Ah, Ravenclaw. When I first joined back in May of '06, I was so confused about my House. How do I earn points? Why are there so many threads? Do I belong here? Those were a few of my early questions. But besides from having questions, I was intimidated. There were so many people who all seemed to know each other: how was I supposed to fit in?
Well, it only took a couple of months, but come September I was significantly more comfortable in our Tower. For me, the one significant thing that made it easier was by participating in a Round Robin we had. I felt so much more comfortable, and even started posting in our Common Room (aka CR). I also took classes in Hogwarts, which made me more comfortable with the forum at large.
Moral of this story, participating made it so much easier. Everyone in Ravenclaw is super friendly, and no one is mean. I love my House :D

I was so excited when I got sorted into Ravenclaw in October of '06. I knew this was where I belonged. However, I was also intimidated by the older members. It seemed like everyone was friends, and I didn't want to butt in. Once I worked up the nerve to start posting in the Common Room, I realized I was right: we all are friends. My fellow 'Claws (or Turnips :D) were all so nice and accepting. They are always there to help when anybody needs it. I'm extremely proud to be a part of my wonderful House.
Ravenclaw is so much fun. We discuss theories (and everything else ;)); play Guess the Turnip; give each other hugs, pep talks, help, applause, and confetti (and the occasional birthday cake); and work together to earn House points. We have a mascot, Turnip the Plot Bunny, but Snape also hangs around our Common Room a lot. It gets pretty crazy whenever he drops in. :)
As sappy as it may sound, it's the best, and I absolutely love it. :D

I would hazard a guess that I originally joined the forums back in March of 2006 (I don't remember the exact date). I spent a little over one happy month getting comfortable with my Hufflepuff house mates. Then the boards got the big redo and I opted to resort. So I rejoined the forums on May 10th of 2006 (the day after my birthday) and within a few days found that I was sorted into Ravenclaw. It seemed like everyone else was a Ravenclaw veteran from before the switch, making me feel like the odd duck out. So I made a few brave ventures to introduce myself in the common room, where I met Insecurity (now Tyrannolaurus), garyf, joanna, woomama, Poultrygeist, lily_evans34, wishiwereaweasley, and Magical Maeve (I think she was just becoming our HoH at the time), among many others. Though some of the ladies (okay, a lot of them) were drool rag-carrying Snape lovers (which I admit scared me at first). As time passed, I came to see that even though I would prefer to drool over Sirius, they were perfectly harmless and very kind.
I participated in a number of activities Ravenclaw offered from our one-time debate club to three of the round robins tht popped up, the most recent one starring our fluffy little mascot, Turnip. I remember going through a number of common rooms as they were closed due to mass amounts of spam filling them up and shiny new ones that we promptly filled up with semi-meaningful discussions, sparkly confetti, streamers, and even more spam.
Even though some of the people that I met when I first entered the house are gone (or going by different names), there have been many new Turnips and Sprouts that came along. Also, the Turnips and Sprouts have some how managed to cut back on our spam. It's still there, but there's a lot less now than there was almost a year ago.
I love Ravenclaw so much. The Turnips of old and the Sprouts of... er... new are a pleasant bunch that I wouldn't want to give up. I love how we have threads to wish each other a happy birthday; congratulate and commiserate our fellows for earning points, and sharing good and bad news; banners and avvies representing Ravenclaw; guess the Turnip (or Sprout) where the winner gets the Turnip of Doom; and others of the sort. Snape will occasionally pop in to treat us to his snark or else sit around in the CR (where I am guilty of slipping him sleeping draught and dying his hair blue *grins evilly* I apologize to the Snape fans, it was too much fun and I only did it once a few months ago). Moving on before I get pelted by more rotten turnips, I would alos like to add that on rare occasions we will sometimes have a nice big Ravneclaw AIM chat party. For the one on Jan's birthday, garyf and I were the last ones there and we talked while seeing who would be the last one there (he won).
Anyway, for those who are brand new to Ravenclaw, don't be afraid to ask or talk to the older members. We may seem scary, but there's no need to fear us. We are always happy to lend a helping hand.

Hi! *waves*
I hope you enjoy being in Ravenclaw. We're a crazy group of people from a mixed background. Even though first it might seem like we're all "tight knit" and stuck in groups, it is false! We welcome Sprouts with open arms, and lots of hugs!
*turnip hugs*
I got sorted back before the forums were re-vamped (March 2006) and had to wait a month to get back on so I never really got a chance to get to know my House mates. Once the forums were re-opened, I can pretty much "ditto" what helgaandgodric, Just Beyond the Veil, and Lily_writes have mentioned. I felt out of place, it felt like everyone already had friends. I didn't know how to participate. I began with small things like posting here or there, and eventually I found myself accepted in the loving arms of my fellow Turnips. So...moral of the story, participate. Don't be shy, and think you'll be shunned. You won't!
We have a lot of fun stuff to do in our Tower. I run the Guess the Turnip thread which is very fun, and I'm always bugging people to participate. =] I hope once you feel comfortable, you'll participate as well. And even if you don't...it's a great way to get to know your fellow Turnips and Sprouts. If you "guess the Turnip" you get to hold the Turnip O' Doom!
We have Snape in our CR (I'm not quite sure why), and a cute plot-bunny as our mascot...his name is Turnip. He tried taking over siggies for a while back in December '06.
We hold fiction exchanges once in a while, and crack!fic Round Robins. We have a "Who's Who in Ravenclaw" thread where you have to wear the Sorting Hat and see what song it plays for you. We have loads of fun, and many other threads that make it an enjoyable place to be.
Erm...
Since no one else in my cohort here has mentioned it, I think I will.
The Story Behind the Turnip:
You're probably wondering what all this "Turnip" and "Sprout" business is, right?
Well, I can't tell you who started the "Turnip" thing exactly, but back in the day (in other words, before my time) a fellow 'Claw got confused and posted in the CR that Luna Lovegood wore turnips for earrings when in reality it was radishes.
Somehow the name stuck, and we called ourselves Turnips. =]
As for the Sprouts...that's what we call "newbies" (like you) in our House. Mooncalf came up with the name as a joke, but again, it stuck. So...your current status is that of a Sprout, but don't fret. Eventually, we all bloom and transition into Turnip status - mind you, there's no formal "Welcome to Turniphood" celebration - it's really more of a personal growth reflection on your part to make.
Again, I hope you enjoy your stay in our Tower, and partake in all the wonderful activities that Ravenclaw has to offer.
*hugs*

Oh, my! A walk down memory lane! I always hoped I would be sorted into Gryffindor, being the biased little girl I am, but I was just as happy--even happiper!--to find that I was sorted into Ravenclaw. I was a little scared at first (who wouldn't be, with people like Sandy, Andrea, and Gina in your house?:p JK, guys, you know I love you!) because everyone was so comfortable with each other, but I soon found my little niche within the House and I made a fine little sprout.
Then I found out about Snape. He sleeps in a chair by the fire, and he doesn't move. (Though, if you move past him in the night, he blinks at you. ) All the 'Claw ladies are infacuated with him--I myself was converted. You will soon learn that you will either be converted or respectively disagreed with. (Just ask Sandy.)
Our Common Room is the best place in the world--we go through like two every month! We are a very talkative bunch. We are always discussing things about the books and RL.
When I joined, I was shy. But the 'Claws make you feel at home so fast, you'll feel like you've been there forever! I've been a member of the forums since last July, and of Ravenclaw since around September. The monthly challenges are a blast, and the Guess a Turnip thread is ablaze with info on your fellow turnips.

Hi again! I'm posting again to let you all know that even though some members can seem more intimidating than others, everyone is really nice. I've noticed in everyone's post that they felt intimidated when they were first here, and that is perfectly natural. However, everyone is perfectly approachable, and I have yet to meet someone who will be rude to you if you are nice to them.
That leads me to my next topic. Remember that here on the internet, something that you type will not always sound the same as if you were to say it. So you may not intend to sound mean, but someone will think that you do. That's a main reason why people use astericks so much: if you're saying something that is supposed to be sarcastic, then it helps to say "*sarcasm*" or "</sarcasm>"
The little arrow symbols (see above) are used after a particular bout of, say, sarcasm. Some one might say, "<sarcasm> Yeah, Harry will totally quit being a wizard to follow his dream of being a world famous gymnast </sarcasm>" to indicate that they were being sarcastic. One that is particularly popular in Ravenclaw is "</rant>," which usually comes after someone, well, ranting.
Kate
EDIT: I totally just used the arrow. I was doing a promotion for the Ravenclaw Plot Bunny Adoption Center, advertising the new bunnies, and afterwards said "</shameless self promotion>". And I just realized that I didn't explain the origins of the arrows. They come from the HTML tags used, specifically on MNFF, such as <i>textIwantitalicised</i> and <b>thisIwantbold</b> or even <u>thisneedstobeunderlined</u>. So, yeah. :)
EDIT May 21: One more thing. When you're signing up for a class at Hogwarts, make sure that you are a member of the Student Usergroup, or you can't post. Go to the "user CP," and then in the bar on the left at the bottom there is "groups." go to that and apply to be a student!

Even though I'm not in our lovely Navy, *squishes* 'someone' mentioned in the Ask the Navy thread that us House peoples can post and say stuff. So if you don't want to hear me rant, step away. :)
I'm known as Sir Lady Alanna the Random of the Turnip Table, Alanna for short if you don't want to type all that. I'm a somewhat new Turnip, as I joined last April, on my brother's dog's birthday, I think. </randomness> I was Sorted a few weeks after, once I was aquianted with the rest of the forum. I barged in, but I was slightly scared, but I hid it, the noble person I am. </slightsarcasm> I was frightened by all of these people who were at my stage of HP obsession (for lack of a better word) but some people were nice to me, and I give kudos to emily_the_poet, who gave me the idea for the random part of my title (allthough I've always been out there, she was the one whom made me recognize it.) Now I'm attempting to do everything, between homework (IT'S GONE! *squees*) sports, drama, extracurriculars, and RL. I'm a SS student, attempting to bring glory to my House, a beta, a Snape fanatic (comes with being a Turnip. We've got all of the Snape fans.) and a much better writer than when I joined, thanks to all of those wonderful people who are our mods and members. Oh, and thanks to Jan for choosing pics with Snape in them for our Caption contest. And if you want to chat, go ahead and PM me, but I don't do IM. I love talking!

Ooooh, a shiny new thread for Ravenclaw Newbies! How exciting!
Hi! I'm red and gold, or Andrea. I am one of the drool-rag carrying lovers of all things Snape that Star/Wand_Waver2006 warned - er, spoke about. But, don't let that scare you off - I also like Lucius Malfoy! :p
I was sorted into Ravenclaw in February 2007. I was a shivering Sprout, terrified to post in the common room until I noticed that the lovely 'Claws all seemed to be wonderfully helpful, witty, and just a lively, fun bunch of Turnips! I started posting in the common room and I was welcomed with open arms and introduced to several other Snape-lovers (hooray!)
I started entering Ravenclaw In-House Challenges, wishing others "Happy Birthday" in our Birthday Thread, Congratulating Turnips on a job well done in our Congratulations and Commiserations Thread, and getting to know some of the kindest, most wonderful people in these forums. (I'm biased, I admit it. :D )
With the support and encouragement of my fellow 'Claws, I branched out into posting in different threads, joining Dean's Corner (which is for those who love art), the Duelling Club (which is for those who love to ask and be asked questions about all things HP/fanfic related ~although a friend of mine did get asked if she prefers ketchup on her tater tots) and taking Hogwarts summer classes.
One of the highlights of these last months - though there are many - was our Ravenclaw Team winning the Quidditch World Cup! Woot! I would encourage everyone to try out for the team when try outs resume in September. (Our own lovely Star was our Cap'n and an amazing job she did, too!) Quidditch is a type of round-robin writing that sharpens your writing skills and keeps you focused on your topic. It's so much fun!
So, to make a short post long, Welcome To Ravenclaw! We are so glad to meet you and we look forward to watching you grow from Sprout to Turnip!
*trumpets sound*
*confetti flies*
*crowds cheer*
Oh, one last thing before I forget. I also want to leave you with a warning. These forums can be extremely addictive. Seriously. Dare I say it? Even possibly more so than chocolate. Crazy talk, I know, but it's true!
I'm always around (see above paragraph) so feel free to PM me anytime, to ask questions, or just to say "hi!" I'll be saving you the best chair next to the fire in the common room. Er, not the chair next to Snape. The other one.
*huggles Sprout*

I am also not a member of the Navy, but I feel a need to step in and explain Snape.
You see, I was around when Snape first joined our common room. I disappeared for awhile, not quite a year (last I was active was June or July of 2006, and I came back sometime in April, I believe).
I joined in March, so a lot of the people Lily_writes mentioned brought back warm memories. And a good share of us, most notably Magical Maeve and Vindictus Viridian, were Snape fans. I don't know if Insecurity was there before me or after, but I'm pretty sure woomama was after me. And those two were also very fervent Snape fans. Woomama was the original creator of the drool rag. Not only that, but we were all really talkative, and we pretty much couldn't stop talking about Snape.
I remember us all wondering why so many Ravenclaws seemed to like Snape, and there was a whole discussion about the Snape-Ravenclaw connection. So, I have to say that my beginnings at Ravenclaw were pretty wonderful, as they meshed so well with my own interests. I had been worried (silly me!) that I would have to justify my Snape-centrism since I wasn't in Slytherin, but we decided that liking Snape made sense for Ravenclaws because he's a very complex character and difficult to figure out, thus presenting us with a fascinating mental challenge. At least, that's the conclusion I remember us coming to.
I remember that most of the one AIM chat I was involved in centered around him... And garyf got really into it also.
Well, the forums went down... and came back up. And lo! There was Snape in our common room, wearing the label "Ravenclaw".
Now, here's where things went a bit funky. Someone (I think it was woomama) took this opportunity to begin a round robin in the Three Broomsticks about the (Attempted) Kidnapping of Severus Snape, in which all the Ravenclaw ladies were conspiring to sneak him away from Slytherin.
Harry Potter (correctly labeled as Gryffindor) came into our common room, also, but it caused tension with Snape. Talk was had of trying to get a Marauder in addition to Snape, but this didn't fly as there were far more Snape fans at that time than Marauder fans, and Potter's presence was bad enough, let alone a Marauder.
There was a thought, of course, that the Ravenclaw thing was a mistake, and someone asked the Slytherins if they wanted him back. Well, they all said "no", so we got to keep him. (If I recall, cmwinters was not yet active on the boards).
A Question-the-Potions-Master thread was set up. People talked about all their lust. Vindictus Viridian and I had a nice bit of tea with him, and convinced everyone to burn the drool rags. We thought of other activities we could engage in with him, but it was mainly the questioning one.
All in all, it was a fine time.
I should note that I am definitely a Ravenclaw, though over time, I've been finding myself growing more and more Slytherinesque (which is definitely a good word and should be used more often *nods*). I also was never intimidated of anyone here :).
I can't imagine being a part of any other house. We once had a topic about how we imagined the common room, and it was really fanciful and interesting! I seem to recall us all being lofted in the air in hammocks or something, with our own little niches for lots of books and other interesting items. Well, and of course, there's Snape... I can't really say I'm an exception to that (except that I don't drool over him, I just want to get inside his mind. Yes, his mind.)
Oh, and do feel free to PM me. Sometimes my inbox gets full, but I try to make sure I have at least five free spots before I leave. I don't usually get that many PMs in a day, unless I'm also on and responding to them. I also hope I don't come off as intimidating, though I suppose I could, either because of some of my less than thrilling thoughts about Harry or my extremely ***long*** posts... Trust me, that's just because I have problems being concise.
Ravenclaw...
I first joined the old boards back in Febuary of 2006 – I’m an old far– what? User friendly boards? Rightio then.
I’m an little old grey eagle – greyer around the ears from some, and still a hatchling compared to others.
Ravenclaw is a house of champions. We’ve got smarts, grace, and a certain air about the way we do things.
…
Geddit, air?
While some of us are total brainiacs, there’s others, like myself who have been here a little too long. We’re the sort of people who, when asked what’s heavier: a ton of feathers, or a ton of bricks, with immediately launch into a discussion about the grammatic value of said sentence, combined with the obvious intelligence of those to whom the question is directed, and – in short, some of us are a feather too short.
There’s been the ages of Ravenclaw. There was the stone age, where the net was situated high in the mountain tops, and great Kings and Queens like Magical Maeve, Poultrgeist, Vorona, Slian Martreb, wishiwereaweasley, callmehermione, Starmaiden and Garyf resided. Then, as the great winds began to tear across the cliffs and disturb and ruffle the feathers of the newest hatchlings, including myself and Lily_writes, the nest took a great tumble.
In May, the strongest of the Ravenclaws gathered their shattered egg shells, gathered more twine and shiny things, and brought about the house that is there for confetti today. It has brought forth great birdies like Joybelle, Mugglemathdork and Gmariam.
Many of the little grey old eagles passed on over the year. Many were whisked away from their nests in a Finding Nemo-esk manner, until they found themselves in the real world, chirping happily as they gobble down food, yet never quite forgetting their time spent in the nest.
There were times when Ravenclaw was the formidable house. There were times where we sat back and observed biding our time until we saw the worm for which to abandon our post and STRIKE. But whether or not Ravenclaw wins the House Cup is only second to what the house can bring you. Friendship, banana splits, midnight chats and the answer to the meaning of life – 42.
Month after month brings new Ravenclaws to the nest. With the help of Turnips, the HoH and Prefect nourish the hatchlings into fully grown eagles.
And that, small hatchlings, is what you are to live up to.

*cough* Gather round, Sprouts and Sprouts of old! Take heed, for I tell you the tale of "Ravenclaw and the Common Room Ban"!
Once upon a time, in the summer and the fall, there were a group of Turnips and Sprouts who loved to chat. They spent many a hour chatting about favorite colors, musical instruments, and random things. However, very little of their conversations revolved around Harry Potter and/or fanfiction, and only when something new happened did they talk about the approved topics.
They had successfully made there way through many a common room, and although they saw the warnings of Jan, their lovely Head of House, and Bridget, their fabulous Prefect, they ignored them. More specifically, they though the phrase "on topic" meant talking about a certain topic in many paragraphs. Little did they know, or care, that "on topic" referred to speaking of Harry Potter and/or fanfiction.
Then, it happened.
It had come time for a new common room, seeing as 150 posts had been reached. However, instead of a new common room waiting for them to post in, they found the notice that they were banned from the common room unless they upped their helpful posting in other areas of the forums. Jan and Bridget set up other activities in the tower for them to participate in, although none of them involved the actual common room.
Time passed. Although it was first though to be ludacris, the Ravenclaws lived on without their common room. However, after a good amount of time, they earned it back. After a bit of celebratory spamming, and streaking on the part of the Gryffindor Prefects, they hunkered down to buisness and were generally very good about staying on topic.
Let this story serve as a warning for all of you Sprouts who are too young (*pets*) to remember the ban: Jan and Bridget (well, now Julie, seeing as Bridget recently left us) will take away the common room if we are not good. The phrase "not good" refers to talking about subjects other than Harry Potter, fanfiction, Harry Potter actors, etc and even if we are talking about those subject, only using one or two lines. Also, any thing that could be said over instant messaging or private messages should not be said. There are services for that.
Just a friendly warning and reminder!

Hello!
We want you to become all Sprouty (and later, Turnipy!) on us! (Some of us actually LOVE Turnips!...(don't ask))
Moving on, I too was a little nervous...but after my first post, I soon got addicted. And participate in lots of activites - that really helps you get to know people. The first thing I did was I started to beta...and met lots of people, not just Turnips. I joined in November, and am now a participant in alot of Ravenclaw activiites, and represent Ravenclaw (I'm not sure if anyone else is there, though they might too) in the Unspekables Prep. Class.
Now, please don't be shy - we'd really like to get to know you - and err, what song the Sorting hat plays for you in the Who's Who thread...which is always a laugh!

We were asked to join the Navy back in April. Just to give our experiences and generally help out the newbies. I don't know if you can join it or not.
Oh, I remember that, Kate. I was part of that, I'm afraid--many of us less experienced Turnips [at the time] were.:o We are not proud of it, but we bounced back--we're now on CR #7. I call next spot for making the new thread--every few weeks when the post count on the current CR reaches the 150 mark we make a new thread to avoid modly wrath. It's called the Aerie among some of us who read Sandy/Snape's Talon's stories, and I plan on naming it that.

Oh, Ravenclaw. I love my house more than I can say. It's strange, really, when you think about it; I can hardly believe that I've gotten so very attached to this concept, this idea, this group of people who make up Ravenclaw. I haven't been here long, but I've grown to know and love all the wonderful people who make up our house. I love Ravenclaw. Enough said.
Okay, even though I just said “enough said”, I think I'll continue. ;) I remember when I first joined the house I was absolutely terrified. So many “faces”, so many names, so many pictures of Snape staring out at me from banners and avatars! *shudders* [I remember I was terrified of Sandy at first, but that was just because of her avvie. :p]
But time passed and I came out of my shell; I met so many wonderful new people, and made so many amazing friends. I know that loyalty isn’t one of the traits usually associated with Ravenclaw, but my experiences with my lovely housemates tell me otherwise. We’re a tight-knit group and extremely attached to one another—but we’re always ready to welcome in new Sprouts with open arms.
My best Ravenclaw memory is probably winning June Ravenclaw of the Month. I remember I discovered I had won on the morning of my AP test; despite all the stress, the kind and wonderful words of my ‘Claws managed to bring a smile to my face. Oh, how I love Ravenclaw!
And then there was that time I got my wisdom teeth out. I was horribly distressed, but it was my lovely ‘Claws who were always there to bring an, albeit painful, smile to my puffy face. Whether they gave me words of encouragement and sympathy, or pictures of chipmunks, it seemed like all my ‘Claws were there to support me… :) They’re wonderful.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that Ravenclaw just means so much to me… the people, the activities, the unity, the very concept of a united house… *sigh* I love Ravenclaw so much. I truly am a Turnip at heart, and I could never, never imagine myself as anything else.
I love Ravenclaw.

Absolutely lovely thread :-)
I joined up in June, I think it was, 2006 and I absolutely fell in love with Ravenclaw at first sight. The amount of funny, caring, and intelligent people all in one place amazed me. Everyone I know in Ravenclaw has supported me so much and I am so grateful for everything.
Little Ravenclaw Sprouts, consider yourselves unbelievably lucky to have found such a great House with great people.
Love all of you! (Sandy, Chrissy, Kate, Gina, Rachel, Star, Abigail and so many others, I didn't forget you and I couldn't if I tried).

I'm not in the Navy, but I thought I'd come and share anyway.
Anyway, I've been in lovely Ravenclaw house since August of 2005 (sheesh, I've been on here forever). Though most of you don't know or remember me since I've not been active in our house really since Poultry left, I still stop by every so often to lurk.
First of all, welcome to Ravenclaw! It's a fun house to be in, certainly, if you don't mind a good dose of randomosity and turnips. Snape may be around often, but don't worry, he doesn't bite (as long as you keep your drool rags out of sight). While I never actually participated when Snape joined our house, since I don't belong to his legion of drooling fangirls, I remember it and thought it very funny.
There was a whole story as to why we have our Turnip of Doom, which I don't really remember, but just know that we have turnips because they seem to show up everywhere, and because of Luna's earrings, and because it's awesome like that.
Hey!
even though I haven't been sorted yet, there is only one house for me and you should be able to deduce that I am telling Ravenclaw's this therefore I wanna be in.. RAVENCLAW:D ! It's realy cool how you all like Turnips and stuff it's realy random!
But I do have one question... when you all talk about Snape sitting in a chair in the common room do you mean literally? Is there like and online common room?
Hoping I'll be in your house!
Sev.
P.S: I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but how do I change the writing under my name? It currently(at the time of my posting this) says: At the rubble in Godric's Hollow and I have seen people with more writing, how do I change and add.

Hi Sev!
I just sent you a PM with answers to your questions, but I am loving your enthusiasm for Ravenclaw! I do hope you get sorted here, because we have a lively fun House, with an incredible Head of House (Jan/Magical Maeve) and Prefect (Julie/myownmuggle). There are several Snape lovers here, which is why we pretend-stole Snape from Slytherin House and keeped him locked in our Tower with us.
We love to welcome new Sprouts! We always have Turnipy confetti ready and the disco ball going, just in case one walks in the door.
Best Wishes!
~Andrea
Hey guys,
I've just reseived my Sorting result and I'm in... Ravenclaw!!!!! I'm so glad! Soon I'll be able to take part in things and get in to your common room.
Your very happy housemate,

Hello to all of the new Ravenclaws!
I would just like to start off by saying, don't be nervous, we are all friendly.:)
To be honest, I have only been here a short while, only a week, but I have already posted quite a bit. I am participating in the Autumn Challenge, and trying to help my fellow housemates win the cup!:o
I was sorted into Ravenclaw and jumped right in. I was slightly intimidated, but I knew I couldn't find my way all alone. Not if I wanted to actually do anything. So, if you feel the urge to participate in any or all of our lovely activities, go ahead, jump in with both feet.
Some of us are older in RL and some of us are teenagers. I happen to be in the former category, but that doesn't stop us from all being friends. So far I have talked with quite a few of both categories in the CR and in PM.
I can tell you, the first time I randomly PM'd someone, it was Sandy (Snape's Talon) and she was very nice and helpful. So don't hesitate to ask questions in the 'Ask Away...' thread, and PM the friendliest person you see, even me, if you want. Except maybe for Jan or Julie. (Magical Meave, and myownmuggle, our lovely HoH and Prefect. They tend to be a bit busy, you can however ask them something in the Ask the HoH... thread.)
Welcome to the Tower, and I hope to see you posting soon! :p
*hands out more drool rags to the Snape lovers*
Yes, that includes me, but I also love Sirius, polar opposites I know! :D

Hi *waves* I'm new.
I know this isn't the introduction thread, but I just wanted to let you know how happy I am to be Sorted into Ravenclaw (I was Sorted in here, though I don't think I've been officially added yet). Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure indeed.
I was pretty sure I'd be Sorted into Ravenclaw (my second guess was Slytherin, but I'm not nearly sinister enough for that) and I was right! Ravenclaw is great, because if
A Gryffindor flourishes a sword and storms ahead
A Slytherin conspires in the shadows, poison at hand
A Ravenclaw masterminds from behind a pile of books
And a Hufflepuff busies himself in the kitchens to feed the army,
I think we all know who's made the wisest choice ;)
But I digress! I'm very excited, especially now that I discover that most of my favorite authors come from this House.

I just joined a whle ago, I think last weekend, and I am happyto say-I really love it here.
I love my house (always have, even before the MMFF), and I love our mascot (but who doesn't love turnips?), and so far, I really like the Ravenclaws and the discussions going on in the CR. I'm so excited to get involved in everyone else's exciment.
I'm just extremely happy to be included in the MMFF fun and I'm proud to be a sprout-turnip! *waves awesome 'Claw flag*

Ahh, Turnip dreams. I am an old - nay, ancient Ravenclaw. I believe it was in November of 2005 that I first entered the world of the Ravenclaws, and in the Turnip thread declared that there was "One Turnip to Rule them All". The joys of being in the most off topic house on the board. Slian and I would argue about religion, and garyf and I would commiserate about the fact that we were the only two post-adolescent males who ever said a word (unless Vindictus Viridian actually was a guy... I do not remember if VV ever made it clear one way or another). The ramblings of then are being echoed in my ramblings of now, so I will sign off.

11-22-2007, 23:57
Well my name's Phia and I am a proud Turnip. I have been, ever since I was a Sprout.
Our House is amazing. It is truly a wonderful place where I feel completely at home. Yes, we are slightly looney, yes also a little off-topic. We have recently found that there is a boys' dormitory:eek: and that there is a Rutabaga in the House.
But the best thing about being a Claw is that you know you have a bunch of friends, bordering on family, that will look after you and love you and listen to you and encourage you. Ravenclaw Tower is a place to be crazy in public, to chat (as long as you keep an eye out for the Marble Egg of Doom), to write and to read, and most of all to be loved.
It is my place to escape when RL gets tough.
Thankyou Ravenclaw, and thankyou MNFF.
Love Phia

WOOO !
*streaks through CR waving Ravenclaw banner*
Mmm, not so much, but I'm definitely a proud Claw. :D I've been a member for a year now, and I suppose I'm more of a lurker than anything. But don't fear, little Sprouts! On many levels, I'm proabably still a Sprout too.
You'll soon meet some of our house's regular posters and learn of their quirky personalities... *cough cough* And us Claws have some great in-house challenges as well as games and discussions.
So my advice to the newbies would be to dive in headfirst. Enter a contest, set up a drabble thread or order a banner; do something to get active and involved on the boards. They really are fun (and sometimes, extremely addicting -- whether or not you're actually posting). :)

As some of you already know my name is James. I am a proud 'Claw. I am 15 going on 16 in about three months. I am really crazy (like my whole family, my brother and I figure there are only two types of crazy in my family), but I laugh at really stupid jokes. If any of you ever talk to me never ask where my sanity is I'll only say I never had it. I love anime shows, and HP of course. I am a big Star Wars freak, and a big game freak (my brother and I have figured out a timeline to a game that the creators haven't made yet). And that is all I think about myself for now. Hi There!
My name is Kelly and I am now a proud turnip. Or actually a sprout. I'm 14 going on 15 soon(ish) and am criminally insane. I'm kidding. Sort of. Anyway, very excited to make lots of friends in my new house!

Hi, I am Alyssa, and I like so many others, am a sprout. I am new to our house but I am quickly getting used to it. Anyone new will find out that they love our house soon enough. It is a really fun place, that you will find challenges in (if you look in our house you will find one right now), and many friends. Though, fellow sprouts, be forwarned that we all act alittle crazy once and a while.
~Alyssa
Um, Hi? I just got sorted into Ravenclaw today (no big surprise, no matter what quiz I take, I'm ALWAYS a Ravenclaw). So I guess that makes me a, sprout, did they call it? Sweet.

Hi, I'm Katie, and I was just Sorted into Ravenclaw a couple days ago, but so far I've been too self-conscious to post. I really want to get into this site, it's just hard to meet new people sometimes, you know? Anyways, I guess I'm a Sprout now. :D What is this challenge I hear we have going on?

Wow, thank God Im not the only one. I have no idea how to really work the site. Im trying to figure it out, and so far, so good! :)
Yay, I'm officially a Sprout:D
~Riley~
I cannot believe that I have not posted in this thread yet... Gaahhh!
Anyway, I am Azhure, a sixteen-year-old turnip. And I remember what it's like when you first join the forums. I was completely confused! I suppose everyone is confused to start off with, though. My key for getting through that overwhelming stage is one thing: don't be afraid to ask questions. The Ravenclaws are always willing to help out newcomers, and we don't bite if you join in with our discussions!
Although we do get a little crazy sometimes, we are kept in line by our wonderful Head of House, Julie (myownmuggle), and our amazing Prefect, Tash (Pondering)!
There's always something fun going on in the 'Claw tower, and I'm sure you'll feel right at home!

Congratulations, because if you are reading this thread, so either have been Sorted into or are hoping for Ravenclaw. And let me say, you could not be luckier.
I have been a proud turnip for some time now and I just loves all our 'Claws to death. We are a crazy bunch of people (we're all Luna Lovegoods at heart, we consider her our patron saint), but we are also some incredibly deep people. Our common room chats can range from anything from the genetics behind magical abilities, to the Christ-like standing J.K. assigned to Luna Lovegood, or even just how mad we are that the HBP movie was delayed until July! (Still fuming about that one).
And not only do we love our ideas, we take good care of them. All too often, we come up with a wonderful story in our heads, but just can't find ourselves able to write it for whatever reason. But do we abondon them? NO! We built a shiny new adoption center where our little abstract concepts can be well cared for until another Ravenclaw falls in love with it and take it to give it a good home. (Although secretly we always die a little on the inside when we have to give up one of our babies.)
But don't be shy, jump on in right away, and you will find yourself more than welcome.

I can't believe I haven't posted here yet :O
So. Ravenclaw.
It's been a year and a month since I've joined the forums and, consequently, Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw is such a nice place. I wasn't really that scared to jump in *.* I saw the discussion they were having in the CR and participated. I've stopped doing that though, because I never have anything to say anymore --'
I remember that Miki/emily_the_poet PM'd me, and we talked for a while after that (: My first contact in Ravenclaw, yay xD
I have reallyyy good friends in Ravenclaw. I used to talk a lot to Tash, but since she became a Prefect and, now, Head of House, she won't come down of her pedestal to talk to us :p (Just kidding, Tash *hugs*)
Also, Ravenclaw is such a fun place to be in. In Christmas and in New Year, we have a PARTY *squee*. We have this amazing game called 'Guess The Turnip' and I've only managed to win once *.* Yay.
We used to have the 'Ravenclaw Summer of Love', an amazing thread to spread the love all around Ravenclaw but it's gone D:
We also have random parties, like the one we're having at the moment.
Oh, and when it's time for a QWC ? You don't wanna know. We're on the second thread of the tactics room now :p Yeahh.
All in all, Ravenclaw is definitely the best place to be in. I couldn't have been sorted into a better House :D

'Lo everyone,
I'm a newbie, so please bare with me if I sound dumb or out of the loop about things on the boards  . I'm doing my best to learn!
I'm liking the house a lot so far, and everyone has been really nice. It's the house I would probably be sorted into, if I Hogwarts really existed (SO lame that it's not true:( ). Anyway, go eagles!

Hey everybody!!
To begin of with, I never realized that such a thread even existed.I became a proud Ravenclaw a few months ago and got around fairly well with the help of my dear friend H.J:)
As far as my experience out here goes, 'Claws have always been very friendly,(putting up with my silly questions etc etc.)
So if there's a nervous little sprout out there who needs help, never fear for Vittoria is here!:D

Hi all! I'm Jessie and I've obviously been sorted into Ravenclaw (though I've never once considered being anything outside of a Gryffindor).
I'm a web designer, graphic designer, volleyball coach, and author of young adult novels. I can't wait to meet everyone around here! I'm having difficulties finding my way around, so far, though. There is a lot to see visually on the boards so it's a bit overwhelming. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon and then I'll be on my way to chatting with you all!
Can't wait!
Cheers,

Ah, Ravenclaw...it's been a few months since I've joined, and I LOVE this house! I wasn't too surprised when I joined the house though. It was either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff for me, for I could never imagine myself being a Gryffindor or a Slytherin. :D
The people are nice and friendly, and it's not too hard to fit in. I got used to the forums with the friendly H.J's help, and you can too if you just P.M a fellow Claw, and I'm sure they'll be glad to help. We Ravenclaws are friendly and resourceful!
Toodles!

Oh Ravenclaw...such a wonderful place filled with happy Turnips and Sprouts like the people who are reading this.
Just so you know, Ravenclaw is filled with crazy but helpful people. If you seem intimidated or if you feel like everyone is friends and you don't want to intrude, then stop thinking that. I felt like that until I posted in the 'Warm Fuzzies' thread. After that, I became a lot more active because people wanted to get to know me. So express yourself. Post a lot. Be kooky and crazy and I promise you'll make tons of friends.
You should also participate in the threads and games we have in the tower. Right now, we're playing 20 Questions and talking about HBP and doing Caption Contests and all that stuff. Get involved in it! It's a lot of fun and you'll meet a bunch of new people.
Oh, and remember: Claws/Turnips/Sprouts are amazing and wacky and crazy and cool and FUNNY and just generally insane with super awesomeness! So know that you are in the bestest House EVA!
What are you waiting for? Go to Ravenclaw Tower and express your awesome Turnip/Sprout powers! We'll see you up there! :D
Roonil_Wazlib125 aka Annmarie :D   poooff
EDIT: Remember, little Sprouties, Luna Lovegood is the mascot of Ravenclaw. Well, besides the Turnip. So feel free to express the awesomeness of our favorite 'Claw, Luna.--roonil poooff
 I never even new this forum existed!
Well anyways, I'm Raffles and I'm extremely proud to be claw, as anyone should be ♥
I am the proud (co) owner of Neville, as over in Ravenclaw claiming HP characters is very common. If you are planning to claim someone like Prongs (I think they have opened a fan club for him^^) or Severus you will have to fight for him. But do not be scared, we don't bite... hard:D
You should also participate in the threads and games we have in the tower. Right now, we're playing 20 Questions and talking about HBP and doing Caption Contests and all that stuff. Get involved in it! It's a lot of fun and you'll meet a bunch of new people.
Ooh, and don't forget 'Guess the Turnip'. This is really fun as there is a MT (mystery Turnip) and Angela_Prongs gives us 5 clues (one of them is a lie) and we have to guess this MT. It's great fun so you should just jump in this, or any other, forums around Ravenclaw! Trust me, it's awesome and the claws are really nice and helpful ♥

New Ravenclaw here!
I guess when everyone arrives to Hogwarts, they already have a pretty good idea where they would be Sorted, and I was not disappointed. I guess all of us secretly pine to be Gryffindors (observe the SN), but I knew that I was not. I thought that, since I can definitely take care of myself and my own, I could be a Slytherin, but I knew I was not.
I knew, before I was ever Sorted, that I was a Ravenclaw. I'm extremely cerebral, and thinking is a way of life for me. I'm still adapting to the boards, but I'm happy to be here.
Go Eagles!

My name is Rachael, I'm new here to Ravenclaw, and I'm slowly trying to feel my way around. Harry Potter is a huge apart of my life and I am looking forward into meeting people who feel the same way. Alright, who keeps letting the Slytherins in? Who is it that hasn't been putting out the snake traps?
But seriously, you will find that the Slytherins and the Ravenclaws do do quite a bit together, and we really do support one another. When you think about it, we are more compatable with one another than we are with any other House.
Nicole's edit: You're right, Molly. Our houses DO mesh well. That being said, how about you guys give up a hundred points for your Slytherin buddies in the name of friendship?
Hah. I'm a Slyth - I had to at least try.

Or here's an idea! How about we loan you a hundred house points, and you pay back those house points over the course of a month, at say, 15% interest...
Anyway, we Ravenclaws are pretty similar to Slyths in some ways - we're evil demagogues too! Knowledge is power, power is evil, therefore knowledge is evil! HA HA!

Timmy, as I shake my head over your leaps of logic, I have a story to tell in relation to evil, knowledge and power.
A couple of years back there was a terrible storm on the coast of my state. This storm wielded an awesome amount of power, enough to drive an ancient gum tree clean through the roof of my best friend's school's library. So, the storm's power lead to the destruction of knowledge, and I can hear my fellow Ravenclaws openly weeping for the fate of all those poor books. Many would call such a consequence an act of evil. HOWEVER, there was no evil at play in any of this - any who suggest the library and/or books were evil can be shut out of the Claw Tower indefinitely, and the poor tree was as much a victim as any other player in the story. So, you say, perhaps the storm was evil - and I would possibly agree, except that it helped relieve the drought-stricken area.
Study this tale long and hard and you will surely gain a new and pure insight into the natures of power, knowledge and evil's essence. Or perhaps you'll catch onto the fact that I just felt like a ramble. :) Carry on.
xoxo Phia

Well, I think we can all agree that Phia's a bit weird... ;)
YES! 'Claws and Slyths are so compatible, it's frightening! (Frighteningly AWESOME, that is...) But really, what better way to use knowledge than for evil? Even a bunch of duffers (what does that even mean, eh?) can go around doing good deeds. It takes a real genius to go around hexing people and not getting caught. And then, eventually, causing ebil thunderstorms in Australia....and not getting caught... >.> *coughs*
YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!
So, we lend the Slyths some of our knowledge and they lend us some of their cunning (there's a difference, guys. Really.) and then we take over the world together. We're like this: *crosses finers to show tightness*
Welcome to Ravenclaw, newbies! WE LURVE YOU!
