MuggleNet Fan Fiction
Harry Potter stories written by fans!
Welcome to MuggleNet's fan fiction section! Feel free to browse around and read the stories, but you will need to register for a free account if you want to comment on them or submit your own.

As you have probably noticed, the site is currently undergoing some changes. Our main software has been growing a bit creaky and is in need of some care. Just like the Burrow, our building blocks are a little off kilter so please bear with us whilst we bring the site back into working order.

Whilst we are working on recapturing our beautiful dragon and that signature MNFF look, we hope you enjoy this new responsive design that should be accessible on any platform or medium.

If you discover any bugs in the code, please do let us know on our forums, over on our Facebook page, or by contacting our coder on twitter @RoxyBlackMNFF

And don't forget our Beta Boards can be found, as always, just here.

Battle of the Genres Challenge!

by the opaleye @ 03/22/17 4:04
Below is a list of literary genres to choose from. Pick one you like and write a fic or drabble in the style of the genre.

Click here to see the list!

+ Each prompt can be claimed multiple times. If two people have done the prompt before you and their entries have been posted then you can go full steam ahead - there are no limits. You can also use the same genre more than once - if you want to write three Biopunk fics then by my guest!

+ If you write a romantic pairing, they do not have to be canon.

+ You may include OCs.

+ Fics can be one-shot or chaptered.

+ All ratings and warnings must comply with MNFF standards. If you are posting a drabble here on the boards, we will not accept anything over 6th-7th years or anything that contains graphic acts or language that are not suitable for the boards.

+ If you have any other questions then post here in the comments below. We also have a thread on the beta boards here with more info.

+ This challenge will run until May 31st, 11:59pm GMT.

The NOTP Valentine Ficathon

by the opaleye @ 01/20/17 23:59

Fic Masterlist:
Love and Alchemy by Kerichi
Sticks and Stones by whichone
The Other Woman by whichone
Threads of Hope by Oregonian

Not all ships were created equal. Some are just more doomed than others. We’re going to celebrate that.

We don't just have OTPs. Most of us have ships we don't like, or even hate. This ficathon is for those ships. The NOTPs.

In this activity you will write fics or poems for various ships you don't particularly like. Rather than a challenge, it’s more of an activity to give some ships you don't really like a go, and to see them in a new light. All fics will be posted here in a masterlist and featured on the MNFF tumblr.

So how is this going to work?

+ Write a fic for a ship that you currently do not like or once disliked. As per usual, you may write as many fics as you like!

+ Fics should be 800+ words. They can be one-shots or chaptered. You may also write a poem.

+ This activity will run until March 1st, 11:59pm GMT.

+ We have a thread on the beta boards where you can post prompts for writers to use, but writers do not need to use the prompts if they don't want to.

+ Go to this thread to read the prompts and post your own. If you claim a prompt and write a fic, you can post the link to your fic in the comments below or in the Great Hall here.

Happy New Year

by the opaleye @ 01/09/17 2:13
Happy New Year from the MNFF team!

2016 has been and gone, and we're back with the queue open, plenty of new and updated fics to read and review, and lots of challenges and activities planned for the year ahead.

We still have our festive challenge - Jingle Spells - open over at the beta boards so click here to find out more. Submissions are due January 15th, 11:59pm GMT.

Keep an eye out for a new challenge soon, too, especially if romance is more your thing.

Thanks to all our authors and readers for your patience over the past six months. While 2016 had its challenges, we also had a really successful round of the Quicksilver Quill Awards. If you're looking to read something, then please do check out our winners in the post below!

We're looking forward to a great 2017 and enjoying all the new fics our amazing authors have to offer!
