James is now Head Boy and has become alarmingly responsible, leaving Sirius and Remus with the choice of going home with Peter or behaving.
The third choice - finding somewhere else to celebrate - does not occur to them until Remus discovers that the landlady of the Three Broomsticks is facing a very lonely Christmas.
A big thank you to Elene (coolcatelly) for beta'ing this fic despite an evil computer virus.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for the Great Hall Christmas Challenge - prompt 1 ~Christmas Past~
Summary: The Marauders help Harry celebrate his first Christmas while Lily tries to reconcile her old visions of Christmases with the reality of the war.
I'm rachelnotrach of Hufflepuff and this is my submission to the Great Hall Of Christmas' Past, Present and Future Challenge- Prompt 1.
A war is brewing in the Wizarding world. Hogwarts is not the safe haven it used to be. Students are beginning to consider the unthinkable, desperate to save those they love. The corridors are filled with eager spies who are too young to realise the severity of their decisions.
In the midst of it all, the Marauders are closing in on their last year of schooling. James is learning that letting go is sometimes the only way to move forward. Lily discovers that what she was looking for all along is right in front of her, while Sirius and Remus struggle to keep the group together, each in their own way. And Peter begins to realise that he can be more than a tiny piece of a large puzzle, perhaps the most dangerous epiphany of all.
Sides must be taken, a war must be fought, and prices must be paid—some higher than others. Choices are made that will undoubtedly change the course of the future. And from this darkness, the phoenix must rise.
Summary: *”Not if he thought I was the spy, Peter,” said Lupin. “I assume that’s why you didn’t tell me, Sirius?” he said casually over Pettigrew’s head.
“Forgive me, Remus,” said Black.
“Not at all, Padfoot, old friend,” said Lupin, who was now rolling up his sleeves. “And will you, in turn, forgive me for thinking you were the spy?”
“Of course,” said Black, and the ghost of a grin flitted across his gaunt face…*
Those words, spoken between two old friends, lead one to wonder why two friends could have ever suspected each other of being a traitor. What could have happened once they left school to make them distrust each other?

Everything you recognize belongs to J. K. Rowling. I am just thankful to be able to play in her world for a little while.
This story is dedicated to Carole. She gave me the prompt to inspire my muse again and without her, I think my muse would still be in hiding. Carole, thank you for bring back the voices in my head. And your invaluable Brit-picking.
I must also thank Bine for doing a quick and valuable beta job for me on this. Muse wasn’t interested in making sure it was all correct, she just wanted to write.
Summary: Lily felt a swoop in her stomach at those words. They had done it, actually done it! She knew she should be furious with the boys for all of this, and ashamed of herself for not doing more to stop it, but it was all blotted out by her overwhelming need to find out what the boys were planning.
Faith is sweet and loving. She comes from an ideal family, with loving parents. But she also has a secret.
Kaici has a brave, confident, and sometimes cocky demeanor. But under this she is hiding the fact that her family is falling into ruins, and she is the reason of it.
Caya is smart, studious, a model child. Everyone can see it, except the one person she wants to.
Oleander is clever and sly. Her smart remarks often get her into trouble, but she can worm her way out of it just as easily, unless it comes to her parents.
This is the story of four girls, with only three things in common; they are all witches, they all share a birthday, and they are all desperate for a real friend. As different as they are, they are able to befriend each other and hold together during one of the darkest times in history; the first rise of Lord Voldemort.
Meet the Four.
They were four of the closest friends that the Wizarding World had ever seen, but one of them was hiding a horrible secret.
This is the story of their journey to discover that secret.
This is the story of the aftermath of their discovery.
This is the story of their beginning, their youth, and their everlasting friendship.
Summary: It started out as just a simple friendship between four boys. The story of that friendship, as it grew and they became men, would eventually define wizarding history and change the world forever. Documented here is the story of the four unique, imperfect, and remarkable boys who made up the Marauders.
The Marauders are the most popular boys in the school, admired by younger and older students alike. Their O.W.L.s are finished, and they’ve all passed and are ready to begin sixth year. James has decided on the career path of an Auror and is trying as hard as he can to succeed. Sirius has followed James into Auror classes, and although he’s not entirely sure if that’s what he wants to do, he figures that it‘s worth it to spend time with his best friend. Remus is all set to begin the crusade for werewolf rights, despite what people may say. Peter is pursuing the profession of a healer. The four best friends are as close as ever, now that they’ve been split up for the first time in six years, and are trying harder than ever to make school fun as they run into problems like girls, grades, and a certain Slytherin. Along the way, they’ll learn that there’s more to life than just being a Marauder.Meanwhile, Lily Evans has been considering whether or not it’s worthwhile to continuously turn James down; she knows she doesn’t want a boyfriend, but she thinks she could really use a friend. Jackie Carter cruised through all of her classes for the past five years, but keeping up with N.E.W.T. level classes is proving harder than she expected. Mary Macdonald has been having troubling nightmares and needs to find someone to talk to. Angela Hunter is realising that her father getting re-married will benefit her family more than she thought. The four girls need each other this year more than ever as they begin N.E.W.T lessons, and the impending graduation is getting closer than ever. Together, they’ll face the drama of being a teenage girl…coupled with the feelings of love and friendship. It’s a year that no one will be able to forget.
Title taken from the Thin Lizzy song of the same name.
Summary: Sidelined by her pregnancy, Lily takes a new job at the Department of Mysteries on Dumbledore's recommendation. Here, she will be confronted with a shocking question: Can God and magic co-exist?
Thanks so much to my awesome Beta: DracoGurlFurever/Apurva!
Lily Evans had a lot of thinking to do, and what better time to do it than the crack of dawn on a Saturday? Not a person in sight...usually. That was, however, until she happened upon a certain group of boys, but without their normal mischief.
Follow Lily as she investigates this awkward run-in with James Potter and his friends.
Summary: As Severus Snape looks up at the stars in the sky, he wonders if they can really determine the future.
Summary: Time is one of the great mysteries of the universe, its seeming simplicity misleading and its true complexity both astounding and mystifying…
Time is a restricting force, and it only ever wants to move forward, but in reality its boundaries are far easier to bend than one might expect. Time travel is something wizards have been experimenting with since the beginning of time, and they have finally mastered the art. However, all of the Ministry’s time turners have been broken, and it seems that, even for wizards, the ability to travel through time is once again lost. That is, until two people stumble across a rather extraordinary object that manages to do something even the time turners could not accomplish; it can send people years, decades or even farther into the depths of the past. The trouble is, after this object is used, it provides no way in which the user can return. They are forever trapped in time… unless they can find a way back. The question is, how?
Summary: It is the night before Petunia Evans' wedding. As she stares at herself in the mirror, she is satisfied with her appearance. The dress is perfect, cleverly cut to give her curves, and she looks like a dream.
Yes, the dress is perfection ... but what of the veil?
She has promised Vernon and his formidable mother that she will wear the Dursley veil. It is an antique. A family heirloom.
It is hideous.
What she needs is a miracle to rid her of the ugly thing ... or perhaps a touch of magic.
This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry in the Weddings Challenge - prompt Big Weddings - in the Great Hall Challenge over at the MNFF beta boards.

O.W.L.s, Quidditch and the Added Distraction of Sirius Black by Equinox Chick
Rated: 1st-2nd Years [Reviews - 4]
Summary: Martha Macdonald is in trouble. If she doesn't pass enough O.W.L.s then her dad has decreed that she will not be coming back to Hogwarts for her N.E.W.T. years. For Martha, returning to Hogwarts is essential or her dream of playing professional Quidditch will disappear faster than the Snitch at the start of a match.
Perhaps if she'd studied instead of flying, then she wouldn't be in this mess. Maybe if her boyfriend wasn't the distracting Sirius Black, then her brains wouldn't turn to mush as soon as she bent over her textbooks.
Or, says a small voice in the back of her head, perhaps she's just stupid.
Will Martha scrape an Acceptable or will she always be a Troll?
This is Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff, and this is my entry in the Madam Pomfrey's Character Clinic Triathlon: Original Characters. Prompt # 1 - Exam Stress
