Marauders Era Questions

I have quite a few question about various people in the Marauders Era. So, I decided to just make one thread to cover them all, it will make it easier to reference later. Here we go:

1: Did Snape and Lily actually have a relationship? Or was it just that Snape loved Lily, but did nothing about it?

2: Does anyone have any idea on what Alice Longbottom's maiden name was?

3: Were Frank and Alice Longbottom attending Hogwarts in the same year as James and Lily? If so, what houses were they in?

4: How old was Petunia when she married Vernon?

5: Who was younger, Lily or Petunia. (I think I know this answer already, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

6: Did Pettigrew join Voldemort while he was at Hogwarts, or after he graduated?

7: Is it true that Sirius was a beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team?

They were best friends, so that's a very fine line...I think Lily might have, in the very beginning, because Snape was the first to introduce her to the magical world. But if then, probably only a brief crush that would have dispelled by her first year at Hogwarts.
2: Does anyone have any idea on what Alice Longbottom's maiden name was?
Nope.
3: Were Frank and Alice Longbottom attending Hogwarts in the same year as James and Lily? If so, what houses were they in?
I'm not sure if they were or not, but it seems invariably in Marauder era fanfics they are Hufflepuffs or Gryffindors and Alice is the best friend of Lily. The ages would be right, if the Longbottoms had children at the exact same time as the Potters.
4: How old was Petunia when she married Vernon?
No info on this in canon. I tend to think she wouldn't marry too young (Lily married young), but not too old either; probably a respectable age like 25...
5: Who was younger, Lily or Petunia? (I think I know this answer already, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

6: Did Pettigrew join Voldemort while he was at Hogwarts, or after he graduated?
I tend to think after he graduated. I don't know for sure, but I think so. At Hogwarts he was sort of sheltered from the rise of Voldemort, and as a Gryffindor cut off from the recruiting that probably happened in Slytherin. But once out of school...so many new options...
7: Is it true that Sirius was a beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team?
No proof in canon, but it seems to fit!

Other than that, I think Peter joined Voldemort at hogwarts.

The second one. He may have tried to do subtle things, I dunno--but he never came out and told her what he felt, or asked her if she felt the same. He was too scared, I think, so their relationship stayed that of best friends.

There's nothing on the lexicon about it, so I'm pretty sure we don't know.

3: Were Frank and Alice Longbottom attending Hogwarts in the same year as James and Lily? If so, what houses were they in?

I think they were most likely older, because Lily and James got married and had a child fairly young. I'm not completely sure, but it just seems likely that they were at least five-ish years older.

4: How old was Petunia when she married Vernon?

Again, we don't know, but she probably got married around the same time Lily did, since Dudley is only a few months older than Harry (I'm pretty sure). So, since she was one or two or maybe three years older than Lily, then she would have gotten married in her early twenties. (Lily was married at about 19)

5: Who was younger, Lily or Petunia. (I think I know this answer already, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

6: Did Pettigrew join Voldemort while he was at Hogwarts, or after he graduated?

I think it was most likely after he graduated, but you have pretty much free rein on this.

7: Is it true that Sirius was a beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team?

There's no canon supporting this. This is a fandom thing.

I hate Snape/Lily ships more than anything... though I like to think that first to second year they were probably extremely good friends and there could have been an innocent little relationship between them. Never anything like a real relationship where they were in love and everything. They were too young for that and as they grew older they grew apart since Snape found his death eaters and called Lily a mudblood

I see it as a whole group of them graduated Hogwarts and went straight into the Order. The Longbottoms seem like Gryffindors, they defied Voldemort three times which I don't think your average Hufflepuff could do.

4: How old was Petunia when she married Vernon?
I agree with what the people who have posted before me said. Petunia was probably 23-25, because I see her looking down on Lily for marrying "that boy" so young.

5: Who was younger, Lily or Petunia. (I think I know this answer already, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)Lily was younger, but I don't think she was 5 years younger like someone before said. In the scenes in DH Petunia and Lily are on the swings together and I just get the feeling that they are only three years apart. Besides, if Petunia was five years older I don't think that she would be as whiney about Hogwarts as she was. Also, if it was a large age difference how could Petunia think that she would enter the same school as Lily?

6: Did Pettigrew join Voldemort while he was at Hogwarts, or after he graduated?
I think that he joined after since it says that he was betraying information for a year before James and Lily were killed when they were 21. That was 2 years after Hogwarts. So I think that during their seventh year Peter became interested in the Slytherins and may have even befriended some of them in secret. He never actually joined until 1980 (when he was 20).

7: Is it true that Sirius was a beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team?
I don't see any information on it in the lexicon. It does fit though. Him and James were pretty much a unit at Hogwarts so it would make since that if James was on the team then Sirius would be as well. Also, it would give him another way to go against his family, by beating the Slytherins in quidditch :p

I have my own question... I think it may have been answered in the books but I'm not sure:
Did James and Sirius (with possible assistance from the other Marauders) create the two-way mirror? Or did they just find it in a shop somewhere?
I like to think that they created them, because they seemed kind of rare. Also it seems like the Marauders enjoyed inventing things.

I just thought of another question:
That knife that Sirius has, could that open locks that couldn't be opened with Alohamora or just locked doors?
I would assume that it could open any door including one that was resistant to spells. If it didn't then why would it be so special?
