as soon as I have a couple of free hours, though.

*Cackles evilly*
You didn't specify a word limit for the Celebrations drabble challenge! Does this mean I can run rampant? Because I have this huge bunny doing exactly that in my head, and if you don't make it necessary to cut it down... You'll have created a monster!!
So, my question is: Is there a maximum word limit on the December Challenge drabble?
EDIT: Darn it. I really did know that would be the case, but I figured one can always hope.
mugglemathdork
12-04-2007, 00:37
Phia: Drabbles are less than 500 words. I'm sure MQ meant a standard drabble between 100-499 words, unless otherwise noted. Remember, these are only drabbles, not one-shots. If you would like to expand your drabble into a one-shot, you are more than welcome to do so.

For the "Splinched" challenge, must the drabble actually be a drabble? For example, may I write an amusing ditty or song and submit it? I'll probably end up deciding that's too hard and just write a drabble in any case, but you never know.
Oh, and we don't still need warnings in front of drabbles with DH spoilers in them, do we?
mugglemathdork
12-05-2007, 08:58
Phia: I'd prefer a drabble. If you, however, can create something interesting that isn't necessarily a drabble, and well-written I'll accept that. I don't want to say no, but I don't want to say yes either because other users might start submitting ditty's or songs to the drabble challenge. Did I make sense? o.0

I'm sure this is stretching the prompt a little too far, but I thought I'd ask anyway. For the December Monthly Challenge, would a family that practices a celebration in a very different way count? They might have the same culture, but the traditions aren't similar? (ie: the difference in the way Ron celebrates Christmas as opposed to the way Harry would have with the Dursleys?)

In the weekly challenges how much emphasis is put on the theme? I mean I notice some people using the theme, but there does not seem to be any significance for the theme...woah, that sounds a little confusing to me...I hope you get the drift.
I have only entered the last two weekly challenges so am not aware of the criterion used to judge the works and what items have more weight than others... (Oh, and how can we be sure a Slytherin will not be biased in judging? Just kidding)
Well, it's been fun. Thanks.

First, a 'Claw judges the Weeklies. XD
As far as criterion is concerned, there is no official "rubric" for judging. I always state in the weeklies that all drabbles will be held up to the MNFF Submission Guidelines - which includes grammar, format, plot, etc. IF that's what you mean in regards to criterion. 'Cause I most definitely look at that first and foremost. THEN I judge on the quality of the drabble, the originality, and the use of the prompt more than the theme itself. I don't do 'themes' very often because they're much more open as you've mentioned/noticed.
In a nutshell, it depends on the prompt.
"Word Beads" MUST include the words I require to be used in the drabble, correctly and efficiently.
"Themes" are by far the most open of all challenges. As long as the theme is used in some manner or another.
"Historical Splinches" are a bit harder because I'll pick a time period in history and require you mold it to fit the wizarding world.
"Magical Mishaps" require a bit of creativity on the part of the writer.
And so on and so forth. I have LOADS of different challenges ready to go at a moment's notice so 'themes' will rarely make an appearance....
So I hope that answers your questions!
Cheers!

Hey,
I've got a quick question. Can we get house points for our work in the Remus's Reflections section? I see that some people have but I have just posted there and I havn't gotten any. If you do get points, how do they get handed out? (hope that makes sense). Thank you!
~Weasleyboyfreak

You will eventually get points for those, but it takes a while for the mods in charge of it to go in and do that. Leah or I will go in there whenever we have time and award a bunch of points all at once(like a did a few days ago). I'm going to try to go in and award another bunch of points for the latest drabbles before the end of term sometime (Dec 20-ish), unless Leah beats me to it, that is...:D
How the points generally get awarded: I generally award 3-5 points for good drabbles and if it's exceptional for whatever reason(great characterization or maybe good description or excellently written emotions etc) you can get up to 10.

Play form? As in "Act 1 Scene 4: The Reaping"
Harry: -walks from right stage- Ron! It was begun!
Ron: -standing in middle of stage- It's not time, Harry. We need to hold them off for a bit.
Is that what you have in mind?

A thread is usually considered 'full' when it reaches 150 posts. At that point, the thread will be closed and the author will be allowed some time to save any comments/posts he/she wants then it will be deleted.

Hi!
Well, I was wondering whether, one, the new weekly drabble has to revolve around the 'Wizard in a Muggle World' thing, or can it just include that. And two, does the person living with the Muggles have to be someone who needs to adapt to them? Because Harry and Hermione both already lived with Muggles.... do they count, or does it have to be someone like Ron going to live with them for whatever reason.
Thanks in advance! :)

I'm leaving it up to you guys to choose the wizard/witch living with Muggles. However, considering it's a challenge, choosing either Hermione or Harry isn't going to be very creative and it'll be hard for me to pick it as a winner unless it's just plain spectacular.

Ok, for the February Challenge, does the Drabble have to be expressley about the OC or can we be seeing an OC from a canon character's POV (I'm thinking Rose Weasley)?

Good questions, good questions.
You can write about the character from someone else's eyes, that's perfectly fine with me, just as long as they're the main focus of the drabble.
And yes, you can enter two drabbles.

Question:
What if you don't have an OC of your own for the Febuary challenge?
Could you "borrow" someone elses OC and just give credit to the author of that OC?
MithrilQuill

Hmmmm. I'd like you to try and use OCs that are your own, but if you can't do that, and don't have time to make any up just for this challenge ;P then you may use someone else's as long as you have their permission and give them the proper credit.

This might sound like a dumb question, but if we are planning to enter two drabbles but we finish one before the other, would we edit our original post when we finish the second drabble, or post again? And if the drabbles both contain two OCs, but one more focused than the other, is it still all right to enter two separte drabbles? I ask because the two OCs I want to write about are from completely different stories, but they both have supporting OCs.
EDIT: Also, is it okay if we go say, five words over the limit?

I'm not 100% sure what you want to do with the two different OCs and stuff, but I'm ok with it as long as they're both in the same post and an OC is the focus of each drabble you submit.
Try to get rid of those five words or rephrase some stuff, they're usually words you don't need! If you absolutely have to have those five words then keep them and I'll try to be lenient if I think the words really were necessary in the drabble...:D

My question reguards the Lost Love Weekly Challenge. In order to make the story meet all of the guide lines, does this story has to be love between lovers (husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend...), or can it be love between family or friends? (Bestfriends, siblings...)

I hope I am allowed to answer this.
A.H. the only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. So, drabbles are just small little stories, less than 500 words. Most are written due to prompts you are given, something someone sayes, a picture you have seen, a challenge or a class assignment. Once you have written a couple, start yourself a thread, with a clever little title, and post the drabbles in your thread. People will come in and read them and critique them or review them, just like a story. Since the que is currently closed, there is alot of drabble activity. It also helps you improve your writing skills, espically when people give you input. The weekly challenges are a good way to start, the challenge is to keep it under 500 words, some are less than that. If it is a challenge then the information is in it. Only Mods can start challenges unless there is something going on in your CR that allows someone else to start a challenge. Jump in and have fun.

You should be using Canon characters unless otherwise specified, like in the OC challenge. If you're getting tired of the well-known canon characters there are plenty of minor character that are barely mentioned in the books so those would be a good alternative instead of using OCs.
And two, can we enter a drabble that we are planning to enter in a different challenge. I ask because the quote for this week inspired the end of my OC drabble for the monthly challenge. Again, sorry if those questions are repeated or obvious answers.

You shouldn't be submitting the same drabble to more than one challenge, actually. If the quote inspired you to write your OC drabble, that's fine, but don't submit the same Drabble to both, come up with different entries for each one or choose.

02-23-2008, 21:41
So, my main OC existed before HBP, and so, she's pretty firmly AU. If I write her, it will have an AU tag, and my drabble concept will directly involve a clearly non-canon relationship with a canon character --- will that affect the judging of 'how well she fits into the HP universe'? I'm rather reluctant to enter a drabble that will automatically lose any chance of winning, when I could try another plot concept with her, or choose another OC.
MithrilQuill
02-24-2008, 15:43
Hmmm...
What I meant by how well they fit into the HP-verse wasn't really whether you're 100% canonically accurate to the last book or not, just that it makes sense with the potterverse in general and the character doesn't feel out of place or weird in the world. So if it disregards the last book or the last couple, that's fine, as long as the character seems to have a nice defined place in the potterverse and doesn't make me think: "Am I really reading HP fanfic or what?"
So yes, put an AU warning and you should be fine. :D

Your task this time is to show us snippets of a world within the potterverse. This can be, for example, concentrating on parts of the magical world that Harry doesn't really come into contact with, but that you'd like to explore. Or different times/cultures within the wizarding world, or maybe even a little known magical shop or place that you'd like to explore a little more.
Can this be ANY aspect of the Potter universe? Like, the professor's night life, or something to do with the Death Eaters, or SHOULD it be another culture or something?

This might be stupid, but I suppose it's always better to be clear about something, at the risk of sounding stupid.
For the new monthly challenge, does there have to be absolutely NO mention to canon? Or do we have to incorporate say, simply a character's name to prove that it isn't completely original? And I was also wondering where to submit if for the one-shot option, like Stubbornly_appeared.

You're usually safe entering two different entries to any of the monthlies and this one is no exception. If you wan to enter 3 I might let that pass, but I'd advise that you work harder on the one or two rather than doing more. So yeah, you can enter more than one.
For the one shot: It would have to be submitted to the archives and hopefully, the site should be in working order very soon so you'll have plenty of time to submit after the upgrade! It should be about magic, and have some sort of link to the potterverse we know and love, this can be through a character or something or even a spell that we know of, stuff like that.
What I don't want to see is excessive reference to Harry and the main characters and main events.
And don't worry about submitting that to the archives. We have stuff on there that takes place in Ancient Egypt and other places and that's still considered fanfic!
Laur: Off the top of my head I can think of maybe writing about a magical inn from a different historical period or a different wizarding culture other than the British wizarding world we know or even just a little cozy wizarding bookstore hidden in the back of diagon alley where some rare books can be found. Again, these are just lame off the top of my head examples, you guys will probably think of much better ones or ways to make these sound better than I did, but I hope that helps a bit. If it's still not helping send me your idea by PM and I'll let you know if it works for this challenge.
For the monthly, can we use minor characters found in canon? As in Parvati or Padma? The fic will take place in India (where they are supposed to be from) so it will be something new. Also, can we continue writing the fic once the challenge is over? I know you said only one-shots are allowed, but if I do it, it'll be definitely much later.

I have a question about the March/April Challenge..
If we pair up with someone and decide to do all of the things that you're allowed to do for the challenge, can they be about different things?

Just make sure to separate the different places clearly when you enter and clearly identify them as different entries. For example If me and my partner had two worlds that we entered for the challenge and I was the one making the post I would format my post kind of like this:

Entry 1: World X

I hope that little silly form example version helped explain what I'm looking for more than my initial post did! Let me know if I've missed your point or if you have more questions!

For the monthly - Would a ghost count as a being from "a world within the potterverse" ? It would be about a ghost that's mentioned very briefly in the HP series but not expanded upon, and would sort of relate back to the wizarding world since only wizards can become ghosts. Just thought I should check =]

Hmmm, yeah. Concentrate more on the world aspect of it than characterization of the one specific ghost and you should be fine. :D That sounds interesting, actually!

Hi - for the monthly challenge, can the world... not be part of this world? How about my version of an afterlife?

As long as you can link it to HP somehow, the tiniest bit...but that shouldn't be too hard to do after DH anyway. So yeah, just keep in mind that we want at least a very vague connection between your world and HP and you should be fine! These are sounding interesting, can't wait to see the entries!

Mith love, I'm going to expand a bit on TCole's questions.
If we can do two worlds and make different entries but let the two worlds remain seperate, doesn't that defeat the purpose of pairing up?
Just make sure to separate the different places clearly when you enter and clearly identify them as different entries. For example If me and my partner had two worlds that we entered for the challenge and I was the one making the post I would format my post kind of like this:
Team: Mithril and MQ
Entry 1: World X
- One Shot
- Drabbles
- Banners/Pics
- Snippets
Can we devide an entry (clearly labeled) into two worlds? Lilke this:
Drabble, Banner 1, Snippet 1- World X
One shot, Snippet 2, banner 2- World Y

What I meant was that they needed to be distinguished as separate entries within the same post so I don't get confused when I'm looking at them. So yeah, we're essentially saying the same thing, we've just organized the post a little differently!

Hey,
I hate to sound pushy or anything (really! honest! ;) ) but what's going on with the weeklies? Grading on previous weeklies seems to have stopped and there aren't any new ones going up, plus Rosmerta's Bulletein Board is out of date.

That's entirely my fault. I'm judging the weeklies as I type this...and frantically posting a new one in an hour or so. I've fallen behind, and my apologies. -sigh-

Aww, poor Ritta. Never mind love, everyone gets behind once in a while. Anyway, my question:
For the weekly, Muggle Ads, is it ok to imply that our character has seen the ad and is reacting to it without really showing him/her seeing the ad in question?
Oh dear, does that question make any sense?=Sammy

Yes, that question made sense. LOL
It is perfectly fine to imply that your character has seen the ad and is reacting to it without really showing what type of ad it was - just make sure you add the slogan for the ad in some form or another.
Did that make sense?

Do the charges for mistakes in stories stretch over to drabbles as well, or is that only for teh archives? ;-)
Thanks,

Hi!
For the March/April Monthly, do we submit the one-shot to its appropriate, 'normal' category or to contest submissions? Because when I go to contest submissions, I don't see something specific to this challenge.
Thanks!
MithrilQuill

It goes into whatever normal cat it fits best in, there's no special one for this challenge! :D
In the rules for the March/April monthly, it says that we can submit 3 snippets of 50-200 words. But how many drabbles may we submit about the same world? If we don't do some of the other options, may we submit more than one?

I've been wondering why the drabbles here are 500 words?
The true definition of a drabble is a work of exactly 100 words as per its origins at the Birmingham University in the 80s - its almost always 100 words in drabble contests elsewhere.
Surely 500 words falls more into the category of shortfic or flashfic?

Hello LBC
I am very well aware of this definition. XD Particularly due my participation in other communities not on MNFF.
For all purposes, the 500 word limit was set up before the Ebil One was in charge of the weeklies. However, I'm going to quote the Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drabble) page on drabbles here: "The purpose of the drabble is brevity and to test the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space"
I'm going to assume that this loose definition was used so that authors could create a sort of plot into their entries. Even though, they should be technically called ficlets instead. XD
However, in a round-robin [which we have every couple of months], and in the QWC, the Ebil One and MQ enforce the true definition of a drabble.
Either way, if this is an issue, MQ and the Ebil One will be more than happy to discuss it but as you may know - word definitions evolve in time -shrugs-
I hope this answered your question - if you have any more concerns feel free to PM me or MQ

Ritta love, shouldn't the weekly be locked already, seeing as it is way over 2nd april. What if people enter late? Do their entries get to be judged too?
Sorry for being such a bother love. just wanted to know. :o*Squish*=Sammy

I'll be locking it shortly, dear. XD
And for the record, late entries aren't judged; hence, the deadline. =]
And you're not a bother.

It also says you're allowed to submit one drabble. Try to stick to those numbers I've indicated in the post, but if you don't submit ANY of the snippets for example, I might overlook an extra drabble if the entry is exceptional. But yeah, please try to stick to the numbers indicated. I've given you alot of options so that you have a variety of ways to tell us about your world and so it doesn't get too boring with just drabbles.
