Okay, we all know that in wizard pictures, the figures move, and wizards a baffled that Muggles are completely still in their's.

But what I'm curious about is a picture of a Muggle and Wizard standing together. Would the potion used to develope the photo cause both figures to more, or would only the wizard move because they have magic while the Muggle stays still as a statue? Do you thinked the photographed wizard might be confused by this?

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

I think that the difference between wizard and Muggle photos is the solution that they develop in. We know this from CoS, when Colin uses his camera.

So logically, the Muggle would move as well, because I don't think that they detect the magic in the person, but rather the chemicals in the potion.

Hope this helped!

Yes, but I almost wonder if it just isn't the potion itself that causes the picture to move. What if the wizard's magic itself is what interacts with the potion, and that's what causes wizard to move in their photographs. If that were true, then Muggles certainly wouldn't move in photographs. They would stay frozen solid while the wizards around them move and look confused as to why the other person won't move at all.

I suspose that what brought up my wondering in the first place.

I don't think so, because it's not just wizards that move in photographs--it's the inanimate objects around them, too, that have no magic--like a flag fluttering in the wind in the background of a wizarding photo would move, although it's a perfectly normal flag with no magic.

I'm not 100% on this, though, so if it's vital to your story that this be the case, I think you could get away with it.

Like two others before me, I agree that they would move. I think that it would be because of the potion that they use, though they do not say this in the books. So in all techicalty, if it doesn't say anything about it on the Lexicon, then I think you can get away with it being either. Because of the potion, or because of the wizard. I hope I helped you in some way.

In addition to what has been said, it would not be out of place for the wizard to still be fascinated or confused by the Muggle in the photograph with him. Though the Muggle would still move, the two come from very different societies, and the way they would interact with each other would be very different from the way two wizards in a photograph would interact. For instance: how would the Muggle react to being trapped in a picture? This is not an ordinary thing for his society like it is for the wizard, so perhaps he would be confused or even alarmed.

Also, people in pictures and paintings can move between them at will, so how would he react to the first time someone else popped into his picture?

Although I do believe the Muggle would move in the photograph, there is still plenty which can be done with said Muggle to make the picture more interesting and curious. Why, he could even get offended at being cooped up like that and stalk out of the picture in a huff! ^_^

I imagine he/she would be very alarmed, and might possibly react rather like The Pink Lady (I think that's her name; I'm very, very spacy tonight, so if it isn't, just poke me and I'll fix it) did when Sirius attacked her portrait in POA.

I wonder if they would try to speak to the wizard/witch viewing their portrait, perhaps questioning them about how they ended up in this situation in the first place?
