Confundus Charm

I have a quick technical question.

Once placed on a witch/wizard, does the Confundus Charm wear off or is it removed by the caster of the charm?

I think it wears off though there might be a way to remove it too. The reason I think it wears off is that when Hermione casts it on McLaggen, she doesn't remove it, so it must have worn off eventually. But as that doesn't mean it can't be removed, you can take it to be true too.

Well, people who are Confunded usually have a specific task to do, or a certain idea to remember. Mundungus was Confunded by Snape in DH to tell the Order of the 7 Harrys plan. Later on though, he's back to his normal self. As Kriti mentioned, Hermione Confunded McLaggen to miss all the shots and once tryouts were over, there was no more reason for the charm to stay in effect. So I think it wears off once the certain task is completed or the information is no longer necessary. However, I'm sure there must be some way for the spellcaster to remove it manually.
